It just might be one of the most rare historical accounts in recorded history. It is uploaded on my channel. A never before released wtc attack video that is a continuous running account. The only such video account that exists. It is a time capsule; it is the answer to the question: what would it have been like to watch that all unfold right before my eyes.. without the media.. just to watch it all from beginning to the end.. in a non-production way. Only one 'Tuesday Morning in September'
@hot4kids Seriously, he must be. I would just trust the government to take care of us and keep us safe in an emergency, they've been doing a crack up job so far.
@hot4kids I think it's more we all have a grip on reality and the era we live in today. Go shooting sometime, 1,000 rounds doesn't last as long as you may think.
Right now all I have is my Glock 23.. I have 220 Rounds. 100 fed hardball. 100 Remington umc JHP. and 20 Windchester PDX1. I agree about 1000 per cal.. So I got a long way too go. But this week I should Have another 200 rounds of Remington or Federal
I try to keep at least a thousand rounds for each type of weapon I own. More than that and it becomes almost impossible to cart around ( as in bug-out situations ). Plus, it's pretty much just me and my wife right now, and if we need more than 1,000 rounds I figure we're doomed anyway.
do you believe it?? here in italy the law about cartridges is: you can store in your house maximum a thousand of buckshot/birdshot... regarding slugs, whether they are shotgun slugs or 22lr or 45acp or whatever type of ammo that shoots a single slug, you can store maximum 200 total... TWO HUNDRED!! :-( divided between the type of calibers you want. for instance, 30 12ga slugs, 100 22lr, 70 45acp.. -.-
@ibook06 Ha! I got you beat! In the Philippines, you are allowed to have ONE box of ammo of any caliber per year. That's 50 rounds of anything. And that requires a letter (Permit to Possess) from the firearms and explosives unit of the national police to allow the vender to sell it to you. And it can't leave your house, since that requires a separate carry permit.
wear i'm from the police limit how many rounds you may keep and buy; bascially you hold as much you can justfy! then its stated on your liance! and self defence IS NOT considered a good reason for having a gun over !
Thanks for that info I thought 1000 rounds would be the proper minimum and a friend said no just a few hundred unfortunately zombies eat up a lot of bullets so once again thanks for the knowledge.
this video is to encourage you to go and to kill people this is not a clevr move, with that money you can build a water engine or a self powering engine, be smart people think smart
@ciocanlica Well this is supposedly for an "emergency" but for the most part, I guess you'll have to need just about 2-3 boxes. that should be good enough. Too bad for us here in my country, we have certain limits on how much ammo you can bring in your person, and how much you can store at home. Although of course, the richer people can avail of more ammo stored at home. The government here is a bit afraid of what the elite might do with excess ammo, with all extrajudicial killings
@ciocanlica A water engine or self powering engine won't help you during a mob mentality or riot during moments of natural disaster like Katrina, or political disaster like the Occupy Movements, or god forbid this country ever experiences anything like the other counties are experiencing. You need to defend yourself AND have your "water engine".
it is easy to find ammo cans at flea markets or hardware stores. theres one i know (hardware store) and they sell ammo cans for about 5 $ for .50's and maybe 10 for artillery shell rounds.
1,000 rounds per caliber is just a number you pulling from farting. You should carry enough rounds for the life-span of the barrel of the gun. So, if your barrel is rated 5,000 round, keep 5,000 rounds. Once your barrel is gone, then there is no point in having ammo.
ALso, when the Iraq war was going full blown. .223 ammo was running short hear in the USA because the manufacturer where sending everything over to the arm services. There was a 6 month stretch where .308 cal and .223 was limited. Stocking up makes sense and as our dollar depreciates ammo will only go up in value.
I agree! 1,000 rounds per caliber (per gun) I store my ammo the same way in Ammo cans. Vasoline works good on the rubber seals as well. .22 cal stock more.
Save your brass and after you have a coffee can or two of used brass reloading becomes more economical. Your main battle weapon (long gun and side arm) you should have 3 separated locations for ammo. Your bug out bag to go is the 1st Your main storage place (where ever you keep the rest of your ammo 2nd. And a hidden 3rd place. 1000 rds
Though there is no real "need" per se, I do rotate my ammo. I often buy a few boxes for a range outing and grab a spare for longterm storage. When the dates start getting "up there" on the long term boxes, I'll often grab five boxes for a range outing and replace with five fresh boxes. Just a CYA option. I figure, I have just as much fun with ten year old ammo as the fresh stuff.
Currently have 2500 rounds of 5.56 NATO green tip about 500 5.56 tracer. .. Roughly 500 9mm luger 100 9mm makarov ,100 7.62 x 38 mm, 500 7.62 x54 various types .. 100 50 bmg , 1000 7.62x39 mm .. and I have no clue on .22 lr two ammo cases full ..
i doubt that in any of our lifetimes there will be a need for this. however i agree with stock pileing ammo for whatever reason, self defence war whatever it may be. i would stock pile ammo so you can go shooting with buddies or family whenever and not worry about buying it. if a war situation ever did break out, no need to over think it, a simple frying pan is all you need
Don't waste your money stocking up on thousands of rounds, a couple hundred rounds would be enough. If the shit ever really did hit the fan, You'll be able to strip plenty of ammo from the dead. Same with Rifles, one, maybe two is enough. If You need more, there will be plenty of them laying on the ground.
Another ammo storage tip - don't keep all one caliber in a box, mix up a bit of each of your "useable" guns in each box, so theoretically you could grab any box and have all the kinds of ammo you need. I keep a ratio specific tender of 4 kinds in my SHTF supply, about 20:30:40:10 of .223:9mm:22LR:12ga respectively AND some variation within calibers in each box as well, some subsonics, HP/hunting, target so each box is ready. Don't be naive about being able to quickly move 5k rounds. It's heavy.
@Astroformer What you are describing is a "Go Pack", either in an ammo can or bandoleer, and more associated with caches and mini caches. If you have truly standardized on your ammo needs, or don't care about tracking case lot numbers for safety and logistics, Then you could break up your stock up that way. For me, I track case lot numbers in case of product recalls. And what would you do if you shot up all ammo of a certain caliber in the pack? Raid another pack for that type?
@Astroformer Here is an example of why you want to keep track of your lot numbers. "Hornady Ammo Recall": Product Details: Item number 9249

