I think it's because Japan already has a humble and compliant workforce. Immigration is really about making money--foreign workers will work much harder for less money. It's really an unspoken bribe to the businessmen who are the REAL deciders in who enters the USA and who doesn't ... and if foreign workers signal them with the message: "I'll work harder for less if you let me in", they're in.

What I can tell you, many stores and restaurants will go out, many neighbors will have hard time finding nanny, gardener, pool men etc. or pay more for the service. The price of food go up. If they LEAVE.

Stores and restaurants will be filled with Americans who need work (still over 9% unemployed). Americans use to do gardening, landscaping, and many other jobs that many illegals occupy. WE SURVIVED JUST FINE in years passed without illegals. So go get educated, boy, you're entire post is ridiculous.

Look around low priced restaurant most people go to, burger shop, take out Chinese, deli, half of the customers are Mexicans. And of course, 80% Mexicans at Mexican restaurants as far as I can see.

I agree most other places hire them for cheap labor and or lower working condition because fear of being reported. That's still not a reason to hire them if people are willing to pay more for American labors. That simply means American consumers don't want to pay?

@allgoo19 I have been in McDonald's with friends, and gone through drive-thru's with friends. I have eaten there in the distant past. McDonald's are everywhere, including the suburbs. If they closed in your area, maybe it's because more people are health-conscious these days, or the location is bad.. Employers ARE greedy, that's why illegals get hired over Americans. From what I found, consumer market dictate 85% of the economy. Most small businesses have hard time keeping it if 10% of prolonged sales decrease, and at 20%, it'd be fatal. We are talking about 50% of sales gone forever.
The law won't work. Or, if it works, there will be outcry from businesses, then the law will be repealed. The governor will probably be voted out too.

I have just read your web site and take issue with one statement. U.S. Citizenship is not a gift. As far as the rest of the world is concerned I believe that anyone wanting to become a U.S. Citizen is expected to know that this is a goal that takes work to accomplish. This is no "gift" it is a "privilege" that we bestow after someone proves that they are worthy. Though most don't see it, it is a responsibility to uphold the constitution and to make sure that the people that we elect do the same.
