Oh, so you ARE pro-rodeo. Sorry. This isn't as bad as calf-roping, or single-steer roping. That horse wasn't lame when it got up. The PRCA isn't exactly squeaky clean in the abuse department. Just watch the NFR, lots of abusive behaviour there.
Sorry, should have read further back in the comments. Happy New Year, anyway:)
i know using the hotshot on them is bad and cruel but the guys using the hotshots did not push the button at all they just poke them with it to make them move. if your going to post shit or say anything about this why dont you just get your fucking facts right and get up close and learn our tradition! so you stupid people wont be talking shit. if your going to band this then band streer wrestling and team rope and branding cause dont you think it hurts the steers as well?
ok look for the last time this is a fucking accident!! the horse trip by itself! the charro was running to help to take off the rope. he did not intend to pull the rope. the horse was not limping at all!! the reason why it continues the event beacause it is not hurt inanyway. i know i was there when that happened im the one in the yellow shirt on 2:39. if you accutally read your facts horses can go days without water. after the whole event of the charreria was over we feed and gave water to them
And what did the horse ever do to those ass holes?!? Horse are beautiful creatures that should defenetly not be neglected, no animal should ever be misstreaded,, all of those idiots out there that do this kind of stuff, should he the ones chassed after, pinned down, electrifyed!! Give em a taste of their own medicin for a change!
Thanks for posting. the supporters insist it doesn't hurt. I guess this is just an example of "whoops, OH, sorry, horse, didn't MEAN to hurt you!" Leave the poor beasts alone, get your jollies off on each other. Sick twisted cruelty, that's rodeo, on both sides of the border. Although, honestly?? American rodeo is more nauseating..
If there wasnt any abuse to rodeos i think i would actually like them but no. There will always be the idiots that let the horribly animal that a human in lose upon a beautiful part of nature... Sadly not all people are sophisticated and humaine
how the hell would 5 people like to see innocent horses being put through hell?!?! If I ever run into one one u watch out cause there will be hell to pay!!!!!!! why does anybody even think of hurting a beautiful animal!! As a horse lover and owner I never like seeing lovely animals put through misery :'( I hate everyone who likes and includes themselves in this horrible 'thing'!!! BURN IN HELL!!!!!!!!! :'(
THAT IS SO FUCKING WRONG, HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF YOU WERE CHASED AROUND IN A PEN UNTILL YOU ARE RUN DOWN ONTO YOUR BACK OR EVEN INJURED, AND JUST ELECTRACUTIING THEM IS SICK!
I CANT EVEN IMAGINE THE PAIN THEY WOULD BE GOING THROUGH,
What kind of sport is this exactly?? Maybe I'm missing the point. Yeah let's take a rope, a bunch of other horses, chase one down and trip it with a rope. And continue that repeatedly, all the while terrorizing the poor thing .That's an F'n sport?? I find it cruel and completely unneccessary!! If this truly is happening in the U.S, then something really needs to be done about it. Humans are often INHUMANE! Hmm and we call them, "animals."
This is a sport, in which many of you neglect to acknowledge we have gotten our own ideas from. But who am I to suggest anything to a bunch of animal rights freaks. I am merely a horse fanatic.
This is not an excuse to cause any living thing to feel pain or die inhumanely. One thing has nothing to do with the other. ANY life should be kept sacred unless it has a lack of RESPECT for any other living creature. Furthermore, anyone who enjoys watching ANY living thing in pain is insensitive and should not be shown compassion in any circumstance.
@gigilicious1105 Back in 69, I had a man breath his last breath on my cheek. Since then I have cherished human life. It always amazes me when people want other people to die, because of animals. It shows the extreme immaturity of most animal rights fanatics.
umm excuse me i have been to plenty of rodeos in the back front even was able to pet and feed the broncs you know how they get the horses up the chute?? they tap their butts with a lasso and i have also been kicked out of a mexican rodeo for taking a whip from a man that was whipping his horse to death and now im going to be racist if all you mexicans want to abuse horses go back to your country and do it there!!!!!! and ive seen some of Sharks videos he doesnt tell the whole story so fuck off
Its all racism! I dont see any videos fighting steer wrestling, or steeplechase! You guys call us sick mexicans and abusive when you guys are no different! And to the womam whp recorded this you lied and said you were taking pictures to put on the newspaper I was there and all horses had water and feed. So go ahead and try to take away horse tripping you dont have the money for it or enough proof liars you've failed many times before what makes you think this time will be different?!
@HerraduraDeElko I don't know who is calling you a "sick mexican." I think your culture could be presented beautifully. I think this event detracts from the beauty and needs to be left behind. I had hoped to go to an event and see some beautiful horsemanship and eat good food.
Instead I was horrified.
I kept hoping to see a change, something to redeem it. A vet or official stop it. There was no redemption.
This legislation has passed in many states, it needs to pass in Nevada.
hey when is their next event i wouldnt mind people tripping and using one of those cools yellow stick to stick it where the sun wont shine and tie them down and let the horses trample them doesnt that sound like FUN !!! how many of you agree
@Momoscooscoo PRCA rodeo uses hot shot on horses, they are just too sissy to do it up front and too stupid not to be video taped doing it. SHARK has a number of videos, some just a feww months old.
I am shocked and stunned that this is allowed to happen. I wish I could do the same to the "COWBOYS" that they are dishing out to these poor horses. Where is the humane organizations? This should be considered animal cruelty and a felony for each time a horse is tripped or hot shot! This is totally sickening.
Irrelevant minutiae. At the Senate Natural Resources Committee meeting on April 25, 2011, testimony entered alleged "these events don't happen in Nevada" and "the horse never goes down". The purpose of this video was to prove that testimony was false. End of story.
@HelpAnimalsNV What is irrelevant about killing calves with ropes. I am sure the calves would disagree with you. Also, horses fall in steeplechase, cross county, jumping and rodeo. Maybe they should be illegal in Nev. Since you are so concerned with hot shots, there is a nice video of PRCA officials electrifying horses this year at the National Finales on you tube. Maybe you should try to get them indicted under your theory.
@RMJ8757 The argument is irrelevant with respect to the purpose of this video and SB 364 - the legislation now in session. Again, the purpose of this video is to show that testimony given at the Senate Natural Resources Committee was false. No amount of filibuster will change nor distract from that fact.
@HelpAnimalsNV Three things are undeniably true. The horse in this video slipped. Horses are shocked in rodeo. Calf roping rips and tares the skin and even breaks the calf's neck. If you want to live up to your name, you would demand a stop to calf roping. You will not. As I said before. Animal rights freaks are motivated by greed, self importance and craziness.
@RMJ8757 It appears that the attempt currently is to muddy the issue. The Legislation addresses horse-tripping. It is a definition used in Legislation in many states.
Houston has one of the largest grossing rodeos in the country. Texas has a ban on horse-tripping. Traditional rodeo was not affected by that ban.
Your strategy here in Nevada was to imply that passing this bill would hurt traditional rodeo. It wont.
@DesertWomanNV I though you wanted to help animals. If yuou do, then outlaw calf roping. That is what I am saying. Be fair. Maybe you don't like those cute little calves. Maybe you like seeing their necks broken. What I am saying is don't be a hypocrite. Have some character. I think if Charreria should die, they so should rodeo. I don't like rodeo. It is crude and without style. That is the reason I want to sue Nebrasca.
@RMJ8757 You are very entertaining. Why don't you go sue "Nebrasca." This discussion is about the information given to the State Legislature of NEVADA that was untrue. That means that the decision is invalid and a Bill can be discussed again before this session ends.
Folks like you tried to gain support for your HORSE TRIPPING by claiming the Bill will hurt Nevada Rodeo. It wont.
Claim: HORSE TRIPPING DID NOT happen in NEVADA. Horses NEVER go down.
@DesertWomanNV t would take too much to explain the financial consequences to Nevada of a lawsuit against Nebraska. Still, the horse slipped, rodeo people hot shot horses, and rodeo is too hard on animals. If your concern is really animals and not something else, you would be demanding an end of multiple rodeo events. Your concern is not the welfare of animals. I don't like rodeo. It is crude, without any style and it is too hard on the animals.
@RMJ8757 Your site promotes these events. You have video that shows to the state that the statements made to the Legislature were false. You are proud of it.
No one here is attacking rodeo in general. That is of your making. You are hoping that claim will stop this from passing in Nevada. If you can create false fear you will keep your event.
@RMJ8757 The suggestion that every statute relating to violent crime would list every possible apparati to be utilized in said crime is absurd. Our laws would be hundreds upon thousands of pages long - EACH. NRS 200.366 doesn't list every apparatus one can use in a sexual assault, and yet, no matter what apparatus is used, including but not limited to a cattle prod, the crime will still be prosecuted as a felony. To condone or support cattle prodding of domestic horses is political suicide.
WHy do we continue to allow such barbaric treatment of animals continue. We humans are a bloodthirsty bunch who crave accidents in NASCAR, allow grown men to beat each other to a pulp in a ring which thousands cheer when blood is split and defenseless animals are totured everyday. For shame on those who participate in any fashion, those who buy the tickets to attend these events are as guilty of abuse as the ones actually tripping and using the cattle prods.
@DesertWomanNV First you complain about a horse that was not tripped, Now you bitch about hot shots. What you are saying is nonsense. Hot shots may make you jump, but they do not cause burns. A hot shot is powered by four D batteries. Furthermore a rope does not cut. It is not sharp enough. You and the rest of these crazies, obviously don't know anything about livestock. You just make stuff up as you go along. That is typical for animal rights fanatics.
@RMJ8757 Why do you keep responding like you do? Ropes cut. Anyone that has ever learned to use a rope knows a rope can cut.
Even Toby posted here that the hotshot to the face in unacceptable. Are you claiming Toby doesn't know what he's talking about?
The horse went down because it was run and ropes were thrown at it's legs. The ropes are very visible. If the event and ropes were not involved, the horse would not have gone down.
@DesertWomanNV There is a difference between intentionally tripping, which is what this video claimed and what is now conceded by you. Also, ropes do not cut. They can burn, but that takes a lot of friction. Also, I disagree with De La Torrie on most things. Hot shots are responsible tools, used to handle large dangerous animals. The PRCA, uses them all the time. They just have little hand held ones, that they hide. The fact is, none of the horses was seriously injured, in this Charreada.
@RMJ8757 The claim made to the Legislature was that "horse tripping" does NOT occur in Nevada and horses don't go down. This video shows the statements made were FALSE and the bill needs reconsideration.
That was the purpose of this video.
The other behaviors were outrageous and showed a disregard and disrespect to rodeo itself. Even down to smoking in the non-smoking event center. The hotshot to the face was disgusting.
No where in NRS 574, does it mention use of cattle prods or hot shots, on horses. Nor is there an appellate court decision saying the use of hot shots or cattle prods on horses constitutes a prohibited action. So what you see here is not a felony. You people are crazy. You can see that, by the claim the horse was tripped, when it clearly was not, and by the fact that you are obsessed by a 6'’ scratch and a small mark on its face. Horses get small injuries like that when transporting them.
And you my dear desertwomannv girl at your 50 years of age ya need to get your damn eyes checked cuz you keep seeing things that simply aren't there nite nite
Desertwomannv do not try to transpose what I meant.Do not try to lie your way through again.I am a supporter of honesty and the video plainly shows a horse being roped and released causing no injury whatsoever, And yes I am a loyal supporter of the TRUTH.
I did not see prodding in the face. I assure you that the Charro organizations do not approve of misuse of the elctric prod. You will all be happy to learn that the horse that fell is fine. It was filmed yesterday and further investigations will continue to ensure the reasonable use of livestock during Charro competition.
@TOBYD7 Two horses were hit in the face in plain view at least twice. It's on video. The horses were already bleeding and injured but were used the second day. Investigation? It's called "whitewash."
You already had a supporter state here that rural Nevada is a close knit family. There was expectation that nothing would happen. It's Nevada afterall.
Nice to know that my home is being looked at by the rest of the country as "animal abuser" heaven.
@DesertWomanNV Okay, I have seen the new video and I do see the prod in the face. The person will be dealt with. The investigation will continue. I was not aware of this whole situation until the Monday after the incidents so please ease up on the whitewash comments and negativity. I am not responsible for unknown supporters comments. We will do what we can to ensure the safety of all animals used in competition. What expectation? What rest of the Country? Please don't condemn your state.
More than 60 horses were roped. The fall of the horse was accidental. never the less we will determine what steps to take to avoid accidents. The initial investigation has confirmed: 1. A veterinarian was on site. The horses in question were diagnosed and a report was submitted as required.2. Adequate supplies of fresh water and feed was provided for livestock at all times as required.3. The use of electric prods is of great concern to us and we will thouroughly investigate the claims.
The official Charro organizations are conducting a thorough investigation regarding the Winnemucca Charro competition and event. We are very concerned about the welfare and treatment of all animals used in Charro competition. Strict rules and sanctions are in place, prohibiting the intentional felling of a horse during competition. They have been in place since the passing of the bill in 1995. Although the horse did trip and fall, it did not sustain injuries. The fall of the horse was accidental
Omg here we go again. Do not mistake horse tripping for horse roping. The Charros volunteered to take this portion out of the sport and substituted it with horse roping. In your so called evidence/video you clearly see a horse being roped, and released you see no tripping!!! I think your trippin. And by accident the horse slips. Please get this through you thick head
Testimony given at the Ban on Horse Tripping Senate Hearing "horse tripping does not happen in Nevada" - FALSE; "the horse NEVER goes down" - FALSE. As previously stated, the purpose of this video was simply 1) show horse tripping events take place in Nevada; 2) show the horse can go down. Both were proven. The rest is minutiae. False testimony was given at a senate hearing. That's the point.
Are you so blinded by your obsessions, that you cannot see the truth. You say the Charros, committed a felony, without any legal basis. You say they tripped a horse without any factual basis. You act as if a 6'' scratch is the same as an amputation. Animal rights fanatics lie for avarice, like Doyle. They lie to make themselves feel important like Lim. They lie because they are crazy. Which are you?
