from what i have heard it is destroid corals that falls down and then alot of pieces bind together and become a rock. and there is various organisms in them.

@kurtinge live rock are the rocks you build your reef on. it is actually broken coral, sand, shells etc. that has gotten compacted together over time and now it has necessary and beneficial organisms living on and in it.

how many pounds of live rock do you have in your tank cause im starting mine up and so far i only have 10lbs, gonna get maybe another 5lbs or 10lbs at the end of this week.building up the rocks first then i'll buy fish and other stuff on boxing day(thats the day after christmas i case you don't know) when everything is cheaper plus it will add more time for my tank to cycle.

No ofense but do you realy want advice from this guy,I mean look at his tank? I got a 12 gal reef which looks way more clean. After buying xpensive filters and doing research I have come to the fact that 2 good hang on filters with bacteria housingunits will keep your tank realy clean along with 2 turbine fans.A magnet brush will keep the walls in your tank from turning green like this guys. Most importantly monitor your fishes health and do weekly water changes. I hope my advice could help.

Go with RO/DI water, reduce your lighting to 100 watts max and your shitty looking tank will look better. Maybe try some T-5's or a 14k MH