Aymoo layests for a looooooong time. Moyer amyounition Kaint be a bayad ideya.............SPEAK THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You hillibillys make rappers sound literate.
I found some military surplus .45 ACP that was from WWII. I bought these rounds in the mid 70's and forgot about them... Guess what... it shot just fine. Ammo lasts a long time.
I would like to have 1000 rounds per caliber. Of course, I only have 2 calibers at the moment. 9 millimeter, and .223/5.56. I have found that Federal ammo from Wal-Mart works really nice with the 9 millimeters, and it is fairly cheap. And American Eagle for the .223 from a local gun store works well in the AR-15. Both are fairly cheap, and good quality. Just recently went and shot about 300 rounds through each weapon and never had a problem.
Try out a box of foreign ammo in your gun before buying in bulk. I purchased 1000 rds of ppu ammo in 40 S&W, and they fail to eject every single round in the first box, like they are under-pressured. I returned the rest.
@recordmanful If you belong to a club, ask around for someone who reloads and has a chrono. Have him take a sampling of your ammo and pull the bullets off and measure the powder charge and compare for consistency of load. Then have him shoot shoot a another sampling through the chrono and get accurate FPS readings. If the numbers are all over the place, never buy that ammo again. If the numbers are consistent, then your gun may simply not like the ammo.
You shouldn't use oil based products on the rubber seals of your ammo cans. It will break down the rubber. Go to an auto parts store and pick up 100% Silicone Lubricant, spray it on and massage it into the rubber.
@neosteeled001 to make them submersible and work you need to put a thick jelly that is not water based on the O-rings that way they can take greater pressures
Good stuff. Interesting point thouggh. Do you batch test your stockpiled stuff every now and then? Also do you work to FIFO as in First in First out? I.e. say you are going out varmint shooting, making the point of using the oldest reliable ammo in your collection of that particular calibre first? Thus if that stuff is working well then surely the newer stuff is bound to be working? Anyway nice site and very informative even for those of us in the UK with the tightest gun laws in the world!
@RocketScientist79 If the ammo is sealed like the south african battle packs, and the military spam/sardine cans, I would leave them as is since they are set for very long term storage. I would segregate 1000 rd cases of specific ammo for the sport/purpose along with the particular gun that will use it. Loose boxes I would use up on first in first out basis.
10,000 rounds of 5.56 is what I have plus, 2000 rounds of 45. ACP, 900 30-60, Plus I also have 1000 rounds of 9mm. Overall I would say I am well stocked as far as ammo. But thanks for the tips I'll keep them in mind
It sounds kinda bad, But you should find out the population of your city or county, and times that by 3, 4 if you can afford it. That's how much ammo you should have.
@neosteeled001 That is if you're a bad shot. Not everyone is a sniper. 3 - 4 times ammo to population offers you and average of 2.5 - 3.5 misses per. If you can't make it by the third shot, you probably won't hit it at all.
@paintballingguy How will you account for people in transist that are caught in your area of operations when the civil unrest occurs? (You are aware that I'm pulling your leg?)
@neosteeled001 Standard deviation of populations are about %5 of registered population unless you live in a major city then it is about %15 during the day and back down to %5 at night. This is well within your 2.5 - 3.5 per. I don't care if you're joking or not, they are good questions.
@tripwire1000 simply put. Proof. would you listen to someone that couldn't back up what they say. someone could say they have a state of the art machine but if you don't see any proof that it is in their possession than its B.S. most times its a fishing story till you actually see it. you know the one liner "IT WAS THIS BIG" but nothing to show for it
@davebladston6 this is solid advice! to the OP all that ammo is no good if you do not have away to load it quickly or if your forced to relocate. i would suggest buying magazines/stripper clips and preloading them. in a firefight ammo goes quicker than cheap wine.
