@rooo1o The processor is the single most important thing, because it does practically all of the work. and you've got the cream of the crop. I can emulate basically everything except Shadow of the Colossus at fullspeed on my 2.4GHz i5 (laptop with integrated graphics) so you'll be just fine mate.

Raw power doesn't mean scrap if the software you intend to run isn't coded for it. It CAN play this with 120+ frames per second but that doesn't mean that the emulator itself is written to get that from this processor.

Its about information entropy.System reads an input gives an output by a set of specialised functions.The PS2 is like a lawyer readin a law when readin a PS2 iso, the PC is like most of us readin laws.You would be slow to read and undestand so your 'clock speed' must be much higer for same performance.

Very impressive, there's so many people that look down on emulators expecting to play emulators of the very latest consoles when their PC is only of a similar specification, they don't understand the massive amount of resources required to emulate completely different hardware and the great achievement involved just to play PS2 games on a quite high spec PC today. I'll expect a reasonable PS3 emulator in about 5 years time when we all have 16+ core PCs and probably 64GB+ of memory.

They have some 1GB Gfx card systems with i7 processor. From what the PCSX2 dev team says, the faster CPU matters more than the faster GFX. What do you think??

@hitsu98 Set Left Stick to WASD, Dpad on mouse buttons and scroll wheel, Right Stick to mouse (mirror the directions, FFXII camera controls are opposite what you expect them to be), Cross to E, Square to Q, Triangle to Space, and Circle to F. The rest just put close to your left hand.

Or you can buy a PS2 controller and adapter off ebay. They sell for really cheap nowadays, and you can use them for almost every game.

@kickthecommie I use a Logitech dual action for emulators, it's like a PS2 controller but it's USB and works with most PC games too (like some platformers and such, and Devil May Cry 4)...I'm pretty sure an Xbox 360 controller would also work with this emulator since when I had one it worked with almost all of them...

It keeps asking for an ELF file, but I try to use a .ISO file instead then it tells me I'm out of memory. I mount the image instead using PowerISO (on K:) and then use the cd/dvd option, it tells me I'm out of memory again. Is there some sort of "memory" option available?

@jfachris Yea they can get decently detailed, but the problem is that most systems cant handle it with great graphics to start with, let alone upgrade their aa. The emu works differently on just about every system, especially ones with anything but an intel core 2 duo.

Bottom line is that its hard to find a system to run a lot of games perfectly. For example, I have a pretty good pc that can run most modern games at 30+ fps on high, but I have issues emulating a lot of games.

did you try going to configure -> cpu and changing the frame limiting option to 'limit'? I'm having trouble getting ff x to run fast enough and i have 4 gb ddr3 and a quad processor! It seems like ff xii would run slower... any suggestions? it runs at about 60% frame rate most of the time, at least during gameplay. during cutscenes it goes between 200% and 20%, and it seems that this (not the gameplay) is the only thing affected by taking limiting off...

You can run it at full speed for lots of the areas of the game, but for some areas like this boss fight here, or maybe the nabreus deadlands (lots of mist/fog), you will not get full speed (maybe youll get 50-60%). Based on my experience through the game. I find that changing camera angles in the game can significantly increase speed. The only problem i found when running this game is that the menu is really slow. Other than that, everything is fair.

Listen for all those people who are wondering why its not working its because your pc's specs are not good.

I run PCSX2 100% on all my games and i have 2GHz Dual-Core processor, and i upgraded my Intel Chipset to an NVIDIA Geoforce. To anyone who has Intel chipset's or on-board graphics cards i can guarantee you won't run pcsx2 smoothly even if your processor is 3GHz.

They have crap 3D and renderring qualities, which slows down emulation dramatically.

Try EPSXE instead if your specs are bad.

Just a tip for you guys: the configuration for your emulator is way more important than your computer specs, most modern computers today should be able to play this at about that speed as long as they aren't using on-board video. As long as you have a good configuration set up in your PCSX2 settings.

its an overclocked cpu,its quite easy to overclock a cpu to 4ghz now,

even if you had a quad core cpu it still wouldn't matter much,pcsx2 doesn't use 4 cores

mine is 2,66ghz on stock and i use it everyday at 3,4ghz,when i had watter cooling i could push it to 4ghz easy everyday,till my fucking little cousin had to play around with the insides of my pc,and allmost trashed it,now i have the stock cooler it came with=_=

with the 8000 series you can push it to 4ghz on air cooling,mine can too prob,but that e8400 is better for overclocking than my e6750 , to play this game right tough i would say you only need like 3,2,but there are some areas in the game where it would slow down

hey man, try using the P.E.oP.S. SPU 1.9.0 sound plugin and configure it to use the SPU reverb its seems to help for me. Theres alot of things you have to consider for everything to run smoothly Graphics card the speed of your hard drive <-( IF YOUR USING AN ISO FILE.) processor and not to forget plugins. Also check for latest drivers for all your components it can make a difference.

@Sh3llSock The speed hacks section is the best place to try and boost your fps for the game. Some may mess up the game like freeze but you just have to test out the settings to see which works out.

Hate to burst everyone's bubbles but if you do not atleast have a dual core cpu ps2 games will not run too well on your computer.

50fps is normal for PAL games (Europe) and 60fps is normal for NTSC games (US).

But 40 fps is good too ^^
