Star Trek should have beaten the crap out of B.5. Mostly because this film uses ships in constructed 100 years after the USS Enterprise NCC-1701. Sheilds or no sheilds, simply Star Trek used in this film should have been way more advanced. The question one has to ask is"Can 1966 Star Trek series win a battle against Earth Alliance in B.5? Note :USS Enterprise NCC-1701 was active at the same time as Excalibur.
uh... yes. the original enterprise had shields, warp drive, photon torpedoes, high yield phasers. All the stuff that the tng ships had except for replicators and holodecks. TOS era trek had a big fleet as well. The federation in the tos era trek had 1000 colonies and 100 or so member worlds.
@Aendiine Then don't watch it...I am sure you can find TNG somewhere. I am a TGN fan but the battles on that show sucked, now Deep Space 9 had better battles, but the show sucked.
@RCTPatriot75 I was not trying to pass this off like I made it, and if there is a problem with copyright, I will take it down. I am not making any money off of this, not a big deal for me to remove it.
need i remind ppl of mimbari jamming devices, the federation can sit there al they like with superior shields and weapons but wont be able to hit anythign....... AND towards thene d of b5 ships were fitted with hulls that deflected huge parts of the energy in weapons fire.... in effect the hull is also a shield
and federation shields have no protection against kinetic energy...... you fire a mass driver and its game over federation
@toby1kanobi1983 Correction: torpedoes are kinetic weapons. And they are actually LESS effective against shields than phasers/disruptors, since those types of weapons effectively drain energy from the shield. Let's also remember that the Earth Force weapons are largely primitive (by comparison) plasma weapons. ST used those in Enterprise, which was set a hundred years before KIRK. Sovereign-, Defiant-, etc class are over 200 years beyond that level.
Not Comparrison, Star trek would win easily, against Unshielded ships, a Photon Beamed into each ship ends this battle or better yet beam it's entire crew out into space
Just because B5 ships don't have shields doesn't mean the ships' hulls are not made to withstand attacks. And, with how the B5 universe ships are made, it could block transporter ablities to lock on to a person/persons. I think it would a draw but no one would watch a video like that.
There is actually no way to know whether a B5 Ship Could Block a Transporter beam as they themselves don't have the technology, Not even the Vorlons, Shadows or the First Ones have that Technology and thus no way to determine if their hulls could block a beam, and even if they could, The federation does have the Ability to destroy an entire Solar System with a Trilithium Protomatter torpedo or them with a Genesis Device, I really don't think B5 would survive.
The debate is Mute. B5 Technology just don't compare to ST. for one they Have Shields and B5 Don't people kill me making these Videos with no shields on the ST ships. it's no reason for it it's all BS. I love B5 it's one best SCI Fi Shows made but get real 1 Defiant is all it takes to take out the B5 ships period.
@Qugie The White Star has a Shield something about Using Vorlon Technology so it adapts to the the Type of Weapon to reflect it... I forgot about the episode when they explained it
The TNG Galaxy is armed with twelve phaser banks. Fourteen when it's split. Each beam from those banks puts out between 550 to 600 MWs. That's just one phaser and the Galaxy has some crazy firing arcs. One of those would tear apart anything in the B5 verse short of the First Ones.
ok, the Earth Force ships were junk that would be no match for even Capt Kirk's Enterprise.. they didn't even have gravity generators they had to rotate for gravity.. the Mimbari were a 1000 yrs ahead of Earth Force so their ships could beat any Federation ship even the latest ships...Centarui Republic and Narn Regime were also way ahead of Earth Force in the beginning of Babylon 5 the Mimbari shoulda kicked butt
Indeed. One question, really. Wtf happened to Quantum Torpedoes? They draw their power from Zero Point Energy for a multi-gigaton (or higher) explosive yield. Nothing unshielded can withstand that kind of detonation. Even the Scimitar in ST: Nemesis took some serious damage from just a couple bursts of Quantum Torps.
@fmcc0904 this is from space wreck: in the pirkinning which is a parody. if you watch them you would know why they dont use quantum torps (btw those photons are called light balls in the parody :p)
@tyedgy Fascinating, but I've seen all of the Wrecks, to include the cartoony ones. I was speaking in terms of pure series-against-series. B5 wouldn't last 2 minutes, especially if you took the FKR (Federation-Klingon-Romulan Alliance - DS9) to them.
@fmcc0904 Huh? How? The goddang fighters in B5 are the same size and 10x the firepower of a Klingon Bird of Prey! The B5 ships are just way bigger with way more firepower. The average warship in B5 is the size of a Dominion Dreadnaught in Trek!!!!
@Zedul Minbari Warcruiser was taken out by few 1-megaton nuclear mines. Shadow ships were taken out by 500 megaton explosions each. Star Trek uses weapons which are rated in gigatons per second for beam weapons and tens of gigatons for torpedoes.
@Picard578 Photon torpedoes in Trek are 2.5 to 3 megatons, by DS9 time the Quantum torpedoes are about 8 megatons and the "Chronition" warheads in voyager are about 20 megatons. So the most lethal missile weapons in trek aren't even 1/10th of the yield of the 500 megaton bombs that required multiple hits to destroy the SMALL shadow crabs As far as the one megaton bomb - JMS already pointed out that the nuclear mine that took out the black star was a "fluke" a one out of a million chance.
No Trek uses a hocum term called "isotons" and the maximim yield in Voyager is "80 isotons". The rek technical manual states that the torpedo contains only enough antimatter to yield a 64 megaton explosion at MAXIMUM efficiency, and often yields are much lower. In any case you see that these starships in Trek, which are quite SMALL compared to the Babylon 5 ships (even tiny whitestars are bigger than the galaxy class) being able to take multi hits from photons with shields down....
@Picard578 Where? I already stated they do not SAY megaton/gigaton in Trek they say "isoton" which is some mythical term - as a former Trek writer put it "techtalk" written in by people who don't even write the episodes!
Gigatons, seriously? I have seen unshielded trek ships take torpedo hits, do you have ANY idea how much a gigaton is? Those Trek ships are TINY something in the Gigaton range would vaporize a city let alone a tiny starship with paper thin walls and aluminum windows!
@Picard578 ROFL... Your calculations, are you a physicist?
Then explain to me how a simple dud low yield Klingon photon torpedo UNARMED and go right through an unshielded ship hull like it was plastic and yet that same ship hull could withstand GIGATONS? Not only is it unfeasible your are simply smoking hard core crack!