Before stocking up, figure out which brand/weight/etc. your gun shoots best. Some guns will shoot significantly more or less accurately with certain bullets than with others regardless of the quality of the bullets.
@neosteeled001 Also, I said early on that my "main" guns are 2 9mm glocks and 2 AR-15s, I never said those were my only guns in those calibers. And when did i say anything about your harness? Yeah, I only have one type of mags in my harness to (duh).
@Vyppaaa11 You also posted that you prefer to stock 5000 rounds for your "Gun". Frankly,I think you are splitting hairs. If you want a simplified logistic for your self defense needs, go for it. I have multiple weapons systems and must stock accordingly.
@neosteeled001 I said atleast one, and if we're talking about distinguishing magazines in the dark do you really think we're talking about competition shooting? I even said in my first comment (I think it was my first comment) that i was talking about "when shit goes down" ammo. Competition is a completely different conversation entirely. I also have several different guns .22s, .410s, .45s, .40S&Ws ect. I just stock pile the ammo for the main guns.
@Vyppaaa11 I generally don't speak of this subject in public with strangers but you seem game so. The calibers I listed are the most common in use for the US. In a TEOTWAWKI situation...
@Vyppaaa11 Pt. 3 If you are referring to an immediate crisis scenario such as home invasion, or urban unrest, you would be well advised to have at least one spare mag next to your pistol.
@Vyppaaa11 Pt. 4 I have 4 mags in a single holder attached to my battle harness and my nightstand Glock has 32 rd stick. That harness also has mags for the rifle that I will use if needed.
@SAUNDERSacts2618 If you store it in a air tight ammo can, pretty much forever. If you leave it on your shelf, about 20 plus years. If you leave it in the cardboard box down in a damp basement, you have a 50/50 chance of failure to fire. I personally still have ammo that I bought when I first started shooting in 1994, and the occasional test firing still shows that the ammo is good. And that is with regular storage in an ammo locker. BTW, my WW II ammo still goes bang.
2000 rounds of ur main weapon. 1000 of back up weaponry. 500 of #4 buck for clearing a area. Last but not least 5000 rounds of 22 good all a round caliber not much u can't hunt and take down in the usa for food.
@neosteeled001 it is a simple question, am I better off with 5000 rounds of 9mm and 5000 rounds of 5.56 NATO and atleast one well built firearm for each or should i spred myself thin with 1000 rounda of several different calibers and a different gun for each? answer me that one question
@Vyppaaa11 If you only have and want one pistol, and one rifle, then buy whatever quantity of ammo you want. I have more than one, and I have more than 5000 rounds of each of the calibers I shoot. I think you are confused about self defense shooting and competitive shooting. As I said, I have more than one gun.
@neosteeled001 well have fun trying to tell a glock 21 mag from a 22 mag in the dark with adrenaline pumping. have fun trying to distinguish between. 380 and 9mm in the dark. have run haveing to switch from a M-14 to and AK when you run out of 7.62 NATO.
@Vyppaaa11 I am pretty sure that I will be able to tell my G-21 mag from my 1911 mag. I will also be able to tell my G-21 mag from my G-17 mag. Or my G-19 mag for that matter. Did I mention that I have a duty harness with all the things I need ready to go? That includes all the mags I feel that I will need to deal with a home invasion scenario. And any weapon that is in ready status will have between 5 and 10 mags at full capacity. I actually have given this some thought.
Your plan beats what I was going to work on since I was only going to be keeping 4-6 boxes around; about 200-300 rounds. My plan was to keep fresh ammo always cycling in and out so that it never staled; take a couple of boxes to the range, use them up, buy replacement ammo from the range. The range ammo is the same price as most other 9mm and .45 ammo as I've found online and in shops, so cost isn't particularly an issue.
Good tips! Once the gun show hits LA again, I'm there for ammo and cans!
