From a business standpoint, why? These kits probably cost the airline millions, and no one is going to pick JetBlue over another airline just because of the red-eye kit.
These companys provides JetBlue with the merchandise as it's promotional. We have an airplane that fits 150 people and a product that we receive free to give away during flight. If the customer likes it, possibilities are they'll buy it, plus who doesn't like getting freebies? It's a win/win situation. Only thing we provide as our "stuff" is the eye shade in a small pouch with ear plugs.
Really, doesn't cost that much to make customers feel more comfortable.
Wish we had those at SJU for the redeyes.
