  • i can so understand where this man is coming from . its hard when you are unable to do anything about your life when it depends on someone else. happy xmas all . haha always say its will be the last but never is . i am such a wimp. beso all

  • ..brought tears to my eyes

  • This just breaks my heart...so moving.

  • Goddess... =´)

  • perfect song for the scene in She's Having A Baby

  • MOst heartbreaking video song ever!!

  • Love this song, was rather disappointed with the reworking done on it on Directors Cut. It doesn't have the same power as this original to me. But hey it's Kate got to love her.

  • The only thing that's as beautiful as this song is the music video for it.

  • Is that Tim McInnerny??

  • @SuperPipers1 Sure is! Blackadder FTW!

  • @SuperPipers1 I was just thinking the same thin! Sure looks like him, doesn't it? (Hello, Darling!)

  • well... actually i came here because i was curious with shinee's jonghyun solo at shinee world concert in singapore earlier, but omg this song is damn beautiful!!

  • @Arielesha hi fellow shawol. ;-) end up here cuz of jjong too. he sang it beautifully too. I can understand why jjong chose this song. Sounds awesome.

  • Sooo dam beautiful:)....

    song and Kate:)

  • i had no idea what maxwell was singing about until now the two versions are great

  • I didn't cry this hard since i watched Dancer in the dark. And I cried A LOT.

  • my mum cried when i described this video to her,,,LOL, no but seriously, the first time i saw this it made me distraught, still makes me choke slightly...amazing :)

  • Beautiful.

  • this song makes me cry this deserves more than a billion views its soo emosh ! NOW thats real music that touches tha heart :")

  • This is so sad, brings me out in goosepimples and reminds me of my mum. I defy anyone with a heart to sing along with it without choking up (especially the "I should be crying, but I just can't let it show, all the things I should have done, said, etc). Listen to the piano and backing, it's pure magic......

  • it makes me cry

  • Awesome music video. Beautiful song. Never heard it or seen the movie before but I like it already.

  • Goddess.

  • Magnifique vidéo de Kate qui me fait pleurer d émotion à chaque fois que je la regarde.

Awesome Kate' vid that each time I see it with emotion, I'm crying.

    Thanks for post it.

  • Carmen? What are you doing here?

  • one of the saddest songs ever

  • Beautiful song! Love Kate!

  • Often imitated, never surpassed!

  • The one person who disliked this video is a douchebag.

  • ...needed this song today.

  • Kate Bush is absolutely brilliant ... any attempt at re-recording this masterpiece of hers should be avoided ... and the versions that have been released should be destroyed at once!

  • @odessa702 Kate herself has done a 2011 version, and although good, it's not nearly as good as the original!

  • fantastic, love kate bush

  • łapka w górę jeśli przywiodło was tu YCD :)

  • I remember this song being played for the advert of this itv drama back in 2006.. It's taken me 5 years to finally find this song!!

  • MAGNIFICENT SONG

  • Quality never ages. nichthewood

  • what a track: wow

  • Beautiful song!! The video makes a little bit too much in my opinion..

(Can hardly wait for Kate´s new album!!!)

  • Why is the nurse smiling?? That confuses me...

    But I cried anyway.

  • @Hardleysm Because in this version of the story the woman, who had the stroke (not pregnant at all), is all right :) She made it. Or at least I hope so...

  • Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks...This one of a only a handful of songs that catches me out every time..I think I'm ready to hear it without welling up...But, no, it grabs my heart and gets me so emotional. It's like reliving the moment I got my heart broken as a teenager.

  • makes me cry very time <3 x

  • They used this to great affect in a suicide scene of a girl with mental problems in an early episode of "without a trace" incredible peice of Tv

  • OMG what an emotional song and video its soo beautiful...know i understand the song

  • Regrets I have a few. Death is pish.

  • Something we could all learn from? Makes you appreciate the ones you love - life is too short to be angry.....

  • Wait. 2:25 is this Kate as a nurse?

  • Made a note in my diary on the way here. Simply says- "Bugger."

  • with wuthering heights, the most beautiful songs! i just want to say "wow"......;

  • This is the first time I've seen the video but this song got me through my wife's pregnancy. Once a woman is with child the fathers are forgotten about for the next 12 years.

  • I can't wait to hear the re-recording on the Director's Cut. It should be great, nonetheless! :0D

  • Classic Track - beautiful beautiful tune ... This was on my labour playlist (twice!)

  • I knew that Tim is a fine actor . . . This is stunning. Cry everytime I listen to this as I remember sitting up all night with my heavily expectant wife awaiting the hard birth of my little girl.

  • im crying, i feel like a dick and an idiot...

  • @Luke19Wales Don't. I'm a grizzled and cynical 57 year old, and I weep buckets at some of her songs. I can't listen to A Coral Room hardly at all.

  • classic song- the very best of british

  • Hang on !, aint he Ood now ?

  • with this song Kate shows every man how to cry

  • Kate Bush is a genius and a credit to the music industry and I absolutely adore this song, one of my faves of hers. Maxwell's version of this is really good as well, god, he can hit the high notes!!

  • @UneverknOwithK8 Kate's best off rid of EMI, just about everyone has deserted them since that moron Guy Hands bought them. Why the hell a bloke who runs a private equity firm thinks he can handle a record company is beyond me.

