  • I have that same exact edition of the Bell Jar. Such a great book

  • could you post a list of books for beginners, thank you.

  • Yeah, you were right. The Philosophy book took a while... I ended up skimming most of it.

How long did it take you to be able to do this? I end up finishing a few pages and not comprehending hardly anything.. or at first it works, then it becomes a blur!

It took a few weeks to get used to and yeah it works best the first few minutes, but then we revert to our old habits or since you're reading a philosophy books, you're compacting a lot of thinking into shorter time resulting in mental fatigue (or a combination of both)

  • @EpicAthiest

The rule is 1 line per second for novels.

It took me a few weeks to be able to read a novel.

I'm starting a new youtube channel just for speed reading. I'll upload some videos tomarrow.

  • @EpicAthiest any more guide not just about speed reading? like for me... Im having a book collecting habit but never had the chance to read it... my mind fly away and lost my concetration....

  • Hello~ nice techniqes... When I move the pen quickly and follow it when my eyes... i can't understand the contents... I can feel my eyes are picking up the words but my brain doesn't get the contents... weird. Currently I can understand the contents when I read it 250~300 rpm. How long should I practice to start understand the contents with high speed over 500~600 rmp?

  • @hkim226

What type of book are you reading? Novels/news papers/history and other light reading works best with speed reading. Speed reading science, philosophy, math, etc is impossible.

The Main thing that ought to go through your mind is a stream of pictures and scenes like a movie.

  • @EpicAthiest I'm practicing with easy novels... Still... when i try to read fast... comprehesion is extreamly low. I read an entire book in 1 hour yesterday with your method. It wasn't seeing movie at all... I will keep practice though... just wondering how long does take to start seeing moive?

  • prosto i dobro bez uvijanja

  • Thanks man! I am about to start a 200 page Philosophy book... hopefully this works :).

  • @kody8102010

    np.

I usually don't speed read philosophy/science books because of the heavy material.

The main rule to reading is to read as fast as you can think. Philosophy/science books require people to repeat sentences or even to stop a minute to think.

  • What happens when you want to read a different book?

Do you have to do all them steps again (step 1 was to read the FULL book)...!

  • Nice video:P ... but I'm actually searching on the net to see if speed reading is possible or if it's only a myth.. So If someone is able to answer my question it would be really appreciated :) (So what's the top words bye minute that an human can possibly read ?) thanks

  • I would get distracted looking at the pen. I get his point though and I will give it a try to see if it works.

  • start from 1:30

  • @MrRavisantlani same here nice video

  • 0:29 I laughed out loud

  • Do you recommend any specific books to train this with?

    And thanks alot ! :)

  • Good tutorial!

I also read somewhere, "Atheist Atheism Speed Reading Exercises techniques Tutorial or How to. ..."

It seems your tacit message on this video is flaunting your atheism.

  • frank ruu

  • thanks for posting this. I have a question, do i look at the tip of the pen, or do i look at the words just above the pen?

  • speed reading does not work

see my video for real reading.

  • WOW cool Sylvia Plath was my cousin.

  • So um you focus on the pen tip??? Or what?? Because when I focus it doesn't let me see what I'm going through because my focus is like a magnifying glass. Like I can't see the background info. How do I suppose to know what I'm reading if the info I'm trying to read my eyes are not able to pick up because of the magnifying looking at the tip of the pen. -_- Can you explain much clearer to me T_T

  • I wish this worked for biochemistry!

  • Man you gave me hope again!!! I was pretty convinced Speed Reading 's just a myth

  • Did you also use the book from Wade E. Cutler? Nice video btw.. explains it all =)

  • "you may not understand anything you see, but it's okay because you will". hahah :3

  • Nice info.

  • Your Hot :D

  • Realistically, some reading material is more complex than others. So does this only have an effect on fiction novel reading or is this technique of no benefit at all to those reading articles or other text?

  • @HealingVenom

    Fiction and Light Philosophy Mainly.

I usually vary my speed depending on what I'm reading.

  • thanks fo posting this, i have a question, do i look at the tip of the pen, or do i look at the words directly above the tip of the pen. This may sound like a silly question, but i always like to be clear thanks.

  • Should I fully focus on the pen tip, so the text becomes blurry or follow the pen tip and see the letters clear around the tip?

  • wow!!!!

  • nice

  • Nice techniques. I remember in Grade 8 my english teacher also taught me to speed read. The only part of this entire video I didn't quite understand was the flickering and twitching of the eyes but I guess additional speed reading practice should help. I should practice more on speed reading. I've been slowing myself down recently in reading. btw could you subscribe to my channel?

  • @supersmash43

I already subscribed like a few weeks ago I think.

  • Unfortunately I only have 21 subscribers.

  • Wow! Originally you said you were up to 900 words per minute. And you ended the video by saying you were up to 1000 words per minute--a 100 word increase just by making the video. LOL

I could see where the unconscious part of the mind may be able to absorb more faster than consciousness. But people who ENJOY curling up with a good book probably are not going to ENJOY books as much when reading with the technique shown here in this video.

I read with the computer to magnify for my bad sight.

  • @unseenstrings

hehe, i meant to say 900- 1000 because we don't really have a definite reading speed. I stated at around 150, but these speads are for reading fiction novels,

if I were to read philosophy, it would be much slower.