@Zedul Most probable explanation is: structural integrity failed in that zone, that same zone had extensive damage, so the Jem'Hadar(JEM HADAR NOT KLINGONS) chose that place to hit. However the photon torpedo had a problem and didn't explode. Tell me, does an almost destroyed in one place tank withstand the force of an unarmed projectile hitting in that same place?no
@Zedul paper thin walls???? aluminium windows??? man you must understand. DURANIUM=a metal alloy(composition unkown, most probably carbon fiber with different inserations) made to resist impacts and whistand phaser blasts, the later using force fields.
The Windows=I doubt that would be very thin, I think that those have some sort of optical illusion.
Also remember that a ship won't really be destroyed until it's engines are down(hard to hit...), command down(again, hard to hit) and warp engines
@StelarCF If you look at the tech specs the hull plating on the B5 ships is roughly 10x thicker et et. of course that is the advantage of having such large ships. I've seen time and time phasers and torpedoes just TEAR trek ships apart as soon as their shields go down. Remember in Wrath of Khan how the little defiant just opened enterprise wide open like a knife gutting a pig when its shields were down? So yea, paper thin.
@Zedul I'll end this discution saying this: if a Star Trek starship's walls are paper thin then a battle ships walls are 1 cm wide. That's how I see it
Yeah your right in start trek they say firing phasers whilst in warp is not possible but i have seen on numerous occasions phasers being fired when the ships are at warp, so i suppose they can be fired now or the creators just forgot they can't do that!!
while i do think this was VERY well made, it lacks one important fact: Star Fleet ships have SHIELDS!! The damage done to the federation ships could only occur if they had 0 shields. This video, while good, forgets this fact. So yeah, Start Fleet Tech could easily whoop B5 tech. & no, im not taking sides. I love each series for its own charm & style.
If you watched the movie this was made from, when the trek ships entered the b5 space, their shields ceased working. The quote was something like "Interesting. Our shields don't seem to work in this parallel universe"
In a given parallel universe, there needn't be the same laws of physics; although obviously they can't be too different otherwise the ships might fly apart or something lol
Because it's part of the dialogue. Do a google search for "Star Wreck: In The Pirkinning". Its in finnish so get the subtitles as well. Its also a hefty 500+MB file so clear out some space if you don't have room. ;)
Heh, macw04 be real for a second. I realize if you take all of ST's nonsensical use of pseudo-scientific terms at face value then they "explain" their tech. The fact is you can derive the elements of B5's HUMAN tech with simple observation coupled with an understanding of basic physics and tech. Now I'll be the first to say that B5's ALIEN tech is a bunch of Sci-Magic too. *facepalm* And don't even start about ST's sociological elements. It's not complex OR advanced. It's idealist & simplistic.
Nah, B5 wins a fight against ST easy. Star Trek isn't a tich more advanced, they just rely on a bunch of Sci-Fi magic, that wouldn't serve them too well in a universe where physics happens to apply. B5 might be "primative" but at least it has some ground to stand on. ;P
And what ground would that be? B5 doesn't explain hardly any of its technical abilities. Never once does any of the shows explain what powers their ships in any detail. Star trek goes out of its way to explain its technologies and how they function to better human kind. Not only is Star trek more advanced technologically, but it is more advanced sociologically. Humans in B5 are no more evolved in the 23 century then we are now in the 21 century.
this is from star wreck in the pirkinning.star trek is pirks empire and pirk thinks he is invinceble so he invades babylon 5 universe becase he wants power
Im sory, im a star trek fan too but youve got to concider that the whitestar's take one hell of alot of a beating before they go down they have like the equivilent of 10 times the standard ablative hull armor from a defyant class they would slice through sheilds like no tomorow.that and they can avoid just about anything with a good pilot on board.
I'm sorry, but the EA Omeaga Destroyers and White Stars wouldn't have been THAT much of a challenge. This vid would be acurate other then the fact that FEDERATION SHIPS HAVE SHIELDS! Plus the destructive force of one photo or quantum torpedo would have destroyed amd EA Crusier, and maybe 4 or 5 for all of B5
Even with all the races fighting, Babylon 5would win. The third space aliens could win alone. Their sheilds are supreme. They may even overkill anything in some cases.
Guys, don't forget: these *aren't* Starfleet ships. They weren't built by the Federation in the 24th century; they built by Pirk's Empire in the 21st century ;)
I liked it. I think that star fleet would do a bit better against earth force. I do think the White stars would be a problem, but even they dont really have shields, I don't see them getting past star fleets shields that fast. plus Babylon 5 ships usually seem a lot less resilient in the show.
If the Federation went to war with Earthforce, or any other B5 race, they would fine it difficult to get around in hyperspace because in DS9 the Prophets (i.e. wormhole aliens) control hyperspace. In the episode "sacrifice of angel" the prophets made an entire armada of Dominion ships (2800) vanish by perminently stranding them in hyperspace. Any B5 ship that enters hyperspace would be lost forever. And just like the Q the prophets are non-corporal beings, so they can't be hurt by telepaths
except that the profits control that wormhole, and there is a difference between the wormhole and hyperspace. pulse they only destroyed that Dominion fleet to protect Bajor.
Yes there is a difference in that a wormhole has a specific destination whereas traveling through hyperspace you can pick an exit destination, but wormhole travel is through hyperspace, the prophets are not bound just to that particular wormhole. Also the prophets stopped the dominion to protect not just Bajor, but to protect Capt Sisko who was the emissary.
The Fed ships seemed to do just fine even without their shields, quantum and spatial torpedos. Star fleet ships are not as fragile as most would think, they can take alot of punishment especially with abladive hull armoring that the Fed uses now. It helps dispurse the energy from an impact, something similar to the victory's armor. Still, the star fleet ships obviously fought without their full capabilities in this battle, but I think their agility was their greatest assest in this situation.
Well, the Federation wouldn't just show up and start firing. But the Earthforce ship would have had Minbari backup and godforbid the Vorlons the battle would have been over. The biggest problem would have been avoiding the blast radius when their Warp Cores lost containment.
