This tune is an unknown classic, thank you Joe for this gift before you checked out! Man this song inspires me and probably lots of others in the ways you probably hoped, and will continue to do so forever. Rest in peace, Joe Strummer.
@srfnwprtbch I remember subs(heroes) I used to get in Boston years ago when I lived there. The shaved eggplant was so good... Like Strummer's music, unique and making you feel glad to be alive. I miss heroes.
Our sons and daughters are getting older Joe, maybe it wont be in their time either. could do with some of your calm wisdom at the moment and that bit of your brain that always keeps the campfires burning and stopped us from leaving!
@plimsoul222 It's Arabic for 'be quick' - Joe spent many years in the Ladbroke Grove area of West London, moving from squat to squat. The district now has a large Arab population.
beautiful joe - I mean - so sweet - I mean - he looks like he really had a moment - a joe strummer and no one else moment - it's in the ......................
I really wish that Strummer had lived through the worst of the Bush Administration. I think given the pitiful state that things had come to he would have made some really political music, which The Mescaleros, though awesome, was not. Personally I think he would have supported Obama. Anyone should, after the nightmare of Bush.
removing my own conservative views haha, I think Joe wouldn't have found Obama radical enough. Joe didn't strike me as the type to buy into corporate hype which is all Obama is.
@calligh probably more of the same... but we must let the ends justify the means... Lets not fool ourselves though... probably more of the same shit... same puppeteers. different times
@calligh I think I can speak for Joe and tens of millions of others that President Obama is a profound disappointment in every area, especially the continuation of G.W. Bush's "national security" policies, e.g., warrantless wiretaps, war and more war.
A good question - especially given Joe's support of Boris Johnson for the London Mayoral elections. I think he was of the age where he had realised that political colour was no substiute for ability and enthusiam.
Sorry, Joe Strummer support of Boris Johnson mayoral election campaign? Sorry where the hell did you hear this from? Joe Strummer died December 2002. Boris Johnson had no intention of standing until July 2007. Joe had been dead for over 4 years. Please don't talk crap. Joe did not and probably would not have supported Boris campaign to be London mayor.
Boris said it himself in an interview. Boris and Joe had been friends for some time prior to that. I forget what paper the interview was in but there is a small bit on the Guardian website from an interview with Boris (April 2008 - Just google their names).
Joe's politics changed when he moved West and mellowed. He became more of a libertarian.
Love this video so much. Only suggestion for improvement: more footage of New York, less of Ant Genn.
