I think this is a great idea. I also see indications that if Fred simply set up a PayPal account on his behalf, many of us would kick in a few bucks with or without videos. I certainly would. I don't think there's a snowball's chance we can come up with enough to fully cover the bill (which I'm sure will be astronomical) but we can at least put a healthy dent in it.
Go to the feature video on DP's channel. That is the official fundraising vid and the PayPal account email addy is posted there. Right now we are up to about $1500.00 USD so at least he has money to purchase mecicine when he get's out. We want to take it a few steps further though and actually take a stab at paying the dang bill. Who knows? It's a goofy world out there.
I appreciate your display of goodwill but without the endorsement of either mobiltec or notsooldhippy I would not be comfortable donating to a support fund set up by a person I don't know.

I don't have any insurance. This summer I got hives all over my body and swelled up like I had be bitten by a mosquito all over my body. I had a crazy fever and my boyfriend woke up to find me laying on the bathroom floor begging in a whisper to be sprinkled with water. I refused to go to the hospital because I can't afford the bill.
Health insurance sure would be a nice thing. Fucking republicans.
I would like a cheap health care plan that YouTube subscribers can buy into if the have no other resource for purchasing health care through a group plan.
YouTube should be able to do at least that much for the people who have made it. hell, they could even pitch in a little bit for the cost!
I guess it would need to be for people who have actively participated for 6 months and who have made some real videos.

I have a pension scheme which has shares in Blue Cross and other American medical fraud for profit organizations.
When an American insured in Blue Cross is denied treatment I earn money.
Last year it was around $ 50.
Since we have universal health care here
and because I believe it is morally reprehensible to profit from others' disease, it would delight me to send this money to to help out,
I normally send them to Amnesty international.
But, what the heck.
