I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the 250's But..You will soon get bored. Find a 600 or 700 that suites you. You can have it lowered to fit, lowered bikes handle a little diffrent but are still safe to ride. THEN take the MSF safty course
I disagree, I love my ex250 and feel the power is more than ample. Low insurance, upkeep and high mileage are all bonuses that continues to satisfy me.
Would the Hyosung GT250R be good for a first time rider/owner who is 6'3" and weighs about 190lbs? I was told to check out the Ninja 250r. Can someone please help me?
haha im in the same situation as you! the hyosung is bigger with a tad more power than the ninja250r- A kawasaki developer said the ninja250r was designed for short riders manly, but theres testimonials from taller riders saing it's comfturble for them to ride. I think im going to go for the hyosung though -im 6ft 200lbs
yea the gt250r would be far better as it is bigger in size...you on a ninja 250 would look like a clown on a mini moto...also if you have you ful bike license i would recomend you buy the gt650r as its only £3999 BRAND NEW!!! thats only a grand more than the 250...enjoy.
The 2008 Ninja looks ok... but the handle bars are to close to person(unlike a sportsbike) and those tires......can't believe it...let's just say I think my brothers BMX has wider tires
hey jane you should wear proper biker boots not trainers trust me, when i came off of my bike i was wearing boots and all of my right leg and foot were tore to pieces luckly i was wearing alpinestar leathers and agv racing boots that saved my skin and my ancle, if i was wearing trainers i would hate to think what my leg and foot were to look like. (i was only traveling about 30-40mph)
G'day tzrmike, that is my sis, she was only driving up and down the block in 2nd gear so I wasn't too fussed, totally agree on wearing gear when riding though.
That is a good point you raise, on one hand the wide tank and frame makes the transition onto a 600+ sportsbike easier but it does make the bike more difficult to handle at low speeds...My sister dropped it trying to do a U-turn...It is an issue you will overcome with experience.
From what I've heard, these bikes are a pain to turn around. The handlebars hit the gas tank. So based on what I've learned online, a Kawasaki Ninja 250 still beats everything else. Especially now with the 2008 body style.
boysinblack! what are you talink about, first of all, hyosung is from Korea, secondly, it gets 100mph, and if you never tried one, do not talk about one..

GET ninja 250 Not this chines Crap bike, you know the ninja 250 tops out at 110 and this bike tops out at 80 mph.....NEVER i Mean NEVER buy a NON Name Brand bike or any car
at least the hyosung looks like a proper bike the 250 ninja looks like the honda cbr 125 (a push bike) the back tyre on the gt250r is the exact same size as the gt600r the ninja has skiny tyres so is crap!
Hey man i was the same way, but in my opinion go with this bike yeah its a semi new company but they use to make Suzuki engines so its not like they dont know what there doing and yeah dont let people tell you to get a 600 or 1000 if its ur first bike its not about speed its about how well you ride and learning to drag a knee :o) if you have any questions feel free to ask

I have 2100km on this bike now. Where I live I am limited to 260cc for a little over a year.
This bike has been great for me so far, I like the sports riding position, size and sound.
Like all 250s it is gutless of course, and the carbie makes it get rich as I go to high elevations but it has been great fun.
I think it is an excellent first bike, at an excellent price.
My next machine will be a Daytona 675. Can't wait for that one!
