these buildings give me a stomach ache to even look at them! This "architect" must have a twisted soul to crank out this rubbish!! Who would pay to have their building look like this? Disgusting!! The inner twisted soul of a jew perfectly illustrated!!
Watching Frank Gehry's works makes me miss architecture... I wanna practice it again... I love the video though the music seems to destruct me from savouring my moment watching Gehry's master pieces... :)
Well a lot of his stuff looks like bits of paper and pieces of tin foil which he picked out of his waste basket. piled up into a mess and then called it 'high concept'
@Arckitekt Only Architect wannabe-artists are inspired by Gehry. They think through simple cutting and pasting of crumpled and folded pieces of papers, they have a chance to become Architects. Even though they don't have any knowledge of function, Mathematics, Science, Structures, MEP, quantity surveying and all sorts of knowledge real Architects should have
Most people who criticize Gehry don't understand him. He's not known for sustainable design but he's an innovator and his spaces are beautiful. His biography is so inspirational
Frank gerhy is my favorite architect of all times...i wish his firm was here in dallas. I would definitely work at his firm....Ive been to the Bilboa museum this past summer in spain and its breath taking.. Go Frank!!
Great work, We want to introduce Trinity Stone 60mm interlocking paver coming in 2011. Link to UrLifescape channel and view Trinity Stone. We are a design company in California and we are building connections with architecs, professional suppliers, contractors and media groups. Trinity Stone has a unique star patttern and a 3D illusion pattern, a must see. Please post a comment, we are interested in your opinion. Thank you. Trinity Stone set to hit market the summer 2011.
I used to hate Frank O. Gehry. Now I don't hate him, because I understand him better. Back then I was just an ignorant kid. I think it takes understand to appreciate such a complex works. It's like modern art. Most people see it as craps. When you study art history, you will understand it.
it is a shame, that this atitude that we have as architects to create nice buildings for the sake of lifestyle , has actually put us as humans in troubles when it comes to environmental problems, livability, energy saving. i am happy that this era with the star-chitects creating fabulous sculptures is about to end.
Architecture is not about provoking people to admire you.it is about giving solutions to problems in the most environmental friendly and human-centered way.it is moving from ego-centric to eco-centric.dear zaha n dear gehry, it is time for you to put your prada shoes back in the closet.
Adding Jimi Hendrix music to this video show was a great idea. Actually one of Frank's first ventures with the use of lead coated copper (before his use of titanium) was designed and built in Toledo, Ohio for the Toledo Museum of Art, where we are located.
I am not a fan of his most popular works because I like my universe to have definite shapes: circles, squares, triangles, et cetera. However, I understand that many people loves his works, but I am just the opposite.
@birdpoo01 the universe is not squares and circles, swim in the ocean and see how geometric it is. it is better architecture to me to use the curves that gehry uses because they have a greater capacity to capture feeling through spaces.
very good!!!la morfologìa es interesante y muy fuerte!!!!la obra de Frank GHery es una escultura !!!! muy bello su modo de expresar la Arquitectura!!!!!!!!!!
I think any1 who doesn't understand what he did is ignorant.
If its truly his creation, than its his individuality.
Its like he's the Catcher and the Rye & 2 that I would say U R all assholes, b/c 2 attack his creation is 2 attack him as a person.
However, 4 those that get it:
People dont want their lives fixed. Nobody wants their problems solved. Their dramas. Their distractions. Their stories resolved. Their messes cleaned up. Because what would they have left? Just the big scary unknown.
I think Frank Gehry has created a mess. Architecture should not be designed from the outside, and then it function and client are throw in. I don't believe good architect is designed that way. That;s the problem with Frank, he got it backwards. Good architecture is designed from the inside out.
I <3 Gehry. From what I know about him, it may be true that he's not that involved with or concerned about the technical aspects of his buildings (you can get away with that when you're world-renowned), but he is still a design genius. Thanks for the vid!
Actually i worked in 2 of the 3 O'Gehry buildings in the Media Harbour in Düsseldorf / Germany... the white one on the left, and the silver one in the middle... I really love his style, and his buildings all over the planet. Also, and I think that moment would have been orgasmic for architects, I had the chance to see the construction plans.. really really impressive! Thanks Frank! :)
I am not trained at all in art or architecture, but I really like his buildings. I see your point about building an everlasting structure, but I think he will open a lot of doors (if not imaginations) for younger architects who will have the knowledge to make it work. If I were sinking millions into a new design, as a investor you want to make sure it lasts. I just can't get over the beauty of these buildings! WOW
I think clients have to expect some problems with new, innovative designs like his. It's new territory. Even Frank Lloyd Wrights buildings, like Falling Water, have had serious structural, water and construction problems. I would think other issues, like the building reflections and the heat transmitted by the reflective surfaces, would be a bigger concern.
Dear BigBoy5604, you can dislike Gehry's designs, and you are able to design with your self ideas, but really you have to recognise that Gehry have innovative and plastical designs.
@BigBoy5604 Its your fault if you dont get Gehry! lol to not be aggrevated by his buildings i take more inspiration from his ideas than his building as a whole. The texture, spaces, and creative ways he evokes emotion from form is what i love about his work. you said his interiors lack practicality but there are still great ways he uses space and light and other ways to make his design as dynamic as it is.
@reidclifford gehry designs from the inside out. i am an architect and i would never pay another architect to design anything for me, as i wouldn't expect any other architect pay me.
@BigBoy5604 Big Boy you are right a complete architec should consider noy only the external apearance of their buildings, but also the livability and functionality. I think it is really a little show off, but I still like it. Fortunately I dont have to live there...
There are lots of designs that win prices or appears in magazines that are very cold (marble, inox., etc...) and I´m sure that I would rather live in a woden cabin with a fireplace and confortable furniture and rugs...

Architecture is a sculpture itself. It doesn´t need to be like one of Gehry´s design, that´s just his style...

"Architecture should speak of time and place, but yearn for timelessness."
Ironic that he didn't achieve either. He created such a mess in this world.