See there you go again lying I am not a charro I am a buckaroo born and raised in the state of the bighorn. AND NO WORRIES I DON'T WANT LOSERS ON MY SIDE. What did you think that they would be the only ones intererested in putting a stop to you?WRONG AGAIN!!! I WILL PUT A STOP TO ALL YOUR LIES!
Gotta love google I bet you can't even pronounce that big word without losing your dentures and I will continue to voice out the truth about you quacks!! You are not on our side when it comes to rodeos you try to manipulate people into seeing what is simply not there.I will sleep tonight and every night with a clean conscious mind unlike you.
@horselover2488 No I am NOT on YOUR side. I am on the side of legimate rodeo getting dragged through the mud by people who think hotshotting a horse in the face is "rodeo."
It's not.
What happened in Winnemucca IS NOT rodeo. It was animal abuse.
I'd like to see you "Charros" get on real bucking stock instead of a terrified, not even 14 hand, two year old. A two year old that already had bleeding legs from being repeatedly run with ropes thrown at her legs.
You wouln't belive what a close knit family Rural NV is The horse simply slipped the roping of horses is not against the law. DO NOT MISTAKE HORSE ROPING FOR HORSETRIPPING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES.ON YOUR VIDEO YOU CLEARLY SEE A HORSE BEING ROPED AND REALEASED AND BY MERE ACCIDENT IT SLIPS.YOU CAN SEE THE ANIMAL HAS NO DAMAGE WHAT SOEVER AND THERE WAS MORE THAN SKILLS THAT FILLED THAT ARENA I FEEL FOR YOU FOR MISSING OUTYOU ARE SIMPLY LOOKING TO BLAME FO SOMETHING NON-EXISTANT
@horselover2488 Honey, I know what a close knit "family" rural Nevada is. I'm not sure what you are implying by stating that. Are you implying that your family will help you cover up your abuse?
I will state again that I am pro-PCRA. When I saw those horses hotshot in the face you "excumuniated" yourself from any "family" I know. The continual abuse I witnessed has you so far from legimate rodeo you are a blip on the horizon.
horselover - There is no great conspiracy. The bills that HelpAnimalsNV are supporting (SB299, SB364, SB226, AB324, SB223) can all be found on our website. No ban on calf roping is among them. No calf roping ban was even presented in Nevada this session. Perhaps you are thinking of another animal group located in another state? Contrary to popular belief, animal groups do not hold secret meetings in catacombs, apprising one another of intent and agenda.
Desertwomannv I know exactly who you are, that's the scary part. you will stop at nothing to try to get people to believe your false accusations where in plain view you see the horse slip and yes you are behind banning calf roping in our rodeos. This particular video IS POOR EVIDENCE but suit yourself in trying to convince people what appears to be a simple slip.no harm done to the animal but you will never see this because you got to pay your bills somehow so you will continue with your lies.
@horselover2488 No honey, you don't know who I am. You think I am anti-rodeo. I am not. I am a rodeo supporter.
I am a horseperson. When I saw those hotshots to the face my blood went cold. When I saw how you treated these very young domestic horses, that you used repeatedly, my stomach turned. I saw you run horses that were terrified and continually throw ropes at legs that were already bleeding, at a two year old.
@RMJ8757 It falls under the definition of maiming. Few statutes list every possible maiming device which one could use. An umbrella term like "maim" includes many types of violent acts, to include use of an electric cattle prod on a domestic animal, and is prosecuted as such.
Respond to this video... The whole event and conduct of all participants and organizers will be thouroughly investigsated. We are positive that the horse that tripped was purely accidental and an isolated incident. we are very concerned with all aspects of safety and will make sure all rules, regs and laws are abided by.
to the idiot behind desertwomannv funny how the truth hurts huh? YES I SAID IT HELPANIMALNV is behind banning calf roping in our rodeos, and now you're changing it to reflect child abuse you obviously are a freak and need to get a life or better yet go check your mail box for for your ss check hahahahaha cuz now the one that's lauging is me hahahahaha.
@horselover2488 You have no idea who I am. This bill is about stopping horse-tripping in a state I love, in a country I love. The bill is about stopping abuse, not a PCRA event. The analogy is appropriate.
It might surprise you to know that many PCRA supporters do NOT support horse-tripping and DO NOT condone hotshots IN THE FACE.
Houston has one of the largest rodeos in the country in a state that horse-tripping is illegal. The event has had no ill effect from the horse-tripping ban.
@horselover2488 So if you can't defend that you lied that horse-tripping does not occur in Nevada, you will try to claim that those that took this video are against rodeo?
That's like a child abuser telling parents that they wont be able to discipline children if child abuse laws are passed. Get a new line.
@Desertwomannv I'm glad my comment amused you but your lies do not amuse anyone!!!!!! SCORE UPDATE charros 5 LIARS 0 @ran7leg sweetie I do appreciate the beauty of this sport that is why I too was there filming the entire event and I did not see any of the lies these people are trying to convince everyone of.HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO ALL
The coments and dramatization in this video is beyond false and the facts will once again aggravate legislators. A Veterinarian was present. Reports were taken. No laws were broke and one accidental incident out of over 60 ropings only shows that the incident was completely accidental. Get the facts straight. This video will actually help show the dishonesty of the makers of the video.
It was obvious that the participants were aware they were being watched. Conduct changed throughout the event depending on who was in the audience. The video is short to focus on a lie exposed and outrageous conduct. Hotshotting a horse in the face is NOT ok. If you think it is you have a problem and need a shrink, fast.
now now enough with the lies I personally only saw Bridget Mcgrath there and I truly believe that the video was completely fabricated and now you have contacted all of your buddies to come and lie some more now didn't yo mammas teach ya'll against lying now if you can't play fair well then don't play at all
I am a horse person and I enjoy good rodeo. Rodeo is an opportunity to strengthen community bond and demonstrate skill. What happened in Winnemucca IS NOT rodeo. I will NEVER forget what I saw.
I saw those two horses hit with the cattle prod IN THE FACE!
These animal activist people are a joke surely they do not work for free they get grants or donations from tax payers like us let's put a stop to them. Today it's attacking horse people tomorrow they'll want to outlaw us having cats in our homes.
@horselover2488 HelpAnimalsNV has received no grants and no donations. We are horse people. We certainly wouldn't attack ourselves. That simply wouldn't be logical. And we would love for you to have cats in your home! We would gladly provide links and adoption information to hundreds of thousands of shelter cats and dogs that need adoption NOW.
@dpkf8f you must be one of the many idiots that make up this dysfunctional organization.PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY THE HORSE SLIPS!you are not payimg attention to the factual picture horse knowing or not horse knowing the truth is these animals appear perfectly well
@horselover2488 Did you look closely at the hotshotting? Is hotshotting OK? Do you hotshot your horses? If so, be advised it's illegal in the State of Nevada. The amount to which people are taking personal offense would only be logical if they were the ones using the cattle prods.
I had the unpleasant experience in visiting your website nvanimalswhatever and you people are a bunch of idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for everyone out there wasting your time in posting a comment it's not even worth it these retards are nothing more than scum buckets!!!
One last hopeful suggestion, if you change your interest of activity I might be able to talk my husband into sponsoring you, I hear you are lacking in the FUNDS department. Oh and don't forget to take your ace inhibitor for your htn (hypertension= high blood pressure) I wouldn't want you to have an MI (myocardial infarction=heart attack. Have a splendid life:)
@ran7leg If you hotshot and support hotshotting, then we have opposing points of view. If you think all rodeos are incomplete without a tripping event, then we have opposing points of view. But if you think rodeos can be a venue to display amazing roping skills, spectacular horsemanship, and can showcase beautiful breeds and their training, then we are on the same side.
As a matter of fact I did attend this event, I was one of the many beautiful women on horseback. Something you obviously chose not to acknowledge for inexplicable reasons, for you my friend were only interested in advertising distortions of the truth. As for being a good horseman I am proud to announce that I am indeed one of the best, my skills fill above and beyond all expectations. BTW I love your google'd answer!
@ran7leg Your not a horse person. A real horse person wouldnt think this is correct. THIS IS CRUELTY TO ANIMALS and u should be disgusted with yourself. You are not a real human being if u think this is acceptable treatment of animals. I bet u dont do this to your own horses
@ran7leg Do you hotshot horses? What about hotshotting horses in the face? You are proud of your sport, and anyone would understand that. This isn't personal against you. This isn't personal against your sport. The purpose of this video was to show that horse tripping does happen in the State of Nevada (it was adamantly claimed it doesn't), and tripping CAN and often DOES bring down a horse (also claimed to NEVER happen). We wanted to film that and were HORRIFIED to see the hotshotting.
@HelpAnimalsNV ...Why don't you show all 66 manganas that were thrown. I told you time and time again the horse slipped it WAS NEVER TRIPPED. You are the same people that do not want to see the truth even if its shoved in your face. Obama proved he was born in Hawaii, Osama is dead and the horse was no tripped. the only tripping that you did was to Senator Copening in not coming out clean with and your sudden added amendments to the bill without her knowledge. You guys made her look like a fool.
Funny how you only posted the parts where the animal falls but you weren't behind the the arena taking video of how well the animals were being attended, you say that water was not provided to animals the entire day. These animals appear to be abslutley healthy and striving with no signs of dehydration or malpractice of any kind. Any horse literate person knows you do not water a heated horse for prevention of colic or further physical health issues duh.
@ran7leg We filmed EVERYTHING. I have to assume you weren't even there, or you wouldn't make these ridiculous claims. Are you alleging that hotshotting two horses in the face is great treatment? We have it on film. Are you alleging that use of a cattle prod on a horse at all is great treatment? Also on film. It should be noted that use of cattle prods on a domestic horse is a felony in Nevada, and for good reason. Were you one of the guys with the prod?
Once again I am going to clarify, the horse was not tripped it slipped. No one intentionally tripped the animal. It was merely a rare accident. Do you know what an accident is, an accident is what happens when you forget to tell the Senator sponsoring your bill that you accidentally changed the wording without telling Her and make her look like a foll in a live broadcast. ONCE AGAIN THE HORSE WAS NOT TRIPPED, IT ACCIDENTALLY SLIPPED. You guys will say anything for money.
@mundocharro HelpAnimalsNV works for free. It's completely understandable that accidents can happen, and we get that. That's why every state adopted laws making seatbelts mandatory. We have ZERO desire to ban rodeos. The only ban we are seeking is on horse tripping, due to its "accident prone" nature. It's a seatbelt for horses. There's already a "seatbelt" in the form of hotshotting. It's illegal to hotshot a domestic horse in Nevada. Surely you don't support hotshotting?
@mundocharro@mundocharro The horse "slipped" because it had ropes on it's legs. Horses legs were bleeding because there were ropes thrown at their legs. The same horses were used for two days. The second day these horses had visible wounds at the start. That poor horse that was used in the bucking event, (you remember the one where you threw your hats and cheered?) was exhausted from being repetively used and it's poor hips didn't even line up. Great skill demonstrated there...
@ran7leg In summation, all good horsemen know that you don't run a horse event after event. All good horsemen know that your horse is exhibiting signs of dehydration when you see thick, lathered sweat (also on film). All good horsemen know that you prevent dehydration, while staving off gastrointestinal distress, by allowing water in small doses to rehydrate and regulate temperature. Are you a good horseman?
@ran7leg You are ovioulsy not a horse person. This is CRUELTY to animals. You should be ashamed of yourself. If you are a "HORSE LITERATE PERSON" u would know this is cruelty and abuse. You should be punished. Feeding and water has nothing to do with the treatment in the arena. Horses are not meant to be flipped and tripped. They are meant to be loved and WELL CARED FOR not abused. Your a sick human being to even watch this and attending events like this. SHAME ON YOU
It's true that some of the events showed magnificent horsemanship. The kids trick roping was awesome and a real credit to the Charro tradition. However, the tripping and electric prodding was unnecessary, showed no athleticism and was cruel. This fact was obvious since the prods were abandoned day 2 in favor of rope whipping instead. BTW, what was the name of this "certified" veterinarian on site? Or by "location", do you mean the vet was in the general area of Winnemucca?
@Ranchohaven, I posted this video. I live in Nevada. I own horses and grew up on horseback. No matter how you slice it, this type of treatment of horses is not OK. Every cowboy I know and grew up with HATE the idea of horse tripping and would slug anybody who hotshot a horse in the face. Where was this supposed vet? I didn't see him! Was he standing by while those horses got tied back up to the fence without water?
when the animal fell it soon was able to get back on it's feet. There was a certified vetenarian at this location in case of an injury. But, it is obvious that woman who posted this video chose not to acknowledge this fact. Also, the animals used in this event show absolute beauty and how well maintained these animals are. I will definately contact the supposed people you have named to inform them of the truth. Thank you . Sincerely, a true Nevadan
And this was a SANCTIONED event. God only knows what happens to these pitiful horses at the non-sanctioned events throughout the state. CONTACT YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS AND DEMAND THAT THIS CRUELTY BE OUTLAWED IMMEDIATELY! Only last month, a bill to ban horse tripping, SB 364, by Senator Allison Copening, was tabled in the Senate Natural Resources Committee chaired by Senator Mark Manendo (other members: Senators Dean Rhoads, David Parks, Mike Roberson, John Lee). Call them!
Come on now Eric, don't be so melodramatic. Did you forget to mention that the 11 teams did 66 manganas all without incident. Why don't you also mention that this horse was not tripped but slipped. Di you ever see the charro pulling the rope-NO. He actually went to aid the horse. Also the horse was not limping as mentioned in the video. Is that another lie that was told like you did in the Nevada hearing room? Are you running out of money Eric? no one believes anymore..tsk tsk.
Don't even lose your time with Eric Mills, he tried to have manganas banned in Colorado-he failed, he tried to ban manganas in Oregon-he failed, he tried to ban manganas in Nevada-he failed. He also tried to ban colas in California-he failed. The reason he fails is because he lies. Even in this video you hear the announcer apologizing for the incident. The horse was never tripped, it simply slipped. Don't believe the lies that Eric tells you, he simply is running out of money.
Oh, so you ARE pro-rodeo. Sorry. This isn't as bad as calf-roping, or single-steer roping. That horse wasn't lame when it got up. The PRCA isn't exactly squeaky clean in the abuse department. Just watch the NFR, lots of abusive behaviour there.

