This is quite similar in style to the other recent documentary on Kleiber which has just come out-both offer intriguing insights, though this one we are spared a rather stiff English commentary.
I can't quite decipher what Otto Schenk is inferring about the Karajan relationship. Anyone have a clue? What is the "guilty conscience" about? "Nostalgia"? He says he didn't believe it was veneration.....but "in the last resort" it was.
Kleiber once wrote an open letter to Celebidache who had mouthed of about nearly every major conductor apart from Furtwängler. Kleiber responded in a quite humorous way and said that "concerning Karajan, actually we conductors are all abit jealous of him".
(con). Karajan was probably the most technical of all conductors whereas Kleiber was almost the polar opposite. In Kleibers own words Karajan's way of getting results "seems like black magic".
Thank you so much for uploading this wonderful video.... He has given me so much inspiration!! Thank you!!!

He means that he was secretly jealous.