i have 300 rounds for my 9mm but i want 400-600 rounds in total stock, of course i will buy a box from time to time to shoot with but yeah 400 to 600 rounds is my goal for 9mm and as much .223 as i can get.
Ive kind of been wondering what others have decided on an amount of ammo to have on hand. I have collected up 1000 rounds for my 9mm and my .40. Im currently low on .223, (I think I have 300 rounda approx.) but I am getting ready to order some, just looking for the best price. My goal is to have 1500 of 9mm and .40 and as many .223 as I can afford. Like you, I also stock .22, I have about 8000, maybe more, its been a while since I counted. I too use the military ammo cans. Thanks for the vid.
@neosteeled001 also, charging magazines is enough of a hassle, switching from a 9mm to a. 45 could be deadly. Your best bet is picking one rifle caliber and one pistol caliber and making sure you have enough of it to not run out. I'm not saying that you shouldn't own guns of all calibers but only stock pile for your main gun(s)
@Vyppaaa11 In the dead of the night, I have a ready harness with all the needed accessories and magazines to sustain a sufficient volume of fire for at least 10 min. That should buy me enough time to get to my armory and the BIG toys. In actual practice, I do keep my things, particularly magazines organized and I have sufficient proficiency that even in the dark, I can tell if I have the right mag or not.
@neosteeled001@neosteeled001 I am in no way claiming that 5.56 is the best caliber (I really don't feel like starting that argument) , that is just my go to rifle caliber. and labelling ammo cans is a no brainer (duh), but if I grab an ammo can with say a strip of red tape around the handle I know that it is 5.56, yellow 9mm, blue 12 gauge and so on. I dont have to read the can and see if it is .45acp or. 45 colt.
@Vyppaaa11 Well Vppaaaa11, I would agree that stocking only the calibers that you will use is the most sensible thing to do. As for myself, I participate in several shooting sports, as well as train for self defense shooting. And the way i organize my armory, I really don't think that it is likely that I will be grabbing the wrong magazine for my nightstand pistol since they would have been pre-positioned already.
@neosteeled001 true, but why should I buy 1000 rounds of of each type of ammo when I plan on using one gun? basically why shouldn't I buy 5000 rounds of 5.56 instead of buying 1000 rounds 5.45, a 1000 rounds of 7.62×39, a 1000 rounds of 7.62×51, a 1000 rounds of 7.62×54, a 1000 rounds of 5.7×28, a 1000 rounds of .30-06, a 1000 rounds of. 30-30 ect
@Vyppaaa11 I view firearms as tools designed for specific tasks but I do stick with common calibers that I have chosen to stockpile. Those calibers are .22lr, .380cal, .38spl, 9mm, .45acp, .223rem, .308cal, 7.62x39mm, and 12ga, As a competitive shooter, I buy in quantities of 1000 rds per case because I do not want to risk having different ballistics which may vary with case lots, as well as I get a deal with bulk buys. I wouldn't want to stock something I don't use of course.
There is absolutely ZERO need for that much ammo. The only reason you should have anywhere close to that amount is if it was on sale, or you bought milsurp... Seriously why stock pile ammo? You look like a headcase, and it's a liability should you're house be broken into. There is no need for 1000 rounds PER gun. Buy it on a As Needed basis... Realistically if SHTF are you going to be able to carry thousands of rounds? No. Fucking stupidity.
@VKPlays Apparently, youre not concerned with the coming Zombie Apocalypse! Lol. This guy was kinda wierd, but hey, who doesnt like bullets? ........if i gave you that much ammo, you wouldnt be like " fuck off" you'd be at the range like all the time.
@VKPlays Check the prices of any caliber of ammo per box 1 year, 2 years, 5 years ago. Now, compare that same type ammo today. Ever notice that prices never seem to go downwards? Just the economics alone makes bulk buys sensible. And the average amount of ammo used in a typical match is 300 plus. And If there is a societal crisis like a hurricane, natural disaster, or civil unrest, guess what are among the first things to be restricted by local/state authorities? Gun and ammo.

