  • Every time I hear Vince sing, I am convinced that that is what the Angels in heaven sound like when they sing.

  • I was in Nashville that dreadful day. We saw alot of activity in the morning at the Ryman Auditorium. When we asked a security guard what was happening, he said that then Presidential candidate John Edwards was going to have a political rally later in the afternoon. As the shooting events unfolded in Vicksburg, upon our return to the Ryman, we were told this would be a memorial service. You will note that I am the last person to go on stage.

  • Absolutely outstanding!!!! Good gracious Vince Gill gets me every time. What a stand up man he is. Respect...

  • By far the best country voice in the world....Keep up the Gr8 work Vince...God Bless...Greg

  • Damn, He gets me every time. I love this guy.... I truly do..and I'm 6'4 260 lbs of rednecked hillbilly, but I have to say Vinny is so blessed with pipes sent straight from God allmighty down to all of us..I used to cover this song, and although I'm not vince, I remember seeing a couple of ladies in the crowd whowere crying as I poured it out..since that time I can't sing this song or hear it sung without sobbing like a baby.unbelievable..just unreal..thanks Vince Gill. You sir are the real deal

  • The video is not the best, however the message in the song is the main thing here. Vince is one heck of a performer. The words of this song is so powerful. If I am not mistaking, Vince was writing this song when his brother died. I have heard this song time and time again, and it never gets old. It still brings a tear to my eye. This song was played at my dads funeral also. Vince, you have a talent in your songs and in the way you deliver.

  • Vince Gill is the Greatest Ever...

  • How I wish you would have been allowed to have information about this video to share b4 reading your reply above. I wish they would have allowed you a tripod for steadier focus because (I AM NOT COMPLAINING,just want to make that clear)cuz this is a beautiful song and from what I've read here, for a TREMENDOUS cause. Even if the general public didn't have access, it would have been nice if the VT families could have had a DVD or something to hopefully give them some of the closure they deserve.

  • Hi,

I wish I had had a tripod, too. Remember, when I went there, I thought I was doing an interview...a short one, so I didn't bring one.

Believe me, as a filmmaker, it breaks my heart that it's so shaky. But the VT incident breaks my heart more, I thought it was important to capture this event for history and for VT and especially for the families who lost loved ones.

I did the best I Could with the best of intentions--donating it to VT.

  • I personally think you did a great job especially considering it was a last minute thing. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Hi sapilgrim2299--Thank you! I did the best I could and the folks at Virginia Tech loved it, so that's all that really matters...that I was in the right place at the right time and didn't/wouldn't profit from it and gave the video to VT to use as they want, a of course, share it with all of you! :)

Vinnie (Vince) is amazing when he opens his mouth to sing, and this song is magical.

  • My husband just passed on April 15 and a good friend of mine learned the song with her husband in one day he played it on the guitar and she sang it there was not a dry eye in the chapel thanks vince for so understanding our sorrow. southernlady

  • u know this is what i love about country music - the singers sound exactly as they do on the radio - they don't have technology fix thier voices like some other music do - a beautiful song!

  • My pleasure...to be able to share this with all of you.

I had gotten permission to film at the Ryman earlier that day, for what was supposed to be a political event for Edwards. When that was canceled, they called for a quiet healing service, and I guess the rest of the media didn't want to cover that, so as far as I know, I'm the only one with footage of the event. (Which I donated the entire show to Virginia Tech for them to use as they want)

  • This is wonderful. He is pouring his heart out for these people. I love this song. It came out the year my son died. God Bless Vince Gill always! Thank you. Sandy

  • Thanking for sharing this video. God bless all the people that are missing loved ones this Christmas.

  • God Bless you Vince Gill.