You guys are forgetting that the B5 ships have armor to the tune of 8-10 meters thick. We've seen Federation weapons to have poor performance against armor and hulls in the past. The reliants attack on the unshielded enterpise in the wrath of kahn..the defiants armor was able to sustain many hits from an exelsior class ship ect. B5's omega destroyer is like 1700 meters long. The enterprise D reactor puts out bout 4k terrawatts where the omega can put out 101k terrawatts. They match up well.
The whitestars of B5 are much more cool than most Trek vessels. out of all the Trek ships only the Enterprise D, E, and Voyager are ever considered "beautiful and majestic." When you bring in the Minbari, Vorlons, and Shadows....no match.
I kept hoping that the Vorlons would jump in and kick Starfleet butt! If the Whitestar ships could have been backed up by Minbari Heavy Cruser class ships this battle would have been very different. Where were the Vorlons when we needed them?!
This is most likely after the Shadow wars when the First One's left our galaxy. The First One's never would have let things get this out of hand in their playground.
Not to mention the other first ones like the Walkers of Sigma 957. How could startfleet ships even target Shadows if they phase in, fire and then phase out in to Hyperspace?
Because Shadow vessels also only have cutting beams and quantum bolt cannons. This would hit the shields of a Starfleet vessel and the captain would say, "Anybody feel that?" ;^)
"Anybody feel that?" "Sir,it appears that we have been cut in half" "The shields were up right?" "Yes sir, but the shadow tech is billions of years ahead of ours."
VORLONS: We will overkill them like 765,000 times. If 1 planet killer jumps in, Everyone is dead ! Including the planet. Besides, we're at the "rim" right now.
Babylon 5 doesn't take place in another dementia. It takes place in our own dimension. It's just simply a different fictional version of our future. And I don't believe traveling to a different dimension would render the Starfleet shields inoperable anyway. If that were the case, wouldn't the weapons fail as well? Outside of the fact that these vessels wouldn't exist in the same timeline either. The Starfleet vessels used here are from the 24th century. Not the early 2260's.
Star Trek more than most seems to have firepower based on plot. In some episodes, a few starships (or just one) can wipe out a planet's civilization. In others, they can't blow up an asteroid or cause small explosions to surface targets. Range is even worse. In some cases, they can hit a dime on a planet surface, but have to close within spitting distance to kill another ship. I would suggest giving up on SciFi consistency :).
Man, i love the way you geeks come up with these imaginary facts for imaginary ships. But ok, if you want to play that game..in Star trek voyager "the omega directive" the crew modified a photon torpedo to fire a 54 isoton charge, which they said could destroy a small MOON....which would make short work of your Victory destroyer which takes a minute to recharge after it has fired its main gun.... the voyager could fire a dozen 54 isoton torpedos in one salvo. That equals 12 destroyed EA ships
You forgot after the Victory fires its main gun, Voyager »WILL« be destroyed! I go by FACTS eveything I say is facts.(from B5 tech Site) The victory's main gun did destroy a ship 59km long in 1 shot. If you think my facts are imaginary, Then type "Super Quantum Discharge Cannon" on google or go to B5 tech. I know you wont do it.I'm a fan of both shows, but I know pure power when i see it. B5 have planet killers and alot of super weapons. YOUR Torpedoes will get shot down by interceptor cannons.
In the episode "The Doomsday machine" the constitution enterprise went up against a planet killing machine whose main beam was able to break up a planet. The enterprise was hit with the planetkillers beam with shields up full and while the beam knocked out the shields and the warp drive, the ship still survived the hit and was able to avoid the front of the machine for the rest the episode. The voyager could out-fly the Victory and stay away from it's main gun enough to beam a bomb over.
In one of the TNG novels, the doomsday macine was revealed to be a failed prototype anti- Borg weapon. It wasn't evn meant to destroy planets. Both Shadows and Vorlons built machines designed to do exactly that.
It's kinda funny that as soon as a Federation ship's shields go down, it's exploding consoles all over. B5 ships are clearly able to withstand much more of a beating (Whitestars especially so), Trek ships seem to put all their faith in their shields. No shields, no Federation.
and just for good measure.........the Shadows/Vorlons/First ones and Third space aliens wouldn't last 2 seconds against the Q continuum.......one thought from the Q and everything in B5 would cease to exist.........you cannot beat a GOD and that is what Star trek has.
HAahahaah that was a good joke, Q's can be hurt by psychic beings. The Shadows/Vorlons/First ones and Third space aliens are all extemely powerful psychic beings. Dude get you facts right. Study before you say things like that. The mighty Q has fallen, NOW WHAT? ☼☼☼
yes i mean EA can't hang with the UFP, cause that is what the video is about, the EA vs star trek, not star trek vs the shadows/vorlons/first ones.....whatever....you B5 EA fans can't handle loosing so you have to start including all the other races into the mix. And as far as REAL SCI-FI fans are concerned Babylon 5 is a minor production that lasted only a few years and with a very small fan base. Star trek has lasted 40 years with Millions of fans, so again, B5 cannot hang with Star Trek
The UFP had had hell trying to take down 1 Victory class destroyer. They would'nt last 30 sec versus 40 of them. FACT:
the Victory's main gun destoyed a ship 59km long with one shot(watch Crusade). EA uses Shadow and Vorlon tech thats why the UFP would lose versus them. Shields or no shields, you cant block 10 Exawatts to the power of 21. Plus I hear particle beams ignore shields, that's what most B5 ships use. I DONT CARE IF THEY HAD A DECILLION FANS. (the number 1 followed by 36 zeros)☼☼☼
How about we include V'GER from star trek the motion picture, you know the giant 80mile long, 10 mile tall ship inside the cloud. That ship had a shield greater than all the energy that the sun puts off, and its advanced plasma weapons destroyed anything on contact. That ship alone could destroy.....everything in babylon 5, First ones, third aliens, shadows, vorlons, anything they throw at it would be disintegrated with one shot.
IN YOUR DREAMS TREKKIE! Did you know that Vorlon planet killer can destroy planets bigger than jupiter? First of all your 80 mile long ship would get blown up INSTANTLY. (not a chance) More power than the sun you say? The VPK has unlimited power (fact). It can destroy anything of any size. Even if your ship was the size of the solar system, it would still get blown up INSTANTLY. Babylon 5 is more powerful than you think. Do a little bit more reading next time...Only Q have a chance at winning.
