can't help it... this performance right here may be neal's overall best - can't help this either ... screw carlos santana.... bigotted.. theif...arrogant..jerk..santana made such un- American statements in atlanta on civil rights day ( of all the events to be bigotted) ..absolutetly unthankful to the country which GAVE him his succes...screw you santana.. I used to be a big fan - but you are no American..
THIS IS AWESOME!!....thanks for posting (got anymore!!??) Neal is a guitar master and I was fortunate to see this show in California in '94 and still am blown away by Neal's playing that night. He just tore it up and all the songs center around his masterful playing. Wish thay would regroup for a another tour.
Damnnnn! I wish I had this video. I wish I saw them live! Screw Journey - the one with Steve Perry and now the Filipino dude, not the ORIGINAL Journey. Abaxas Pool!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Neal Schon is undoubtedly the most underrated guitarist of all time. Even though I have been a huge Journey fan since near their inception, it really pains me to say Neal's true talents have been somewhat rather overlooked playing with Journey.
Great jams with Greg Rollie and Neal on a Jackson guitar. He was more a Les Paul & PRS guitar cat. I'm so proud of brother Arnel Pineda's history making with one of my favorite guitar heroes lf all times! Neal Schon has been rockin us all for the past 4 decades!
Fantastic stuff! Loved this CD, saw them play live at House of Blues LA. Killer!!! But, I must say, playing those old Santana tunes live, you could feel some hole in the soul without Carlos. It was still wayyyyyyy smokin'!
@jongreek .. Saw and met them in San Diego probably after your show in LA when they had a small tour for their Abraxas Pool CD. They were awesome and essentially sounded like vintage Santana minus Carlos. they sounded awesome!!

These guys were so great. But all talk about Mr. Schon? How about the amazing Michael Shrieve or Gregg Rollie. Gregg's voice really brings this great music to life I think.
Are you friggin' serious? ABRAXAS POOL LIVE ON VIDEO?????Neal at his best..Could be the CD of 1994,the most underrated cd of the 90's. I didn't even know that they played live. Thanks to whoever posted this.
This sound is mastered by Carlos and Neal there is no who's better. The music that they could create together would be a real treat. Now as for Sunedosa, Carlos is connected to PRS and Mesa Boogie and has a rep. for clean sustain and if you would get your head out of your asx you would what tone is. I Hope these two would do something for their fans together.
what a bunch of girls both guitar player are outstanding blues players and thier understanding of clave is what sets them apart i have a whole new respect for neals montunos on the abraxase album then again carlos has been doing that for years
Abraxas Pool was a great band but pleaseeeeee do not even approach downgrading Carlos. There is no one, and I mean no one who can convey emotion like Carlos Santana. But the beauty of music is the huge spectrum of choices available and " there is no best" but thousands of musical angels. Peace
You should add in your opinion to that,i disagree completly as i never liked santana, his music or his guitarplaying. For me he conveys nothing but crap tone and phrasing, nothing of the emotion you claim to hear. For me Neal was ,is and will always be miles ahead of Carlos in every way but thats in my opinion.
Anyone can get emotional when playing but, that doesn't mean that they play good. Just look at Angus Young. All emotion but, hey, the guy stinks. So does Santana. He's no Jeff Beck. You want emotion- Jeff Beck. You want a hack with bad tone, poor phrasing and repetitive three note licks over and over. I love the band Santana and the percussion and all that but, I do without that nasty guitar playing.
I recently got my copy and listened to the whole thing. It's awesome! Better than anything Santana has produced in the last 20yrs,..in my opinion. Great vocals & song writing!
Does anyone know the lineup..Is that Greg Rollie on keyboards, the original singer of 'Black Magic Woman'. Tell me Pete Escovedo is on timbales...Looks like a great show. I wish I was there
Can you post more of this? It's too bad they couldn't reunite and do a tour I'd love to see them. Add Carlos and you've got the best line up of Santana.
santana who !!!! ABRAXAS pool need'd no santana to sound like this .This is the True 1970's santana sound that santana give up for a Newer sound thank god that the rest of the band still around to paly it and that they don't Need santana to do it .I hope they get get togther for again for ABRAXAS pool 2 VIVA Abraxas POOL !!!!!!!!!!!!

Neal Schon ripped off Peter Green's Supernatural for this tune. I don't care...the
Abraxas tune kills and so does Peter Green.

Yeah, he designed the Schon guitars back in the 80's. It's gorgeous isn't it?
Neal was my first true guitar hero and he still rocks. I like this style of music better than Journey, it's so cool.

Schon is 100 times the guitarist Carlos could ever dream of being. Carlos is good, but he's not even in Neal's league.

Agree...funny how Carlos made everyone think he was playing lead when Neal was in Santana. When Neal left..you can hear holes in Carlos' solos.
