Is the Sanyo Xacti REALLY Waterproof?

I've just bought this camera second hand for my holiday next week. I just wondered, is this used in a chlorine pool or salt water? Also, do you have to 'rinse' it clean afterwards with fresh water? Thank you.

I have this camcorder. The noise when it goes in the water seems to be water and air moving around in the two microphone holes. I think if you let the air escape and then record, you'll get less of the weird noise.

No. It doesn't need a special case (like old cameras). The entire camera is waterproof, as the battery/SD card compartment is locked airtight. It's as easy as flipping it open and hitting the record button.

Awesome. I am going to buy one. One question though, are the images really clear or do they look alittle foggy?

Still images come out just fine, 8 megapixel (so it's not as good as a high-end Canon, but way better than any cellphone). They may look a little foggy or smudged if there are water drops on the lens itself, but that's not a problem underwater.

Interesting. Wow I don't need to film under water but great to have something you don't have to worry about in the rain. Ty for the "real" test. Off this am to Daytona Beach Shores. It will be fun regardless of what the weather sends us.