You keep saying FACT, but when i look up what a VPK can do all of the information is very contradictory, some say it can destroy a planet in one shot, others say it takes a few shots, ones says that it can shoot multiple times at once, others say it needs a week to recharge. Nowhere has it said that it could blow up a planet as big as jupiter. Nowhere does it say that it can destroy a solar system (actually sounds retarded when you say that). So I don't know where you are getting your FACTS.
Well it seems that you were looking in all the wrong places.(and im pretty sure you didn't look at all.) My facts come from B5tech. It says "the planet killer can destroy planet of any size." and It says "it uses the infinite power of hyperspace tap." Do you know what infinite power means? Infinite means: it never ends. The vorlons could blow up the whole universe if they wanted to.
Trust me your little planet killer would have a much tougher time than you think. V'Ger had a giant sensor defecting cloud around it. If a VPK approached it, by the time it figured out where to shoot it would have 100 plasma devices hitting it and disintegrating it. One thing i did read was that the VPK took time to position itself and power up for its shot, by the time it was able to shoot, V'Ger would destroy it along with all it's escorts. Also nothing in B5 can stand up to the Q, NOTHING
No my VPK wont have any problem. You forgot that b5 ships can jump in on you and kill you instantly. So once again The Vpk wins. See it's things like Q that make me dislike StarTrek. B5 don't need some magic, fake godlike being to win a war. Oh, Vorlon armor will adapt to plasma weapons damge will be reduced to 1/10000th. Only thing that will be disintegrating is your ship.
If this fight were done with all of the Fed ships capabilities...this would be a route for the Feds. The B5 ships being large and slow could not match agility with the Fed ships. And the biggest thing...where are the UPF shields. Secondly, UPF would use there transporters to beam antimatter bombs onto the B5 ships. Thirdly, UPF had weapons that could disrupt subspace which would prevent the B5 ships from forming jump point, so they could stop any reinforments. B5 cannot hang with star trek
You mean Earth Alliance can't hang with star trek (that's a lie). Know this, REAL sci-fi fans will tell you that the Shadows/Vorlons/First Ones/or the Third Space Aliens will Overkill anything star trek throws at them. That is just a FACT. No matter how much you star trek fans whine about it. You can't beat a hundred billion years of tech(babylon5) with a hundred thousand* years of tech (Star Trek). Common sense. Feel free to whine now...
B5 Ships are FAR more manuverable. The WhiteStars are just as fast in sublight if not faster then any Fed ships. WhiteStars and Victory classes can turn All phaser fire. As for beaming the weapons onboard? They they'd have to lower their shields. All things at max the Feds would win. But had the EAF Destroyers been replaced by something like Mimbari cruisers it would be the other way around. EAF Destroyers (while a beautiful functional design in my mind) are crap.
OK, if you'll look in this video, the entire battle the Feds didn't have their shields. Their ships still were able to take alot of hits and able to survive. At any time they could have beamed any number of things onto the B5 ships, assault troops, borg nanites, bombs, computer viruses. The whitestar ships, i concede, are more agile, but the victory (3000 meters long) is too large to out manuverable any of the starfleet ships in this video.
You need to watch some more star trek before you say stuff like that....if you'd watched Voyager: you would know that they can control Borg nanites, they used them to beat species 8472. Also in First Contact the Enterprise rescued the survivors of the Defiant by beaming them up while under fire from the Borg (i.e. beaming through the shields).
I am probably just ignorant because I have never seen this before. But I do know for fact that Star Trek ships have shields. So why is it they are shown not to have any.
watch the ds9 episode sacrifice of angels the producers switched to hull hugging shields instead of the standard bubble shield in order to actually do the scenes they looked exactly like this.
Plus making bubble shields is a pain in the ass. lol
but in this animation they show debree flying off the hull of the star trek ships when any type of weapons fire hits them. The shields should be asbsorbing all that energy and not allow any kind of hull damage, or at least not to the extent shown.
The title star trek vs. babylon 5 is misleading. how about the federation verus
earth alliance. This was an unfair fight to me, I'll explian why... 1st the feds have almost all of their ships in combat, Earth alliance does not. What happen to the Omega Xs, the Warlocks, the Hyperions, the Nova Omegas, the G.O.D., the Shadow Hybrids, and the EA super carriers? 2nd Being out numbered by trek ships with no shields is fair?☼☼☼
the thing i dont get is, why would the Federation be at war with the Earth Alliance in the first place?! shouldnt they be like, oh i dont know, on the same side?! it makes sense... same thing with Galactica. the Feds shouldnt be attacking a race of humans that are trying to get back to a place that they had once left behind! it makes no sense...
In this movie Pirk (;)) is emperor of Earth and they are trying to find new planets to expand and they find alternative universe where is Babylon5-people. Pirk is of course excited about the fact that there is second Earth and he wants to take it
and i agree with both mrexcess and skillerz87. but it would have been very one sided at that point. and for the trek boys who say " what about the shields!!" i say that even with shields the outcome would have been pretty much the same. and before you start to think i am being bias in favor to B5 i should note i am a member of KAG. and we Klingon's give credit where credit is due.
too bad a more "realistic" version would be boring... a couple of million-year-old shadow battlecrabs phase in, in a blaze of purple beam flashes lay waste to the entire federation armada before they can say "red alert", then phase out again with a delighted screech
I said million year old battlecrabs... you know, the ones piloted by the Shadows themselves. I doubt the Federation has any telepaths capable of interfacing with the mind of a Shadow, the oldest and most highly evolved race in the galaxy (not counting Lorien himself), against whom even a Vorlon's mind control powers are useless.
And why exactly would the Shadows bother to do that? They'd be just as likely to fire on B5. Does it hurt when you pull stuff out of your arse like that?
OK EVERYONE!!! If you take the pure science behind each series only one would cleary win, regardless of what ships were present. That's not the point. ROLWHITE, keep up the good work. Any time someone puts in the work to do something like this it is awesome. Good work! Wish I new how to. Don't listen to the negatives. Go out and do some more fan fiction!!! Let your imagination soar. Chris...
Star Trek should have beaten the crap out of B.5. Mostly because this film uses ships in constructed 100 years after the USS Enterprise NCC-1701. It's from the movie "Star Wreck: in the Pirkening". In the movie they explain why the Federations shields don't work in the B5 universe.

