  • 13 collections chest in the Temple. To my anti-Paul brothers could this be the twelve apostles + Paul. I don't know I just think that it is interesting. you got to hear the 6 part message on part 5 wisdomtorahcom

  • Messianics have the same divisions, Messianic Jews have the One house teachers i.e. MJAA, UMJC and so on...The TWO house independents. The Sacred Namers, Nazarene Israel, Neztarim, Essenses, and so on. So this division is not new to either Orthodox Jew, Messianic Jew, or Christians.

  • Y'shua breaks Shabbat by healing then telling the man to pick up his mat. John 5:8-13.

The House of Shammai ruled that if a man was healed on Shabbat he could not pick up his mat. The House of Hillel had an oposing ruling that said if a man was healed on the Shabbat it was lawful to pick up his mat and carry it.

  • @paulgem123 Interesting. I just started using the Name of YAHUWAH last year and began observing the Ten Commandments plus the love commandments of YAHUWAH and YAHUW Savior. What sect does that put me in? I'm not of Hebrew lineage that I know of. I know some people call it "AHlenic" - followers of YAH from the other-nations. All of this "ruling one way or that way" means beans to me. The fourth commandment does not tell anyone how to make the Sabbath set-apart. It just says to do it.

  • Y'shua broke the Shabbat? Really? Deut 23:25 When though comest into the standing corn of thy neighbor , then thou mayest pluck the ears with thy hand; but though shalt not move a sickle unto thy neighbors standing corn. Read (Luke 6:1-2) they didn't break this commandments so what did they break? Mishnah tractate Shabbat 12.2 A ruling of Shammai!

  • Acts 15:5 But there rose up a certain of the sect of the Pharisees WHICH BELIEVED saying, That it was NEEDFUL TO CIRCUMCISE them, AND to keep the law of Moses.......Pharisees who believe on Y'shua (right thing to do) >>>> Needful to circumcise (Shammai ruling) (wrong thing to do) AND KEEP THE LAW OF MOSES. (right thing to do) WOW!

  • @paulgem123 Not that circumcision is wrong but the order that they commanded is. Abraham was circumcised much later. The only things that were required is found in Acts 15:21 to start the walk but in order to partake in Passover it was required to be circumcised. Gen 17:13-14, Gen 12:43-44 & 48-49

  • Paul is clear that he is a Pharisee. Philippians 3:1-5, Acts 23-5-6, of the house of Hillel.

  • @paulgem123

So you mean that modren religious Jews are in fact under the house of Shammai b/cos of the evolution of Pharisee sect?

  • @melbourneopera In the time of Y'shua the house of Shammai was the dominant Jewish thought and their rulings would have been the ones he rebuked/corrected. He was only against rulings that went against written Torah. There were many Pharisees that believed on Y'shua in Acts 21:20 but were conflicted and tried to make the new converts follow the rulings of the house of Shammai along with following in Y'shua.

  • Paul is dealing with ruling of the Sanhedrin counsel and rulings from the Nazarene counsel made up of believers in Y'shua. Paul was the only one qualified to do this because of his education within the house of Hillel.

  • The House of Shammai establishes the eighteen edicts/articles to separate even further the Jews from the Ger's (people who want to be proselytes) and when Y'shua teaches against this religious system he is actually teaching against and correcting the House of Shammai and the eighteen articles that they established. Hillel had already died by this time.

  • I put links to some additional history and the book "Jesus the Pharisee" or go to wisdomintorahcom to watch the full 6 part series. It is a huge history lesson.

  • What was the cause of the 2nd Temple being destroyed? The rabbis said in the book "Jesus the Pharisee" it was hatred without a cause. The House of Shammai was very divisive against the ger that wanted to come in and worship. where the house of Hillel was much more inviting. This is not anything different that what the Catholic church did and everyone who did not believe like they did. Those who were against their Catholic doctrine void of "anything Jewish" were killed or converted.

  • It was equally confusing in that day. Many of the Pharisses believed in Y'shua in that day but different sects wanted them to keep strict adherence to the Oral law too. This is no different than the Roman Catholic church saying if you do not do as we say you are a heretic. This religious bullying has not stopped. If you are a Christian try going to your pastor and saying "I'm going to keep the law of Moses" or If you are a Jew tell your rabbi " I believe in Y'shua"

  • You may wonder how does this apply to the (NT)? We have to look at the dynamic of what is happening in the book of Acts. When we understand these influences we understand what they were going through and why. We need to understand the the Jewish religion in the First Century was splintered as is Christianity is. The same dynamic happen to people right now, many are following away, many think what they teach is Biblical but is void of Torah. The Orthodox Jews added the Christians take away.

  • Ezek 47:21-23 So you shall divide this land among you according to the tribes of Israel.

22You shall divide it by allotment as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners who reside among you and shall have children born among you. They shall be to you as those born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall inherit with you among the tribes of Israel. 23 In whatever tribe the foreigner resides, there shall you give him his inheritance, says the YHWH your Elohim.