for example my main guns are 2 5.56 AR-15s, 2 12 gauge shotguns and 2 9mm glocks. i have other guns in other calibers but that way when i need ammo i just have to grab the 5.56 12 gauge or 9mm and im good. No grabbing .40 S&W when i need. 45 acp, no grabbing 5.45 when i need 5.56, no grabbing 16 gauge when i need 12.
this an example of terrible thinking, you should pick one rifle caliber and one pistol caliber (and maybe a shotgun) and buy that (in large quantities) fr your "when shit goes down" or "bug out" or "zombie apocalypse" ammo. You dont want to be digging through ammo can after ammo can to find your specific ammo.
@Vyppaaa11 Perhaps labelling the ammo cans might help you in locating the right caliber you need. I've never had problems with my getting the right stuff went I need it.
just have enough ammo to get you from point a to point b(ammo) with enough to take down anyone inbetween then take all the free ammo u want. if the shtf then its a free for all. i once thought about stock piling ammo but then i was like this is stupid cuz i cant even carry all of it. i got a shtf backpack i have ready if anything goes and all i have to do is grab that and im ready to get busy
“Fixed fortifications are a monument to the stupidity of man.” - Geo S. Patton. To all you preppers sitting on tens of thousands of rounds of ammo - thank you from the future road warriors. Sitting in your "castles", you will eventually be killed. It is a mathematical certainty - and all your stocks will go to others who in turn will fight others over it. Anything more than you can quickly pack up and move with is a waste. Mobility is the key to survival - not staying put.
@Calkirk19 - you think a handful of people with guns is going to hold back a horde of refugees from the cities. lol!! There are an estimated 200 million firearms in the US and 350 million people at last count. Guns don't mean shit - lots of people will have guns. In just the top 50 cities in the US - there are over 50 million people! If only 10% of those left the cities you'd have 5+ million people on foot. You going to shoot them all?? Preppers = drive-thru lunch. lol!
@redlegagent ok well first of all not all these people are randomly going to wander to him. and most importantly these people in the cities and highly populated areas will be conflicting with themselves before they ever run into this guy. those that do have guns will have to use their ammo in these conflicts and many might not make it. how could it possibly be safer to not be prepared with a lot of ammunition. on the road is where the starving people will be, and where the danger is
@Calkirk19 - I didn't say you shouldn't prepare or stock some ammo. My point is the people who are building "bunkers" stocked with years of food and thousands of rounds of ammo are going to be innundated by others at some point. Yes, people in the cities are going to fight it out at first, then they are going to hit the road. There are literally tens of millions of people living in urban areas across the US - if only a small percentage of them go on the road - that's a lot of people.
@redlegagent so with 200 million other firearms what do you propose we should do? NOT have guns and ammo? and I would confidently say that my handful of people would be able to defend against a group 3-4 times our numbers BECAUSE I have prepared. thats kinda the whole point in being a "prepper" Youre also forgetting that many of your "City" gun owners have never even been way out in the sticks. without some survival skills and supplies you wont even reach me where I will be.
@redlegagent I think you're right. My idea for SHTF is the time honored tradition of theft and looting. If someone prepares and sets up stockpiles, I have one convenient place to hit, and if it's out in the country there are limitless paths of approach. Easy mark, and I bet it would be easy to get in and out without someone noticing.
@redlegagent Interesting thought. Here is another thought. A person who is prepared, has the means to survive for a time dependent on the amount of supplies stored. A person who has only the clothes on his back and carrying only whatever they can, is a refugee dependent on the charity and whims of others. A person who has only the clothes on his back and a gun is a brigand and is in as much danger from other brigands as well as the people with "castles".
I understand the concept of being prepared, but what I didn't quite get from this video is this: What is the possible scenario (or scenarios) for which an individual living in a reasonably civilised society needs to prepare for by stockpiling ammunition? Hundreds of looters or burglars suddenly appearing in an aftermath of a natural disaster? A civil war breaking out? A total and complete collapse of the society resulting in an anarchy... sort of Mad Max scenario?
Anyone who's wondering about how long your ammo will last, you have to keep in mind that there is mil-surp ammo out there for sale that was loaded as far back as the 1930 & 40's, AND you usually don't have more than a handful of misfires in THOUSANDS of rounds. As long as you keep your ammo (esp. recently manufactured and PROPERLY hand-loaded ammo) in a cool, dry place that's out of the sun, it will probably last as long as YOU do.
The 1K min. is a good starting point, but I'd push it to 2.
I do think ammo is a good thing to stock up on, I think that several 1000 rounds would be a bit much. I would have plenty of All of the calibers you own, instead of a lot of one, I know you have Alot of all of yours, I'm just trying to help the people like me that cannot afford all of this. Focus on readily available ammo such as 9mm and 12 gauge and also .223 if you have the means
Good vid mate. Another reason to buy quality ammunition is that if the cases are good then you can reload them, meaning you can replenish you ammount of ammunition for alot cheaper than buying factory ammunition.
Hey sootch like your video, your aware what happened after katrina i'm sure! how do you feel about the government disarming american citizenz in a time of crisis?