Not Comparrison, Star trek would win easily, against Unshielded ships, a Photon Beamed into each ship ends this battle or better yet beam it's entire crew out into space
slickyboy40 2 years ago
Just because B5 ships don't have shields doesn't mean the ships' hulls are not made to withstand attacks. And, with how the B5 universe ships are made, it could block transporter ablities to lock on to a person/persons. I think it would a draw but no one would watch a video like that.
snarkywolf 1 year ago
There is actually no way to know whether a B5 Ship Could Block a Transporter beam as they themselves don't have the technology, Not even the Vorlons, Shadows or the First Ones have that Technology and thus no way to determine if their hulls could block a beam, and even if they could, The federation does have the Ability to destroy an entire Solar System with a Trilithium Protomatter torpedo or them with a Genesis Device, I really don't think B5 would survive.
slickyboy40 1 year ago
The debate is Mute. B5 Technology just don't compare to ST. for one they Have Shields and B5 Don't people kill me making these Videos with no shields on the ST ships. it's no reason for it it's all BS. I love B5 it's one best SCI Fi Shows made but get real 1 Defiant is all it takes to take out the B5 ships period.

Indeed. One question, really. Wtf happened to Quantum Torpedoes? They draw their power from Zero Point Energy for a multi-gigaton (or higher) explosive yield. Nothing unshielded can withstand that kind of detonation. Even the Scimitar in ST: Nemesis took some serious damage from just a couple bursts of Quantum Torps.
fmcc0904 3 years ago
@fmcc0904 this is from space wreck: in the pirkinning which is a parody. if you watch them you would know why they dont use quantum torps (btw those photons are called light balls in the parody :p)
tyedgy 1 year ago
@tyedgy Fascinating, but I've seen all of the Wrecks, to include the cartoony ones. I was speaking in terms of pure series-against-series. B5 wouldn't last 2 minutes, especially if you took the FKR (Federation-Klingon-Romulan Alliance - DS9) to them.
fmcc0904 1 year ago
@fmcc0904 i see
tyedgy 1 year ago
@fmcc0904 Huh? How? The goddang fighters in B5 are the same size and 10x the firepower of a Klingon Bird of Prey! The B5 ships are just way bigger with way more firepower. The average warship in B5 is the size of a Dominion Dreadnaught in Trek!!!!
Zedul 1 year ago
@Zedul Minbari Warcruiser was taken out by few 1-megaton nuclear mines. Shadow ships were taken out by 500 megaton explosions each. Star Trek uses weapons which are rated in gigatons per second for beam weapons and tens of gigatons for torpedoes.
Picard578 1 year ago
@Picard578 Photon torpedoes in Trek are 2.5 to 3 megatons, by DS9 time the Quantum torpedoes are about 8 megatons and the "Chronition" warheads in voyager are about 20 megatons. So the most lethal missile weapons in trek aren't even 1/10th of the yield of the 500 megaton bombs that required multiple hits to destroy the SMALL shadow crabs As far as the one megaton bomb - JMS already pointed out that the nuclear mine that took out the black star was a "fluke" a one out of a million chance.
Zedul 1 year ago
@Zedul Actually, no, in TNG episode "Skin of Evil" you have 500 megaton warhead, plus multi-gigaton one in Voyager episode "Rise".
Picard578 1 year ago
No Trek uses a hocum term called "isotons" and the maximim yield in Voyager is "80 isotons". The rek technical manual states that the torpedo contains only enough antimatter to yield a 64 megaton explosion at MAXIMUM efficiency, and often yields are much lower. In any case you see that these starships in Trek, which are quite SMALL compared to the Babylon 5 ships (even tiny whitestars are bigger than the galaxy class) being able to take multi hits from photons with shields down....
Zedul 1 year ago
@Zedu that manual is overridden by episodes and calculations from episodes put torpedo yields firmly into high megaton/low gigaton range
Picard578 1 year ago
@Picard578 Where? I already stated they do not SAY megaton/gigaton in Trek they say "isoton" which is some mythical term - as a former Trek writer put it "techtalk" written in by people who don't even write the episodes!
Gigatons, seriously? I have seen unshielded trek ships take torpedo hits, do you have ANY idea how much a gigaton is? Those Trek ships are TINY something in the Gigaton range would vaporize a city let alone a tiny starship with paper thin walls and aluminum windows!
Zedul 1 year ago
@Zedul yes I do and I calculated these yields from episodes. And yes, unshielded ST ships can take gigatons, althought with heavy damage.
Picard578 1 year ago
@Picard578 ROFL... Your calculations, are you a physicist?
Then explain to me how a simple dud low yield Klingon photon torpedo UNARMED and go right through an unshielded ship hull like it was plastic and yet that same ship hull could withstand GIGATONS? Not only is it unfeasible your are simply smoking hard core crack!
Zedul 1 year ago
@Zedul Incident in question?
Picard578 1 year ago
@Zedul Most probable explanation is: structural integrity failed in that zone, that same zone had extensive damage, so the Jem'Hadar(JEM HADAR NOT KLINGONS) chose that place to hit. However the photon torpedo had a problem and didn't explode. Tell me, does an almost destroyed in one place tank withstand the force of an unarmed projectile hitting in that same place?no
StelarCF 1 year ago
@Zedul paper thin walls???? aluminium windows??? man you must understand. DURANIUM=a metal alloy(composition unkown, most probably carbon fiber with different inserations) made to resist impacts and whistand phaser blasts, the later using force fields.
The Windows=I doubt that would be very thin, I think that those have some sort of optical illusion.
Also remember that a ship won't really be destroyed until it's engines are down(hard to hit...), command down(again, hard to hit) and warp engines
StelarCF 1 year ago
@StelarCF If you look at the tech specs the hull plating on the B5 ships is roughly 10x thicker et et. of course that is the advantage of having such large ships. I've seen time and time phasers and torpedoes just TEAR trek ships apart as soon as their shields go down. Remember in Wrath of Khan how the little defiant just opened enterprise wide open like a knife gutting a pig when its shields were down? So yea, paper thin.
Zedul 1 year ago
@Zedul I'll end this discution saying this: if a Star Trek starship's walls are paper thin then a battle ships walls are 1 cm wide. That's how I see it
StelarCF 1 year ago
By the way, those photons are going way too slow. In the genre they travel at nearly the speed of light.
jackflak1979 2 years ago
actually there are battles in warp using torpedos to fight each other. Rare and few between but they do exist.
axom20 2 years ago
Yeah your right in start trek they say firing phasers whilst in warp is not possible but i have seen on numerous occasions phasers being fired when the ships are at warp, so i suppose they can be fired now or the creators just forgot they can't do that!!
CHRISTINKER86 2 years ago
while i do think this was VERY well made, it lacks one important fact: Star Fleet ships have SHIELDS!! The damage done to the federation ships could only occur if they had 0 shields. This video, while good, forgets this fact. So yeah, Start Fleet Tech could easily whoop B5 tech. & no, im not taking sides. I love each series for its own charm & style.
VideoWolf69 3 years ago
If you watched the movie this was made from, when the trek ships entered the b5 space, their shields ceased working. The quote was something like "Interesting. Our shields don't seem to work in this parallel universe"
faramir22 3 years ago
And why whould they sheilds not work. if you going do a comparison don't change the facts.
Qugie 3 years ago
In a given parallel universe, there needn't be the same laws of physics; although obviously they can't be too different otherwise the ships might fly apart or something lol

