  • Brass, you should question the proper function of a government. And question your own view of the benefecence, or malevolence, of man. If you cared about man, if you realized that his proper relationships are mutually benevolent, you would want every single one of them free- with a government acting solely to prevent violation of rights, that is to take force out of civilian interaction. Such a free society promotes charity, increases quality of life, and benefits all.

  • Doctors are professionals that work their whole lives to perfect their trade. They dont owe it to ppl to help them. Is this guy retarded? Does he have it in his head that with universal healthcare doctors are expected to not be compensated for their services? To travel around helping ppl they meet like they are Jesus? This isnt communist China doctor!! I dont even know why he made this ludricrous statement. As tho ppl expect doctors to work for free, which in fact, many of them do. Imagine that.

  • Finally, his statement of how healthcare is a priveledge, not a right is nonsense. He calls it a service and tries to imply that doctors are like contractors or something. We are talking about ppls lives here you fool!! Not having new oak cabinets installed in your kitchen. It seems that doctors in the rest of the world become doctors so they can help ppl and use their intellect and dedication to save lives. Apparently in the US ppl become doctors solely for the financial benefit.

  • As well, his metaphore of a desert island is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. We arent on a desert island. This isnt Lord of the Flies you moron. We live in a society, we help each other and work together. We arent savage animals. If he feels hes just here for himself, and not part of the big machine that is the US, than why the fuck is he even a citizen? Whats the point? I'd like to see him go live on a deserted island in the South Pacific and see how he does without the help of society.

  • The reason a person chooses to live in a society is because it benefits him, he gets more value out of it than he would living by himself. But if members of society start to violate rights and treat you like you're a cog in a machine, then that whole evaluation of society has to be reconsiderd.

  • I havent watched the other 2 vids yet but so far this mans arguments pompous and nonsensical at best. He talks about universal healthcare like its the most absurd and impossible thing ever. Well he lives in the ONLY industrialized country that doesnt have a universal health care system in the world. Now I'm not an economist, but tell me doctor, how do all the other countries (Australia, Britain and EU, Canada, France... to name a few) do it?

  • They do it by violating the rights of their doctors and their citizens, you know like any socialist program does it.

  • Yes, the only country who had it right was the USA. It was the contry who came the closest to a fully free capitalist economy.

You can't compare the police to medicine, policing and protection of rights are a legitimate functions of the government.

  • And teachers? You'll say whatever nonsense to make you outlandish statements seems appropriate.

  • Same thing, why should I be FORCED to pay for teachers with my taxes, i dont have kids.

  • I'd like you to explain how the doctors and citizens rights are violated in a country with universal healthcare. Lets say France. Tell me all about it, please.

  • He makes a good point, but there needs to be a broader one. Socialists typically don't think that a doctor, in virtue of being a doctor, are morally obligated to help any given person. They typically argue that every citizen in society has a moral obligation to fund the health services, and so compensate the doctor for his effort.

  • Excellent points, Dr. Lewis! Conservatives need to realize that socialized medicine is the "brother's keeper" doctrine being consistently applied, and that socialized medicine cannot be fully defeated until people realize that they are not their brothers' keepers.

  • lol, defeat... you ppl crack me up.