Enjoy your guns. I'm working my hardest to make sure in another 20 years guns in America will be illegal.

ibook06 4 days ago
@ibook06 Ha! I got you beat! In the Philippines, you are allowed to have ONE box of ammo of any caliber per year. That's 50 rounds of anything. And that requires a letter (Permit to Possess) from the firearms and explosives unit of the national police to allow the vender to sell it to you. And it can't leave your house, since that requires a separate carry permit.

BlackbirdSkyline 1 week ago
@ciocanlica A water engine or self powering engine won't help you during a mob mentality or riot during moments of natural disaster like Katrina, or political disaster like the Occupy Movements, or god forbid this country ever experiences anything like the other counties are experiencing. 1,000 rounds per caliber is just a number you pulling from farting. You should carry enough rounds for the life-span of the barrel of the gun. So, if your barrel is rated 5,000 round, keep 5,000 rounds. Once your barrel is gone, then there is no point in having ammo.
sok8888 1 week ago
ALso, when the Iraq war was going full blown. .223 ammo was running short hear in the USA because the manufacturer where sending everything over to the arm services. There was a 6 month stretch where .308 cal and .223 was limited. Stocking up makes sense and as our dollar depreciates ammo will only go up in value.
Mr2wings 1 week ago

I would like to have 1000 rounds per caliber. Of course, I only have 2 calibers at the moment. 9 millimeter, and .223/5.56. I have found that Federal ammo from Wal-Mart works really nice with the 9 millimeters, and it is fairly cheap. And American Eagle for the .223 from a local gun store works well in the AR-15. Both are fairly cheap, and good quality. Just recently went and shot about 300 rounds through each weapon and never had a problem.
treysturgeon 2 weeks ago
Try out a box of foreign ammo in your gun before buying in bulk. I purchased 1000 rds of ppu ammo in 40 S&W, and they fail to eject every single round in the first box, like they are under-pressured. I returned the rest.
recordmanful 2 weeks ago
@recordmanful good advice..but you can also read reviews on the ammo..if there is now review i don't even buy it.no matter how cheap it is..
JUKEBOXX1990 2 weeks ago
@recordmanful If you belong to a club, ask around for someone who reloads and has a chrono. Have him take a sampling of your ammo and pull the bullets off and measure the powder charge and compare for consistency of load. Then have him shoot shoot a another sampling through the chrono and get accurate FPS readings. If the numbers are all over the place, never buy that ammo again. If the numbers are consistent, then your gun may simply not like the ammo.

RocketScientist79 2 weeks ago
@RocketScientist79 If the ammo is sealed like the south african battle packs, and the military spam/sardine cans, I would leave them as is since they are set for very long term storage. @paintballingguy What if you are a bad shot?
neosteeled001 2 weeks ago
@neosteeled001 That is if you're a bad shot. Not everyone is a sniper. 3 - 4 times ammo to population offers you and average of 2.5 - 3.5 misses per. If you can't make it by the third shot, you probably won't hit it at all.
paintballingguy 2 weeks ago
@paintballingguy How will you account for people in transist that are caught in your area of operations when the civil unrest occurs? (You are aware that I'm pulling your leg?)