star trek does suck but can own babylon 5 easy
troymarten 3 years ago
Heh, macw04 be real for a second. I realize if you take all of ST's nonsensical use of pseudo-scientific terms at face value then they "explain" their tech. The fact is you can derive the elements of B5's HUMAN tech with simple observation coupled with an understanding of basic physics and tech. Now I'll be the first to say that B5's ALIEN tech is a bunch of Sci-Magic too. *facepalm* And don't even start about ST's sociological elements. It's not complex OR advanced. It's idealist & simplistic.
BoomerTk421 3 years ago
Nah, B5 wins a fight against ST easy. Star Trek isn't a tich more advanced, they just rely on a bunch of Sci-Fi magic, that wouldn't serve them too well in a universe where physics happens to apply. B5 might be "primative" but at least it has some ground to stand on. ;P
BoomerTk421 3 years ago
And what ground would that be? B5 doesn't explain hardly any of its technical abilities. Never once does any of the shows explain what powers their ships in any detail. Star trek goes out of its way to explain its technologies and how they function to better human kind. Not only is Star trek more advanced technologically, but it is more advanced sociologically. Humans in B5 are no more evolved in the 23 century then we are now in the 21 century.

I liked it. I think that star fleet would do a bit better against earth force. I do think the White stars would be a problem, but even they dont really have shields, I don't see them getting past star fleets shields that fast. plus Babylon 5 ships usually seem a lot less resilient in the show.
calimann83 3 years ago
If the Federation went to war with Earthforce, or any other B5 race, they would fine it difficult to get around in hyperspace because in DS9 the Prophets (i.e. wormhole aliens) control hyperspace. In the episode "sacrifice of angel" the prophets made an entire armada of Dominion ships (2800) vanish by perminently stranding them in hyperspace. Any B5 ship that enters hyperspace would be lost forever. And just like the Q the prophets are non-corporal beings, so they can't be hurt by telepaths
macw04 3 years ago
except that the profits control that wormhole, and there is a difference between the wormhole and hyperspace. pulse they only destroyed that Dominion fleet to protect Bajor.
calimann83 3 years ago
Yes there is a difference in that a wormhole has a specific destination whereas traveling through hyperspace you can pick an exit destination, but wormhole travel is through hyperspace, the prophets are not bound just to that particular wormhole. Also the prophets stopped the dominion to protect not just Bajor, but to protect Capt Sisko who was the emissary.
macw04 3 years ago
The Fed ships seemed to do just fine even without their shields, quantum and spatial torpedos. Star fleet ships are not as fragile as most would think, they can take alot of punishment especially with abladive hull armoring that the Fed uses now. It helps dispurse the energy from an impact, something similar to the victory's armor. Still, the star fleet ships obviously fought without their full capabilities in this battle, but I think their agility was their greatest assest in this situation.