i know using the hotshot on them is bad and cruel but the guys using the hotshots did not push the button at all they just poke them with it to make them move. if your going to post shit or say anything about this why dont you just get your fucking facts right and get up close and learn our tradition! so you stupid people wont be talking shit. if your going to band this then band streer wrestling and team rope and branding cause dont you think it hurts the steers as well?
miguelcharro13 2 months ago
ok look for the last time this is a fucking accident!! the horse trip by itself! the charro was running to help to take off the rope. he did not intend to pull the rope. the horse was not limping at all!! the reason why it continues the event beacause it is not hurt inanyway. i know i was there when that happened im the one in the yellow shirt on 2:39. if you accutally read your facts horses can go days without water. after the whole event of the charreria was over we feed and gave water to them

And to the womam whp recorded this you lied and said you were taking pictures to put on the newspaper I was there and all horses had water and feed. So go ahead and try to take away horse tripping you dont have the money for it or enough proof liars you've failed many times before what makes you think this time will be different?!
HerraduraDeElko 9 months ago
@HerraduraDeElko I don't know who is calling you a "sick mexican." I think your culture could be presented beautifully. I think this event detracts from the beauty and needs to be left behind. I had hoped to go to an event and see some beautiful horsemanship and eat good food.
Instead I was horrified.
I kept hoping to see a change, something to redeem it. A vet or official stop it. There was no redemption.
This legislation has passed in many states, it needs to pass in Nevada.