@neosteeled001 Standard deviation of populations are about %5 of registered population unless you live in a major city then it is about %15 during the day and back down to %5 at night. This is well within your 2.5 - 3.5 per. I don't care if you're joking or not, they are good questions.

Did I mention that I have a duty harness with all the things I need ready to go? That includes all the mags I feel that I will need to deal with a home invasion scenario. And any weapon that is in ready status will have between 5 and 10 mags at full capacity. I actually have given this some thought.
neosteeled001 2 weeks ago
Your plan beats what I was going to work on since I was only going to be keeping 4-6 boxes around; about 200-300 rounds. My plan was to keep fresh ammo always cycling in and out so that it never staled; take a couple of boxes to the range, use them up, buy replacement ammo from the range. The range ammo is the same price as most other 9mm and .45 ammo as I've found online and in shops, so cost isn't particularly an issue.
Good tips! Once the gun show hits LA again, I'm there for ammo and cans!

WolverinesR3 3 weeks ago
Ive kind of been wondering what others have decided on an amount of ammo to have on hand. I have collected up 1000 rounds for my 9mm and my .40. Im currently low on .223, (I think I have 300 rounda approx.) but I am getting ready to order some, just looking for the best price. My goal is to have 1500 of 9mm and .40 and as many .223 as I can afford. Like you, I also stock .22, I have about 8000, maybe more, its been a while since I counted. I too use the military ammo cans. Thanks for the vid.
mstidham6842 3 weeks ago
@neosteeled001 also, charging magazines is enough of a hassle, switching from a 9mm to a. 45 could be deadly. Your best bet is picking one rifle caliber and one pistol caliber and making sure you have enough of it to not run out. I'm not saying that you shouldn't own guns of all calibers but only stock pile for your main gun(s)
Vyppaaa11 3 weeks ago
@Vyppaaa11 In the dead of the night, I have a ready harness with all the needed accessories and magazines to sustain a sufficient volume of fire for at least 10 min. That should buy me enough time to get to my armory and the BIG toys. In actual practice, I do keep my things, particularly magazines organized and I have sufficient proficiency that even in the dark, I can tell if I have the right mag or not.
neosteeled001 3 weeks ago
@neosteeled001 @neosteeled001 I am in no way claiming that 5.56 is the best caliber (I really don't feel like starting that argument) , that is just my go to rifle caliber. and labelling ammo cans is a no brainer (duh), but if I grab an ammo can with say a strip of red tape around the handle I know that it is 5.56, yellow 9mm, blue 12 gauge and so on. I dont have to read the can and see if it is .45acp or. 45 colt.
Vyppaaa11 3 weeks ago
@Vyppaaa11 Well Vppaaaa11, I would agree that stocking only the calibers that you will use is the most sensible thing to do. As for myself, I participate in several shooting sports, as well as train for self defense shooting. And the way i organize my armory, I really don't think that it is likely that I will be grabbing the wrong magazine for my nightstand pistol since they would have been pre-positioned already.
neosteeled001 3 weeks ago
@neosteeled001 true, but why should I buy 1000 rounds of of each type of ammo when I plan on using one gun? basically why shouldn't I buy 5000 rounds of 5.56 instead of buying 1000 rounds 5.45, a 1000 rounds of 7.62×39, a 1000 rounds of 7.62×51, a 1000 rounds of 7.62×54, a 1000 rounds of 5.7×28, a 1000 rounds of .30-06, a 1000 rounds of. 30-30 ect
Vyppaaa11 3 weeks ago
@Vyppaaa11 I view firearms as tools designed for specific tasks but I do stick with common calibers that I have chosen to stockpile. Those calibers are .22lr, .380cal, .38spl, 9mm, .45acp, .223rem, .308cal, 7.62x39mm, and 12ga, As a competitive shooter, I buy in quantities of 1000 rds per case because I do not want to risk having different ballistics which may vary with case lots, as well as I get a deal with bulk buys. I wouldn't want to stock something I don't use of course.
neosteeled001 3 weeks ago
There is absolutely ZERO need for that much ammo. The only reason you should have anywhere close to that amount is if it was on sale, or you bought milsurp... Seriously why stock pile ammo? You look like a headcase, and it's a liability should you're house be broken into. There is no need for 1000 rounds PER gun. Buy it on a As Needed basis... Realistically if SHTF are you going to be able to carry thousands of rounds? No. Fucking stupidity.