nelsonmars 3 years ago
Well, the Federation wouldn't just show up and start firing. But the Earthforce ship would have had Minbari backup and godforbid the Vorlons the battle would have been over. The biggest problem would have been avoiding the blast radius when their Warp Cores lost containment.
sunnchilde 3 years ago
You guys are forgetting that the B5 ships have armor to the tune of 8-10 meters thick. We've seen Federation weapons to have poor performance against armor and hulls in the past. The reliants attack on the unshielded enterpise in the wrath of kahn..the defiants armor was able to sustain many hits from an exelsior class ship ect. B5's omega destroyer is like 1700 meters long. The enterprise D reactor puts out bout 4k terrawatts where the omega can put out 101k terrawatts. They match up well.

That equals 12 destroyed EA ships
macw04 3 years ago
You forgot after the Victory fires its main gun, Voyager »WILL« be destroyed! I go by FACTS eveything I say is facts.(from B5 tech Site) The victory's main gun did destroy a ship 59km long in 1 shot. If you think my facts are imaginary, Then type "Super Quantum Discharge Cannon" on google or go to B5 tech. I know you wont do it.I'm a fan of both shows, but I know pure power when i see it. B5 have planet killers and alot of super weapons. YOUR Torpedoes will get shot down by interceptor cannons.
QuantumNova 3 years ago
In the episode "The Doomsday machine" the constitution enterprise went up against a planet killing machine whose main beam was able to break up a planet. The enterprise was hit with the planetkillers beam with shields up full and while the beam knocked out the shields and the warp drive, the ship still survived the hit and was able to avoid the front of the machine for the rest the episode. The voyager could out-fly the Victory and stay away from it's main gun enough to beam a bomb over.
macw04 3 years ago
The doomsday machines weapon was never seen destroying a planet, so we don't know how long it took to destroy a planet with said weapon.
For all we know it took days maybe weeks to accomplish what it did with it's chain reaction weapon and technobabbel.
The shadows slice through planets faster than that.
blacksun2175 3 years ago
In one of the TNG novels, the doomsday macine was revealed to be a failed prototype anti- Borg weapon. It wasn't evn meant to destroy planets. Both Shadows and Vorlons built machines designed to do exactly that.
It's kinda funny that as soon as a Federation ship's shields go down, it's exploding consoles all over. B5 ships are clearly able to withstand much more of a beating (Whitestars especially so), Trek ships seem to put all their faith in their shields. No shields, no Federation.

and just for good measure.........the Shadows/Vorlons/First ones and Third space aliens wouldn't last 2 seconds against the Q continuum.......one thought from the Q and everything in B5 would cease to exist.........you cannot beat a GOD and that is what Star trek has.
macw04 3 years ago
HAahahaah that was a good joke, Q's can be hurt by psychic beings. The Shadows/Vorlons/First ones and Third space aliens are all extemely powerful psychic beings. Dude get you facts right. Study before you say things like that. The mighty Q has fallen, NOW WHAT? ☼☼☼
QuantumNova 3 years ago
yes i mean EA can't hang with the UFP, cause that is what the video is about, the EA vs star trek, not star trek vs the shadows/vorlons/first ones.....whatever....you B5 EA fans can't handle loosing so you have to start including all the other races into the mix. And as far as REAL SCI-FI fans are concerned Babylon 5 is a minor production that lasted only a few years and with a very small fan base. Star trek has lasted 40 years with Millions of fans, so again, B5 cannot hang with Star Trek
macw04 3 years ago
QuantumNova 3 years ago
I agree, if they include the shadows and vorlons why don't we include the Borg, Species 8472, or even Q?
mythril444 3 years ago
where are the shadows and vorlons again?
d3p3ch3mod3 3 years ago
How about we include V'GER from star trek the motion picture, you know the giant 80mile long, 10 mile tall ship inside the cloud. That ship had a shield greater than all the energy that the sun puts off, and its advanced plasma weapons destroyed anything on contact. That ship alone could destroy.....everything in babylon 5, First ones, third aliens, shadows, vorlons, anything they throw at it would be disintegrated with one shot.
macw04 3 years ago
IN YOUR DREAMS TREKKIE! Did you know that Vorlon planet killer can destroy planets bigger than jupiter? First of all your 80 mile long ship would get blown up INSTANTLY. (not a chance) More power than the sun you say? The VPK has unlimited power (fact). It can destroy anything of any size. Even if your ship was the size of the solar system, it would still get blown up INSTANTLY. Babylon 5 is more powerful than you think. Do a little bit more reading next time...Only Q have a chance at winning.
QuantumNova 3 years ago
You keep saying FACT, but when i look up what a VPK can do all of the information is very contradictory, some say it can destroy a planet in one shot, others say it takes a few shots, ones says that it can shoot multiple times at once, others say it needs a week to recharge. Nowhere has it said that it could blow up a planet as big as jupiter. Nowhere does it say that it can destroy a solar system (actually sounds retarded when you say that). So I don't know where you are getting your FACTS.
macw04 3 years ago
Well it seems that you were looking in all the wrong places.(and im pretty sure you didn't look at all.) My facts come from B5tech. It says "the planet killer can destroy planet of any size." and It says "it uses the infinite power of hyperspace tap." Do you know what infinite power means? Infinite means: it never ends. The vorlons could blow up the whole universe if they wanted to.
QuantumNova 3 years ago
Trust me your little planet killer would have a much tougher time than you think. V'Ger had a giant sensor defecting cloud around it. If a VPK approached it, by the time it figured out where to shoot it would have 100 plasma devices hitting it and disintegrating it. One thing i did read was that the VPK took time to position itself and power up for its shot, by the time it was able to shoot, V'Ger would destroy it along with all it's escorts. Also nothing in B5 can stand up to the Q, NOTHING
macw04 3 years ago