Irrelevant minutiae. At the Senate Natural Resources Committee meeting on April 25, 2011, testimony entered alleged "these events don't happen in Nevada" and "the horse never goes down". The purpose of this video was to prove that testimony was false. End of story.
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
@HelpAnimalsNV What is irrelevant about killing calves with ropes. I am sure the calves would disagree with you. Also, horses fall in steeplechase, cross county, jumping and rodeo. Maybe they should be illegal in Nev. Since you are so concerned with hot shots, there is a nice video of PRCA officials electrifying horses this year at the National Finales on you tube. Maybe you should try to get them indicted under your theory.
RMJ8757 9 months ago
@RMJ8757 The argument is irrelevant with respect to the purpose of this video and SB 364 - the legislation now in session. Again, the purpose of this video is to show that testimony given at the Senate Natural Resources Committee was false. No amount of filibuster will change nor distract from that fact.
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
@HelpAnimalsNV Three things are undeniably true. The horse in this video slipped. Horses are shocked in rodeo. Calf roping rips and tares the skin and even breaks the calf's neck. If you want to live up to your name, you would demand a stop to calf roping. You will not. As I said before. Animal rights freaks are motivated by greed, self importance and craziness.
RMJ8757 9 months ago
@RMJ8757 It appears that the attempt currently is to muddy the issue. The Legislation addresses horse-tripping. It is a definition used in Legislation in many states.
Houston has one of the largest grossing rodeos in the country. Texas has a ban on horse-tripping. Traditional rodeo was not affected by that ban.
Your strategy here in Nevada was to imply that passing this bill would hurt traditional rodeo. It wont.
DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
@DesertWomanNV I though you wanted to help animals. If yuou do, then outlaw calf roping. That is what I am saying. Be fair. Maybe you don't like those cute little calves. Maybe you like seeing their necks broken. What I am saying is don't be a hypocrite. Have some character. I think if Charreria should die, they so should rodeo. I don't like rodeo. It is crude and without style. That is the reason I want to sue Nebrasca.
RMJ8757 9 months ago
@RMJ8757 You are very entertaining. Why don't you go sue "Nebrasca." This discussion is about the information given to the State Legislature of NEVADA that was untrue. That means that the decision is invalid and a Bill can be discussed again before this session ends.
Folks like you tried to gain support for your HORSE TRIPPING by claiming the Bill will hurt Nevada Rodeo. It wont.
Claim: HORSE TRIPPING DID NOT happen in NEVADA. Horses NEVER go down.
This Bill needs to pass.
DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
@DesertWomanNV t would take too much to explain the financial consequences to Nevada of a lawsuit against Nebraska. Still, the horse slipped, rodeo people hot shot horses, and rodeo is too hard on animals. If your concern is really animals and not something else, you would be demanding an end of multiple rodeo events. Your concern is not the welfare of animals. I don't like rodeo. It is crude, without any style and it is too hard on the animals.
RMJ8757 9 months ago
@RMJ8757 Your site promotes these events. You have video that shows to the state that the statements made to the Legislature were false. You are proud of it.
No one here is attacking rodeo in general. That is of your making. You are hoping that claim will stop this from passing in Nevada. If you can create false fear you will keep your event.
No one buys it anymore.

HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
WHy do we continue to allow such barbaric treatment of animals continue. We humans are a bloodthirsty bunch who crave accidents in NASCAR, allow grown men to beat each other to a pulp in a ring which thousands cheer when blood is split and defenseless animals are totured everyday. For shame on those who participate in any fashion, those who buy the tickets to attend these events are as guilty of abuse as the ones actually tripping and using the cattle prods.
Moondance727 9 months ago
Please stop this. You denied the hotshots in the face.
It happened.
The cuts on the legs are from the ropes. The burns are from the prod. The wounds on the faces are from a variety of reasons including the prod.
You want to keep saying this treatment is ok? This IS NOT RODEO. It was abuse.
DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
@DesertWomanNV First you complain about a horse that was not tripped, Now you bitch about hot shots. What you are saying is nonsense. Hot shots may make you jump, but they do not cause burns. A hot shot is powered by four D batteries. Furthermore a rope does not cut. It is not sharp enough. You and the rest of these crazies, obviously don't know anything about livestock. You just make stuff up as you go along. That is typical for animal rights fanatics.
RMJ8757 9 months ago
@RMJ8757 Why do you keep responding like you do? Ropes cut. Anyone that has ever learned to use a rope knows a rope can cut.
Even Toby posted here that the hotshot to the face in unacceptable. Are you claiming Toby doesn't know what he's talking about?
The horse went down because it was run and ropes were thrown at it's legs. The ropes are very visible. If the event and ropes were not involved, the horse would not have gone down.
DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
@DesertWomanNV There is a difference between intentionally tripping, which is what this video claimed and what is now conceded by you. Also, ropes do not cut. They can burn, but that takes a lot of friction. Also, I disagree with De La Torrie on most things. Hot shots are responsible tools, used to handle large dangerous animals. The PRCA, uses them all the time. They just have little hand held ones, that they hide. The fact is, none of the horses was seriously injured, in this Charreada.
RMJ8757 9 months ago
@RMJ8757 The claim made to the Legislature was that "horse tripping" does NOT occur in Nevada and horses don't go down. This video shows the statements made were FALSE and the bill needs reconsideration.
That was the purpose of this video.
The other behaviors were outrageous and showed a disregard and disrespect to rodeo itself. Even down to smoking in the non-smoking event center. The hotshot to the face was disgusting.
Ropes can cut. You obviosly are not a roper.
DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
No where in NRS 574, does it mention use of cattle prods or hot shots, on horses. Nor is there an appellate court decision saying the use of hot shots or cattle prods on horses constitutes a prohibited action. So what you see here is not a felony. You people are crazy. You can see that, by the claim the horse was tripped, when it clearly was not, and by the fact that you are obsessed by a 6'’ scratch and a small mark on its face. Horses get small injuries like that when transporting them.

