  • Glad I read these comments...Thinkin I'll stay away from this Heli...but happy with the other 3 E-flites I have

  • I had the same problem. I unplugged the motor, slightly pinched the male end and it has worked fine for several dozen flights. It must have been a poor fitting plug

  • mine was working fine under perfect flight nice controlled all of a sudden i take it out to fly it and the tail motor doesn't spin at all. even on throttle full. junk tail motors. need to recalll, horizon hobby!

  • the Motor must have overheated and burned out

  • had a gust of wind come along and mine hit the house tail first then fell to ground tail first got parts for it and put it together but the tail motor is broken it still spins but the hei just spins to the right uncontrolibly

  • i dont think the motors failed, it most likely an internal break in the wire, same thing happened to me, ya just gotta re-solder the wire.

  • My motor failed to after 5 flights i held the wire then it worked. So i put a small zip tie around wires and boom/motor now it works!

  • Same problem I had, and a new tail motor didn't fix the problem for me. Don't buy it.

  • I received mine today and rotor failed in 3rd flight..

It seems related to the connector as touching it makes the tail motor to work or dont..

Should i contact support or try to fix the connector?

  • I have same problem with mine. Look at the connection between the motor and the bom. There was my problem. A bad soldering.

  • My 120 SR tail motor failed after about 7-8 flights. Replaced it & so far so good.

This is a common problem from what I`ve seen. Shame, cause it`s a sweet

    model otherwise.

  • @BUGGER9946 My replacement motor has been perfect.. over 200 flights without any problems..

  • i got the new motor for free from the seller and it flies perfect!! watch my video flying it with on board cam!!!!! youtube.com/watch?v=KBzsNf5fIRs

  • O.K., A week later I have just received a new tail boom/motor assembly under warranty. There is a bearing with the new tail boom. I don't think the old one had a bearing? I am not sure wich direction to face the bearing? Looks like it goes between the blade and motor on the motor shaft. Any advice??

  • Loving my 120SR. I have about 15 battery packs through it and have not had a problem. Works good outside and with some space can be flown indoors without a problem. At the hobbyshop I work at we have sold many of these and not one has come back with problems.

  • @Shawn041 Yes, I would expect that.. I think I just had very bad luck.. the replacement motor is going strong after over 200 flights

  • I got mine yesterday and it already failed..I got it on bay do u think the seller will replace the motor for free?

  • @yogevsery You should be able to get a new motor under warranty.. I did and now have over 200 flights with absolutely no problem

  • Mine failed after hovering for only 4 battery charges. E-flight needs to get on top of this! I e-mailed them.....no response yet.

  • I have one too but I saw you said you bought three extra batteries... Do you use one battery after another or do you give it time to cool off in between each one. The motors do get pretty hot. Let me know. Thanks

  • @WestVU86 Hi, I fly regularly, but usually give it a few minutes between flights... since replacing the tail motor on the 2nd day I have not had any problems at all.. Mine now has over 200 flights and is going great.

  • Two failed blade 120 SR's within the space of a week........

Horizon Hobbies needs to step up to the plate and make it right

  • @helibladerunner74 My Tail motor quit th efirst day also and come to find out it was a loose wire back at the connection on the 5 in 1 unit. fixed my self and it flies great!!!!!!

  • I not really sure posting this vid on here is a good idea as it give's the idea that the 120SR is crap, which it is not ! as you now agree.

Its a super little heli 50 flights in not tail motor issue's you just got unlucky its bound to some with so many in production.

    Happy Flying : )

  • @fisherboom Yes, I have to agree.. The 120SR is awesome and I have have over 80 good flights on it now... I just had bad luck with the first tail motor but the one replaced under warranty is perfect..

  • On my 15 or 20th flight it was going perfectly and all of the sudden my tail blade snapped in half and I didn't hit anything and my tail motors factory solder job came undone and the connecter went missing also

  • UPDATE - I took it back to the store and they replaced the tail motor under warranty - I also bought 3 spare batteries. I've had 6 flights with the new tail motor now and it runs PERFECTLY! I really love this heli - even flew it outside for the first time. The Low Voltage cutoff kicks in just over 7 minutes into a flight. So I now use a timer on 6 minutes and that is plenty of time. Batteries show around 22% remaining at that point..

Off to a sorry start but well redeemed!!! GREAT HELI!

  • @Trainboy64 Nice to hear that. I just got mine today and as expected another great product from E-Flite. Flew it in the wind and it held up very nice!. Love this paticular size. Check out the MIA Upgrades I have for it already, on my web site, on Monday.

  • Do you have a similar size tail motor you can try it with? Could also be the controller and not the motor. If the new tail motor desn't work, then there might be something wrong with the controller. Did you buy it direct from Horizon? or a small Hobby Shop? I've never had issues with stuff direct from Horizon. But then again could be a dud.

  • @MarioIArguello No, I don't have a similar motor to try. I only bought it yesterday from a hobby shop - the box was sealed and it was brand new - I will take it back to them tomorrow - He's a good guy in the shop and I'm sure he'll replace it on the spot.

  • @Trainboy64 Yes, best to take it back and get a replacement while it is stil under warranty. Best of luck and have fun when you get a working one.

  • sorry to hear this mate. They are having alot of issues with the bigger SR as well. I have the MSR and the SR but my SR hasnt failed on the tail motor yet.

Im holding off getting one of these till i see some decent outdoor videos and some decent reviews.

  • @stalyoni It was flying beauitfully right up to the point where the tail motor failed - I Love my MSR and this one was equally fun.. I can't wait to get a replacement today and fly it again (I'm normally a fixed wing RCer, so the MSR and this are about as far as I'll go with the helis.. just some indoor fun at night or during bad weather...