B5 cannot hang with star trek
macw04 3 years ago
You mean Earth Alliance can't hang with star trek (that's a lie). Know this, REAL sci-fi fans will tell you that the Shadows/Vorlons/First Ones/or the Third Space Aliens will Overkill anything star trek throws at them. That is just a FACT. No matter how much you star trek fans whine about it. You can't beat a hundred billion years of tech(babylon5) with a hundred thousand* years of tech (Star Trek). Common sense. Feel free to whine now...
QuantumNova 3 years ago

If you watched the ds9 episode sacrifice of angels you would see the same hull hugging shields on all the ships even the ds9 station.
We've never seen transportation while shields are up.
How is starfleet going to beam over the BORG NANITES?
The nanites would just start assimilating the feds first...that would be stupid on their part.
blacksun2175 3 years ago
You need to watch some more star trek before you say stuff like that....if you'd watched Voyager: you would know that they can control Borg nanites, they used them to beat species 8472. Also in First Contact the Enterprise rescued the survivors of the Defiant by beaming them up while under fire from the Borg (i.e. beaming through the shields).

Nice except the B5 ships would cane the UFP...especially a couple of Minbari cruisers or some Shadow vessells.

what would be cool is to have a large combind
star trek, babylon 5 , star wars, and battlestar galactica fleets engage thier respective enemies in one huge battle
shiningkingghidora 3 years ago
I am probably just ignorant because I have never seen this before. But I do know for fact that Star Trek ships have shields. So why is it they are shown not to have any.
Anciets 3 years ago
watch the ds9 episode sacrifice of angels the producers switched to hull hugging shields instead of the standard bubble shield in order to actually do the scenes they looked exactly like this.
Plus making bubble shields is a pain in the ass. lol
blacksun2175 3 years ago
but in this animation they show debree flying off the hull of the star trek ships when any type of weapons fire hits them. The shields should be asbsorbing all that energy and not allow any kind of hull damage, or at least not to the extent shown.

It is star wreck...not star trek, a pardoy of star trek/B5..
Sorry no United federation of planets..they just use the same class of ships as the UFP.
imacoony 3 years ago
Sweet vid, awesome affects, and the ending was great.........was this fully generated or were the Fed ship imprinted over some other ships from B5?
macw04 3 years ago
This is extremely well put together. Looks like a real big picture.x We now need a star wars Vs Babylon 5 one. :) well done! I keep watching this.
philppineo 3 years ago

Pirk is of course excited about the fact that there is second Earth and he wants to take it

one hell of a fight. one hell of a movie 5*'s!!!
and i agree with both mrexcess and skillerz87. but it would have been very one sided at that point. and for the trek boys who say " what about the shields!!" i say that even with shields the outcome would have been pretty much the same. and before you start to think i am being bias in favor to B5 i should note i am a member of KAG. and we Klingon's give credit where credit is due.
KAPLA!!!
kosh1968 4 years ago
too bad a more "realistic" version would be boring... a couple of million-year-old shadow battlecrabs phase in, in a blaze of purple beam flashes lay waste to the entire federation armada before they can say "red alert", then phase out again with a delighted screech
mrexcess 4 years ago
You're forgetting that the Federation is full of telepathic races. I'm sure they could scrounge up a few to deal with the Shadows.
I'd love to see more videos of this kind with different series. This is fantastic!
LiarNobody 4 years ago
I said million year old battlecrabs... you know, the ones piloted by the Shadows themselves. I doubt the Federation has any telepaths capable of interfacing with the mind of a Shadow, the oldest and most highly evolved race in the galaxy (not counting Lorien himself), against whom even a Vorlon's mind control powers are useless.
mrexcess 4 years ago
And why exactly would the Shadows bother to do that? They'd be just as likely to fire on B5. Does it hurt when you pull stuff out of your arse like that?

LMFAO!!!!
Loved ur comment!! Absolutely fracking brilliant.
htownjesse 3 years ago
OK EVERYONE!!! If you take the pure science behind each series only one would cleary win, regardless of what ships were present. That's not the point. ROLWHITE, keep up the good work. Any time someone puts in the work to do something like this it is awesome. Good work! Wish I new how to. Don't listen to the negatives. Go out and do some more fan fiction!!! Let your imagination soar. Chris...

STAR TREK !!!!! wOOOOOOOO!
RifleMan80 4 years ago
That was only a small federation fleet.
Those who watch Star trek Deep space nine know what i am talking about.
If you want to see a large federation fleet look for 'Sacrafice of Angels' or 'Federation vs Dominion.'
