Blue helmets are not a UN army per se - it's mostly 3rd world soldiers and officers temporarilly hired by the UN. They have the smallest percentage of money they use for purpose (and is not lost in the pipleline of the organisation), while charity systems have much bigger efficiency to use money properly.

@AmsterdamHeavy Truth is, there's never been an army in history that wouldn't occasionally behave deviously. Blue helmets are not a UN army per se - it's mostly 3rd world soldiers and officers temporarilly hired by the UN. You can't expect an ideal Charter-abiding behaviour by a de facto mercenary armed force. But even given the occasional crimes, their role in maintining world peace is instrumental: they bring much more security to this world then any coalition of the willing, that's for sure.

UN couldn't do anything, then USA put pressure on UK & FR to withdraw to prevent SU from taking action. Much like in later wars when USA finally pressured Israel to cease because SU already sent bombers to Syria.

I meant Israel was working alongside with the other two nations (Britain and France) that wanted to invade Egypt. You're right, America did pressure her allies to back off and that boosted the UN's role in the world and we've seen consequences when certain key players within the UN don't step up-the Rwandan genocide.
The UN is in a dismal position because it seems too bureaucratic to be effective...but what's the alternative? How would we handle Ivory Coast if there was no UN?

@wabdinur The governments should handle Ivory Coast either bilateral-trilateral-quadrilateral (nigeria-france-usa-ivory coast action,france-nigeria-ivory coast action, nigeria-ivory coast action) and/or through small groups primarily through immediate regional resources (ECOWAS or similar), and true democracies listen to the nonbinding nongovernmental organizations (such as amnesty international).
At least when they do something that is binding it is only them that looks bad not all humanity.

The UN General Assembly(where all the resolutions are passed) are made up off all the members. They have the smallest percentage of money they use for purpose (and is not lost in the pipleline of the organisation), while charity systems have much bigger efficiency to use money properly.

And there's no one to make them obey. Who's gonna make them obey? Some "messiah" person? US is voilating hiuman rights, so is China and Russia. Why should them my small country conform with UN (or EU) regulations if they are only meant for me, and not all? It's stupid.

Something we don't know: If we never ever chucked the heat, instead of always alway always "chucking the heat energy" during power generation operations all these important "mfkers" wouldn't even need to be important. It's a very simplistic technology with the goal of never chucking or creating waste heat because it's never necessary to do that. It is legally sequestered and banned, mostly because making problems is good for status aquisition. Leaders love a good debacle.

Anybody who doesn't know about the "Always always always chuck the heat energy international policy" is either "on purpose dumb, or flat out dealing with logical dementia". What is it that went away? We never ever teach capturing and using heat energy, because the entire heat energy recovery technology has been legally banned from our "gamer reality". Steam and pneumatic technologies are illegal..

@hypnofan35 We use ten times as much fuel as we ever would need to. We don't even need big oil. All we need is alternative fuel technology. We hear about it somewhat but it is probably "already owned" Some species of algae can capture a great deal of Sun's energy "in a bottle" so to speak. (hydro ponics) With never ever chucking the heat, the alternatives are there to big waste and big oil.
