Hi, I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2007 and it's only once my TSH got stabilized and stayed stabilized for a long while, that I started feeling my old self.
Hang in there... things will get better and better for you.
Vitamin C is water soluble therefore isn't stored in the body, unlike vitamin E. You need to take it regularly to keep levels high, hence it's often the one you're lacking.
l I recently discovered the link between vitamin C and thyroxine.
I can't link it but google it to find the research.
1. You can't absorb your medication without it.
2. You can't convert T4 to the active T3 without it and vitamin E,
3. Taking thyroxine will use up more vitamin C than the average person has to use and may cause other symptoms as a result, e.g. anaemia, slow wound recovery, generally feeling lousy etc. :(
Since I've started washing my pills down with half a 1000mg effervescent Vitamin C in the morning and taking a Vitamin A, C, E and Selenium tablet in the afternoon (also for thyroid support) and it has had a massive effect. I think I may have to down the dose (I am currently on 250mg/day thyroxine) as I have had some symptoms of overdosing as a result (heart rate has increased).
Keep up the exercise and good diet, the above just makes sure you get the basics of what you need :)
Just found your videos - thanks so much for posting them! I'm hypo too and it sometimes feels like I'm all alone so its been good seeing that there are others out there who know what I'm going through. I hope that you continue to feel better and that I will too.
Mine is 225mcg -- I gained 75 pounds during a very short time as well before I was diagnosed. My blood work, was within the normal range too but my Dr. said she wanted my numbers to be on the underside, she felt it would be better for me. I am very happy for you!!! I hope my blood work next time is good news !!! I'm walking more and more to try to get the extra exercise!
am glad your feeling well ! thats great news !! my dose got put up to 50mg last week ! my next blood test is in 6weeks hope my meds dont go up again ..
I'm so glad you're feeling better! I'm on 125mcg, and i feel fine. I've been working out 5 days a week, and eating to lose the last 20 pounds, and it's going well, and I am actually sleeping now, which is so nice, as when I was hyper, I was not sleeping at all. Can't wait for all your updates.
I am sooo happy for you and the fact that there is some hope for me to loose weight/feel better whilst having an under active thyroid!

Please keep going with these.
I'm only 16 years old and have just been diagnosed. People just think I'm lazy when I say I don't have any energy... this really sucks.
