The only thing i didnt like about this game was that it was beneficial to just run from every battle and not level up til you had access to islands of heaven and hell, meaning with lionheart on disk one and refining the best magics, you'd end up one shotting most bosses throughout the game :p. One of the reason's i find 9 so addicting is the levelling up and customisation. If i could mix these together I'd have my perfect game

wow i miss this game!!!! i should say, this was the hardest place i've ever been to.

getting inside with only the attack abilty on, and some strong monsters and bosses, really killed me. i went to this castle with squall on level 80, rinoa on 60, and sephie on 58 (i think)

listening to music like this really bring back the good memories of FF8.. ^_^

the first two instruments used...i don't know.

from 0:27 it's a church organ i think, 0:54 comes in an oboe i think, then the harpsichord tunes in...

@Xlt92bassist The sound at the beginning is not flute friend ^^; though it sounds flutish, its actually the pipe organ playing out of its higher stops, probably flute stops.

Pipe organ is an amazing instrument, capable of emulating the sounds of many of the orchestral instruments... its kinda like an ancient synthesizer :3

i actually love this song.. nobuo uematsu is a true genius when it comes to gaming music.. he captures the essence of how the gamer wants to be feeling at this part of the game.. then adds the "this is gonna be hard" feeling to the song, also the "yeah.. this is blatently the last area of the game" feel.. truly genius 5/5

Final Fantasy VIII is the peak of final fantasy games in my opinion. Final Fantasy VIII is definitely number one on my list. I've beaten it 11 times so far and am starting a new game. Screw cloud and sephiroth, Squall and Seifer kicks both their asses.

No.. it is not Tocatta and Fugue.. it sounds like it because it has the same tempo and organs.. But it's not Tocatta.. This song is called "The Castle" and it is the 6st track on the 4th CD of the FFVIII OST by Nobuo Uematsu. :D

Remember the puzzles and the weird creatures you had to face in the castle? Oh man, those were the good old days. I too have forgotten the enchanting music of FF8, because I haven't played it in so long.