horselover2488 9 months ago
@horselover2488 The video shows a horse being roped and falling in a manner that could have cause fatal injury.
Play a semantics game if you like. The event, in English, is referenced as horse tripping. The event, no matter what you call it, is exactly the same.
The lie about no horse being hotshot in the face has also been exposed.
Check out the video clip just loaded by HelpingAnimalsNV.
I hope a real investigation occurs. There are hundreds of photos and hours of video.
DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
I did not see prodding in the face. I assure you that the Charro organizations do not approve of misuse of the elctric prod. You will all be happy to learn that the horse that fell is fine. It was filmed yesterday and further investigations will continue to ensure the reasonable use of livestock during Charro competition.
TOBYD7 9 months ago
@TOBYD7 Two horses were hit in the face in plain view at least twice. It's on video. The horses were already bleeding and injured but were used the second day. Investigation? It's called "whitewash."
You already had a supporter state here that rural Nevada is a close knit family. There was expectation that nothing would happen. It's Nevada afterall.
Nice to know that my home is being looked at by the rest of the country as "animal abuser" heaven.
DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
@DesertWomanNV Okay, I have seen the new video and I do see the prod in the face. The person will be dealt with. The investigation will continue. I was not aware of this whole situation until the Monday after the incidents so please ease up on the whitewash comments and negativity. I am not responsible for unknown supporters comments. We will do what we can to ensure the safety of all animals used in competition. What expectation? What rest of the Country? Please don't condemn your state.

DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
More than 60 horses were roped. The fall of the horse was accidental. never the less we will determine what steps to take to avoid accidents. The initial investigation has confirmed: 1. A veterinarian was on site. The horses in question were diagnosed and a report was submitted as required.2. Adequate supplies of fresh water and feed was provided for livestock at all times as required.3. The use of electric prods is of great concern to us and we will thouroughly investigate the claims.
TOBYD7 9 months ago
The official Charro organizations are conducting a thorough investigation regarding the Winnemucca Charro competition and event. We are very concerned about the welfare and treatment of all animals used in Charro competition. Strict rules and sanctions are in place, prohibiting the intentional felling of a horse during competition. They have been in place since the passing of the bill in 1995. Although the horse did trip and fall, it did not sustain injuries. The fall of the horse was accidental
TOBYD7 9 months ago
@TOBYD7 Good, the perpetrator can police themselves. We should all be reassured. NOT.
DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
Omg here we go again. Do not mistake horse tripping for horse roping. The Charros volunteered to take this portion out of the sport and substituted it with horse roping. In your so called evidence/video you clearly see a horse being roped, and released you see no tripping!!! I think your trippin. And by accident the horse slips. Please get this through you thick head
horselover2488 9 months ago

What happened in Winnemucca IS NOT rodeo. It was animal abuse.
I'd like to see you "Charros" get on real bucking stock instead of a terrified, not even 14 hand, two year old. A two year old that already had bleeding legs from being repeatedly run with ropes thrown at her legs.

horselover - There is no great conspiracy.
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
Desertwomannv I know exactly who you are, that's the scary part. you will stop at nothing to try to get people to believe your false accusations where in plain view you see the horse slip and yes you are behind banning calf roping in our rodeos. This particular video IS POOR EVIDENCE but suit yourself in trying to convince people what appears to be a simple slip.no harm done to the animal but you will never see this because you got to pay your bills somehow so you will continue with your lies.
horselover2488 9 months ago
@horselover2488 No honey, you don't know who I am. You think I am anti-rodeo. I am not. I am a rodeo supporter.
I am a horseperson. When I saw those hotshots to the face my blood went cold. When I saw how you treated these very young domestic horses, that you used repeatedly, my stomach turned. I saw you run horses that were terrified and continually throw ropes at legs that were already bleeding, at a two year old.
I saw no skill.

@RMJ8757 NRS 574.100(a) makes use of an electric cattle prod a Class D felony in the State of Nevada
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
@HelpAnimalsNV There is no mention of cattle prods in NRS 574.100 (a). Perhaps it is a different statute
RMJ8757 9 months ago
@RMJ8757 It falls under the definition of maiming. Few statutes list every possible maiming device which one could use. An umbrella term like "maim" includes many types of violent acts, to include use of an electric cattle prod on a domestic animal, and is prosecuted as such.

