@FreshAzImis92 Ignore the pain, push yourself harder and harder everyday. If you put forth the effort your drill sergeants will help you get where you need to be. They're there to help you succeed, but they won't help you if you don't help yourself.
@pinoy the airports I went to you checked in with the USO and waited on a bus to take you to the post. This was at St. Louis and Oklahoma City.
When you arrive at the airport, is there a bus waiting for you outside that takes you to the Battlion reception? or you have to take a bus or a taxi to get over there?
@cardsfanstlouis1 yes, you get them returned near the end of basic during family day and graduation. (I went to basic training with the guy in this video)
haha I remember 30th AG like yesterday.. July 2008, I spent 14 days there as well bro. The worst 14 days of my life at the point, hell going down range was nothing compared to the atrocity at 30th AG. I remember the day I shipped out for LAX... woke up a 0430, took a plane at 1400 got to Atlanta around 1800 (including the jet lag and all time zone changes) got to Ft Benning around 2100 and we did not go to sleep until the following day at 2100. I hated life that day haha
If you have any idea, maybe you could tell me what happens if you dont bring or forget your immunization card with you to reception? Do they just give you everything or is there some sort of delay ?
I leave in a week to go to basic. I have a couple tattoos that got a quick once over at MEPS and they said it was no biggie but the guy who checked seemed a little brain dead. One of em is a pin-up girl and although I'm pretty sure it'll be fine, I'm wondering how much time they stress on body checks at reception (tattoos, scars, etc.) Thanks
hey man, leavin tomorrow actually so you might not get a chance to answer this before i leave lol, but anyways, how man shots do they give you in reception?
Hey good luck. It depends on your medical records. You have to have all your immunizations up to date. I got 5 shots in reception. Including the big one you get in your butt.
@FrankfortHigh At the 30th AG at fort benning they didn't take our personal crap until we got to our basic unit.... The DS's had us do a shakedown and took all the stuff we didn't "need"...
what should i wear the day i ship out? i leave next wensday.. tuesday i go to the hotel. it says jeans or slacks on the what to bring list. But that really means i cant wear shorts?
niggerbitchhify its true. my friends over there right now for ariborne infantry and left on tuesday. for 3 days u are awake cause theres i think only 3 civilians doing fitting and what not. i leave january 11 for fort benning and excited but not excited haha hooah.
wow your videos are very helpful.. my fiance just left for basic at fort benning yesterday and i konw nothing about the army so your videos kind of let me know what he will be doing thank you so very much
whys everyone is asking SidersRemixed about BCT when you could be asking your recruiter about this, i mean thats what there for. if you dont have a recruiter i recommend contacting one, at first you may be nervous talking to a recruiter but after a few calls and face to face interaction you'll be good friends. bit of advice to future soldiers and inspiring future soldiers, once you get a ship date take advantage of the time before you shipout to work and improve on your weaknesses.
im heading to fort benning august 3rd for basic and ait. you said they take your clothes and make you wear uniforms. do they let you keep your running shoes? do they give your clothes back at the end of ait?
I'm never been nor am i ever going to basic training lol. but my boyfriend just left for fort benning yesterday. i was just wondering... does time go by fast while you're there? and do you have any suggestions to help me get through, possibly, the longest 10 weeks of my life so far? lol
and what made it easier for you to get through the 10 weeks?
@dzphithetakappa Hi, we both have something in common. My BF just shipped out for Fort Benning today. I have a bit of a wait, about 14 weeks...yes, these days are going by really fast. If I could give you some advice, keep yourself as busy as possible. The time passes on quickly, and its okay to be worried.
And yes, he was extremely nervous, but excited at the same time to be going into the army. Trust me, this is one of the best things our BFs are doing.
hey man i enjoyed the video, i leave may 17th to benning and my nerves are starting to get the best of me. what all medical stuff will i do at reception is it pretty much the full physical again that i did at MEPS
i had a question about reception, this that where you receive your prescription eyewhere? such as your "no sex" glasses? haha id appreciate if you could hit me back, i leave the 28th of this month to fort benning, thanks
great video, i signed up as a 68w and head to bct on april 28th, ive heard a lot of rumors as to what basic is like, but your video helped me out a lot, thanks brotha
Fuck 30th AG. Anyone enlisting and thinking "I'm badass i signed some papers now i'm in the army, I ship out (whenever)" You i'm speaking directly at you, you know shit and you will get a crash course at 30th.
damn dude relax. Ok you're so much better then everyone who hasn't gone through BCT yet. Calm yourself, that sense of superiority only makes you look like a douche.
Not trying to be better just warning I saw kids back then with that mentality of " i'm going to basic training someone shake my hand for enlisting" just vying for the attention. Upon arriving crying and begging to see the chaplain wanting to see their mothers. Again it's just a warning.
I think you're confusing a sense of pride and excitement for "i'm a bad ass". Fuck i let everyone i know that i signed some papers and i wouldnt mind a hand shake. I dont see a real problem here. lol but i'm sure you're right, i'm betting there are going to be some who will take it worse then others. I myself am worried about being away from my daughter and wife for 6 months. Anyway thanks for the warning but i dont think what you're talking about is the typical experience in BCT.
Are you infantry? Fort Benning is all Infantry except for one regiment which trains non combat arms. That's what this guy is. At least i'm pretty sure. So his training most likely wasn't anything like that of the Infantry recruits.
no i wish. Promised my wife i'd do the least dangerous job i could find. I'll basically be fixing broken generators and installing air ventilation in broken/new buildings in Iraq. Not the most glamorous job but i guess someones got to do it. Plus when i get out i want a job skill other then killing lol. I'm over the whole Pog mentality. What are you?
enlisted as 11x infantry! lol 2 of my best friends are infantry and they went to Benning. That's what i'm going off of lol. Ya but that's smart man, easy transition back into the civilian world when you're done. i'm young and stupid (or reckless i like to say) so ya i'm doing infantry. But i have plans for after the army using the GI Bill. Good luck man.
This sucks! I wanted to be a fucking marine but for some reason they dont accept my college credits so ya I joined the army infantry. Leave on Feb 2nd.
For the most part you'll be actively engaged in training. Whether it be combat training or just getting smoked. Sundays will be your days for chill time.
@SidersRemixed Where did you leave from to go to basic? I'll be shipping out from Chicago MEPS here in Illinios so im thinkin i'll be flown most of the way there.
Do NOT bring alot of shit. I just brought the clothes on my back. Also bring toiletries (or you will have to buy your own). Bring NEW running shoes or you'll have to buy them there. Bring STAMPS and writing stuff. Also bring your cellphone. They'll take it away but you'll be able to make calls periodically on it. Bring your bank cards and important paperwork. Hope that helps.
ROTC you'll have to do LDAC which is sorta like BCT for future officers. I think you'll also have to go through OBC (Officer Basic Course) after you get commissioned. Congrats on your decision. Aim for a 300+ on the Army APFT. Getting a high PT score will help earn your men's respect as a new officer.
Thank you for your service. HOOAH. Im doing Army ROTC this August and I cant wait. Im fit enough for BCT I think. 7:03-7:30 mile, 50 push ups and 50 situps.
Florida Institute of Technology. Im not sure how hard ROTC is compared to BCT but Im trying to get in shape for the 2 mile run and pushups and situps.
Great info, I leave for BCT in 2 weeks and I did not know what to expect, thanks for the advice
