Gold cant break out to the upside. If you see gold fears being pushed on npr, air america, rush, and alex jones, and its still at 1000ish for a year, somethings wrong. The people behind the bubble r selling into strrenght liquidating their position. iit now dpends on who stops first the long sellers or the new buyers. usually the long sellers get flat then short, and when demand dries up, booom ! OIl also cannot break to its old highs. Commodities always eventually sell off in depressions.

In what way do you mean worthless? Has metal no utility value, you mean? Copper is worthless? If not, gold can replace copper for most applicatons (cables, roofs et.c) but it is just to exepensíve to use. That doesnt say gold has no or little industrial application. That only say that gold has more value as money then as an industrial metal. If gold wasnt scarce, and if it was not considered money, it would be used in a lot of industrial applications. And silver have even more unique uses.

What are you talking about? "Fiat" means "let it be done", i.e a formal declaration from a government. There is no such declaration about gold/silver, there for, per definition, they are not fiat. Gold/silver is money because people trust them to have value, not because the government declare them to have value (as with fiat). Also, they are really usable metals in the industry, even though that has nothing to do with them having value as money.

I am not sure about Mr. Chapman since I have not read much of his stuff. But, I do know that we (US) has been buying our own bond for at least 5 months now. That is not a good sign of finanical stability. I think that gold, silver and oil will rise in dollars, since we do have a huge defict and we are looking at a possible (unwanted) 3rd bailout by Congress. This you can not deny is happening. Gold and Silver will rise quickly while the dollar falls in next 18 months.

If every one is so sure about the drop of the dollar..than just open a forx account and short the Dollar/Ruro Dollar/yen Dollar/Swiss franc with a 50 to 1 margin and make a million dollars on a 10,000 investment within 3 months..why by gold and silver annd maybe only make 3 times your money? Just short the currency...I still think its all looks too easy to be true...US will be raising interest rates soon to double digits like in 1980-84....Will screw up economy more..but will strengthen dollar