And If there is a societal crisis like a hurricane, natural disaster, or civil unrest, guess what are among the first things to be restricted by local/state authorities? Gun and ammo.

just have enough ammo to get you from point a to point b(ammo) with enough to take down anyone inbetween then take all the free ammo u want. if the shtf then its a free for all. i once thought about stock piling ammo but then i was like this is stupid cuz i cant even carry all of it. i got a shtf backpack i have ready if anything goes and all i have to do is grab that and im ready to get busy

It's to pretend a SHTF scenario will happen, but it won't.

@redlegagent i would love to see the math
Calkirk19 3 weeks ago
@Calkirk19 - you think a handful of people with guns is going to hold back a horde of refugees from the cities. lol!! There are an estimated 200 million firearms in the US and 350 million people at last count. Guns don't mean shit - lots of people will have guns. In just the top 50 cities in the US - there are over 50 million people! If only 10% of those left the cities you'd have 5+ million people on foot. You going to shoot them all?? Preppers = drive-thru lunch. lol!
redlegagent 3 weeks ago
@redlegagent ok well first of all not all these people are randomly going to wander to him. and most importantly these people in the cities and highly populated areas will be conflicting with themselves before they ever run into this guy. those that do have guns will have to use their ammo in these conflicts and many might not make it. how could it possibly be safer to not be prepared with a lot of ammunition. on the road is where the starving people will be, and where the danger is
Calkirk19 3 weeks ago
@Calkirk19 - I didn't say you shouldn't prepare or stock some ammo. My point is the people who are building "bunkers" stocked with years of food and thousands of rounds of ammo are going to be innundated by others at some point. Yes, people in the cities are going to fight it out at first, then they are going to hit the road. There are literally tens of millions of people living in urban areas across the US - if only a small percentage of them go on the road - that's a lot of people.
redlegagent 3 weeks ago
@redlegagent so with 200 million other firearms what do you propose we should do? NOT have guns and ammo? and I would confidently say that my handful of people would be able to defend against a group 3-4 times our numbers BECAUSE I have prepared. thats kinda the whole point in being a "prepper" Youre also forgetting that many of your "City" gun owners have never even been way out in the sticks. without some survival skills and supplies you wont even reach me where I will be.
jerobinson30 3 weeks ago
@redlegagent I think you're right. My idea for SHTF is the time honored tradition of theft and looting. If someone prepares and sets up stockpiles, I have one convenient place to hit, and if it's out in the country there are limitless paths of approach. Easy mark, and I bet it would be easy to get in and out without someone noticing.
CitrusLizard 3 weeks ago
@CitrusLizard I believe that you are working on the premise that the people you are going to be stealing from will not defend themselves.
neosteeled001 3 weeks ago
@neosteeled001 Not at all, I am presuming that just because you have the means to defend yourself does not mean you are immune to being stolen from.
CitrusLizard 3 weeks ago
@redlegagent Interesting thought. Here is another thought. A person who is prepared, has the means to survive for a time dependent on the amount of supplies stored. A person who has only the clothes on his back and carrying only whatever they can, is a refugee dependent on the charity and whims of others. A person who has only the clothes on his back and a gun is a brigand and is in as much danger from other brigands as well as the people with "castles".

I need ammo for a 88 magnum !
Kilroy84ful 3 weeks ago
I understand the concept of being prepared, but what I didn't quite get from this video is this: What is the possible scenario (or scenarios) for which an individual living in a reasonably civilised society needs to prepare for by stockpiling ammunition? Hundreds of looters or burglars suddenly appearing in an aftermath of a natural disaster? A civil war breaking out? A total and complete collapse of the society resulting in an anarchy... sort of Mad Max scenario?

@passion4security Ask the people in New Orleans just how long civilized society lasted for them after the hurricane hit.

The 1K min. is a good starting point, but I'd push it to 2.

iNf3rNuSdI4bLuS1 3 weeks ago
I do think ammo is a good thing to stock up on, I think that several 1000 rounds would be a bit much. I would have plenty of All of the calibers you own, instead of a lot of one, I know you have Alot of all of yours, I'm just trying to help the people like me that cannot afford all of this. Focus on readily available ammo such as 9mm and 12 gauge and also .223 if you have the means

Good vid mate. Another reason to buy quality ammunition is that if the cases are good then you can reload them, meaning you can replenish you ammount of ammunition for alot cheaper than buying factory ammunition.