@dpkf8f you must be one of the many idiots that make up this dysfunctional organization.PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY THE HORSE SLIPS!you are not payimg attention to the factual picture horse knowing or not horse knowing the truth is these animals appear perfectly well
horselover2488 9 months ago
@horselover2488 Did you look closely at the hotshotting? Is hotshotting OK? Do you hotshot your horses? If so, be advised it's illegal in the State of Nevada. The amount to which people are taking personal offense would only be logical if they were the ones using the cattle prods.
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
This is sick and disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves. This is CRUELTY. This should be illegel

Have a splendid life:)
ran7leg 9 months ago
@ran7leg If you hotshot and support hotshotting, then we have opposing points of view. If you think all rodeos are incomplete without a tripping event, then we have opposing points of view. But if you think rodeos can be a venue to display amazing roping skills, spectacular horsemanship, and can showcase beautiful breeds and their training, then we are on the same side.
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
As a matter of fact I did attend this event, I was one of the many beautiful women on horseback. Something you obviously chose not to acknowledge for inexplicable reasons, for you my friend were only interested in advertising distortions of the truth. As for being a good horseman I am proud to announce that I am indeed one of the best, my skills fill above and beyond all expectations. BTW I love your google'd answer!
ran7leg 9 months ago
@ran7leg Your not a horse person. A real horse person wouldnt think this is correct. THIS IS CRUELTY TO ANIMALS and u should be disgusted with yourself. You are not a real human being if u think this is acceptable treatment of animals. I bet u dont do this to your own horses
dpkf8f 9 months ago
@ran7leg Do you hotshot horses? What about hotshotting horses in the face? You are proud of your sport, and anyone would understand that. This isn't personal against you. This isn't personal against your sport. The purpose of this video was to show that horse tripping does happen in the State of Nevada (it was adamantly claimed it doesn't), and tripping CAN and often DOES bring down a horse (also claimed to NEVER happen). We wanted to film that and were HORRIFIED to see the hotshotting.
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago

Any horse literate person knows you do not water a heated horse for prevention of colic or further physical health issues duh.
ran7leg 9 months ago
@ran7leg We filmed EVERYTHING. I have to assume you weren't even there, or you wouldn't make these ridiculous claims. Are you alleging that hotshotting two horses in the face is great treatment? We have it on film. Are you alleging that use of a cattle prod on a horse at all is great treatment? Also on film. It should be noted that use of cattle prods on a domestic horse is a felony in Nevada, and for good reason. Were you one of the guys with the prod?
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
Once again I am going to clarify, the horse was not tripped it slipped. No one intentionally tripped the animal. It was merely a rare accident. Do you know what an accident is, an accident is what happens when you forget to tell the Senator sponsoring your bill that you accidentally changed the wording without telling Her and make her look like a foll in a live broadcast. ONCE AGAIN THE HORSE WAS NOT TRIPPED, IT ACCIDENTALLY SLIPPED. You guys will say anything for money.
mundocharro 9 months ago
@mundocharro Explain the rope and loop at :27. You can clearly see it again at 3:13 in case you missed it.
SHARKonlineorg 9 months ago
@mundocharro HelpAnimalsNV works for free. It's completely understandable that accidents can happen, and we get that. That's why every state adopted laws making seatbelts mandatory. We have ZERO desire to ban rodeos. The only ban we are seeking is on horse tripping, due to its "accident prone" nature. It's a seatbelt for horses. There's already a "seatbelt" in the form of hotshotting. It's illegal to hotshot a domestic horse in Nevada. Surely you don't support hotshotting?
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
@mundocharro @mundocharro The horse "slipped" because it had ropes on it's legs.
DesertWomanNV 9 months ago
@ran7leg In summation, all good horsemen know that you don't run a horse event after event. All good horsemen know that your horse is exhibiting signs of dehydration when you see thick, lathered sweat (also on film). All good horsemen know that you prevent dehydration, while staving off gastrointestinal distress, by allowing water in small doses to rehydrate and regulate temperature. Are you a good horseman?
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
@ran7leg You are ovioulsy not a horse person. This is CRUELTY to animals. You should be ashamed of yourself. If you are a "HORSE LITERATE PERSON" u would know this is cruelty and abuse. You should be punished. Feeding and water has nothing to do with the treatment in the arena. Horses are not meant to be flipped and tripped. They are meant to be loved and WELL CARED FOR not abused. Your a sick human being to even watch this and attending events like this. SHAME ON YOU

@ran7leg Don't make any assumption about what was taped and what was not. There were several people taping this event. There is much more.

aww i had tears in my eyes why would any cowboy or a ordinary person ever do that :( its just sad and cruel!
fighterdingos123 9 months ago
It's true that some of the events showed magnificent horsemanship. The kids trick roping was awesome and a real credit to the Charro tradition. However, the tripping and electric prodding was unnecessary, showed no athleticism and was cruel. This fact was obvious since the prods were abandoned day 2 in favor of rope whipping instead. BTW, what was the name of this "certified" veterinarian on site? Or by "location", do you mean the vet was in the general area of Winnemucca?
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
@Ranchohaven, I posted this video. I live in Nevada. I own horses and grew up on horseback. No matter how you slice it, this type of treatment of horses is not OK. Every cowboy I know and grew up with HATE the idea of horse tripping and would slug anybody who hotshot a horse in the face. Where was this supposed vet? I didn't see him! Was he standing by while those horses got tied back up to the fence without water?
HelpAnimalsNV 9 months ago
when the animal fell it soon was able to get back on it's feet.

Pitiful and completely unnecessary!

Call them!

@ericmills100
Are you running out of money Eric? no one believes anymore..tsk tsk.
mundocharro 9 months ago
@mundocharro