  • Tim McInnerny in this video, Hugh Laurie in 'Experiment IV', Miranda Richardson in 'The Line, The Cross and The Curve', sung onstage with Rowan Atkinson...didn't Kate get on with Stephen Fry or something? The rest of the Blackadder crew showed up! Hmm, maybe Tony Robinson wasn't suited to anything either...

  • I have new respect for Kate Bush now! I did not know she wrote this.

  • Beautiful beautiful tribute to every mother and what they do for us and give for us.

  • its almost make my cry

  • Stephen Fry would probably say... "Come on, Darling, stop crying."

  • @Leanashe23

    Ah, thought he looked familiar!

  • @Leanashe23 Definitely, Stephen Fry and Kate Bush are like our national treasures.

  • @Haddock420 Stephen Fry? It's Tim McInnerny you plonker

  • @gshamer I was replying to Leanashe23, who mentioned Stephen Fry, you plonker.

  • ... Curious to know if she will "re-edit" this on the Directors Cut" album. If so: i hope it will be just her and the piano.

  • Such a beautiful song..

  • Soothing out of this world senstitiveness and charm.

  • Like this video too even with the one of Blackadder fame and especially the album it's from. Comprehensible narrative that's relatively easy to follow, like a mini movie. Yes, her best self-directed video so far.

  • @UneverknOwithK8 Not suggesting anything. I like all stages of her voice (which never loses its magical vocal dexterity and sincerity), just as - I admit - I like all stages of her appearance, from ingenue to mature woman. Hey, I'm a male, we're driven!

I would so welcome new material ... I just have this feeling that they are teasing us with stuff that may never happen.

Never mind. Aerial remains one of the best things ever recorded.

Off now to listen to Joanni, a quirky fave.

  • @TheQuietEye I've been listening to Joanni ALL DAY today. And picturing the scenes with the sounds...

  • Stunning... :)

  • @UneverknOwithK8 OK, I wasn't serious about the money. And I know she's not in the pop star category. I just wonder why she wants to revisit old work ...... if it makes other people happy, then fine. I would just rather she produced something new, or left us with the great songs she has already produced. Not looking for conflict, here.

  • @TheQuietEye Kate's a perfectionist, in many of her interviews she mentioned that she's never satisfied with much of what she does, even though we are, for the most part! I think the 'Directors Cut ' album is an opportunity for her to correct some of those imperfections as she see's it. So that might be part of the motivation behind it. Like you though I'd prefer to see new material, but this new release is good too and at least she's stiring again, with a hint of new material to come.

  • Sorry, I don't believe the cheery interpretation.

But maybe I'm in less positive mood after reading the news about 'Director's Cut'. Does Kate need the money? Does she owe them a 'greatest hits' type album under some contractual arrangement? I thought she had control of her output.

Ed, this is a very large drink. Hello, large drink. Goodbye, large drink. Another? Why not.

  • Yes, it is a song with a HAPPY ENDING. And I was so depressed after my first encounter with that video... But yeah, the woman makes it and they have a baby. Just like in the Kevin Bacon mowie 'She's having a baby' for which Kate wrote that song.

  • @Sharmilka I never saw She's Having A Baby till years later after this single was released. I didn't think she was supposed to be pregnant in this video (she's drinking wine), rather she'd had a stroke or collapsed.

  • @darrenchadwick Well, then the 'little life in you' makes far less sense.

But ok, I'm not saying I'm 100% right.

  • @Sharmilka I always thought that meant something similiar to having "a little fight left in you" - i.e. you are strong enough to get through this. She is dying and telling him he can carry on without her, though luckily, he doesn't have to.

We're probably all wrong so we need an official explanation. And seeing as this is the official Kate Bush channel, perhaps we'll get one?

  • @darrenchadwick I think we should start collecting signatures for that ;)

btw, you were right. She's not pregnant in the video. I wasn't sure cause it wasn't that visible.

  • 'the song had originally been written to visuals, but the song has its own storyline as well, so then it was like making a film of the song. Obviously it's about a man waiting for wife having a baby. Now I didn't want to put myself in a situation where I have to be pregnant. . It's all too complicated. So left it very ambiguous. And I think it looks like a little film in that it tells a story. So I guess rather than talking about it, it might be nice to let you see it.

  • @darrenchadwick So thanks for your comments! It's clearer for me now. I'm a new fan and still discovering things.

  • Heart-wrenching video but has a happy ending: the nurse comes up and says "She's going to be allright." At least that's how I've always thought it ended. If I'm wrong, don't tell me.

  • the images really enhance the emotions.

I've always loved the rendition by Maxwell too, makes it even more powerful because it is a man singing it. But no one brings it home like Kate.

  • It makes me cry every time!

  • This is easily the strongest of Kate's self-directed videos. It's mood and settings enhance the song's deep sense of anguish, and it's performers tell a familiar story with limited sets and props. The song is the always the focus of the video, as it should be. Excellent work and worthy of multiple viewings.

  • Always loved this song (probably my favourite KB song along with Hello Earth), but this is the first time I've seen the video. Spent the whole time thinking, jeez that looks like Tim McInnerny. And so it was.

  • @rmthull Same here. First time I watch it, and I thought: "Ooh, it's Lord Percy!".

  • Genius, but unbelievably depressing.

  • I'm off to watch 'Violin' to cheer myself up!

  • Sorry, I literally cannot watch this. The emotions it evokes are just too strong.

  • That's the most beautiful song I've ever heard.

  • @Sharmilka you should listen to her song 'Sunset'...

  • @ifalconx Yes, I do it every afternoon. <3
