ive rode the cyclone 5 months ago i nearly shitted my pants, if u rode this have u ever thought to urself? okokokokokookokk...... where almost there dududududud stop hey why is it stop_AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
man!! i was there on the summer (im from México) & when i saw it! i felt in love with it, in the video doesn't look that scary, but believe me when i say.... ur gonna die!! LOL
I use to so love the cyclone at southport wish some one would build a replacement it was one of my top vert coaster and it was only 20 mint drive I still miss it to this day
ill say this i been alot of places on alot of roller coaster from nyc to as far as canada and no matter how advanced the technology has gotten the cyclone remains one of the best coaster of all time i just think they should restore it some what and thats all
I'm 14 and so far, I rode It about 15 times, 4 times yesterday. Yesterday, I had my hands up through the whole ride. It's freaking fun but It hurts. I'm so skinny I almost fell out of the car. My parents rode this like 100 times.
In 1955 I rode the front seat in front car 17 times in a row . Back in the day if you wanted a re ride you could stay in your seat and after paying .50 you went again .
In 1955 I rode the front seat in front car 17 times in a row . Back in the day if you wanted a re ride you could stay in your seat and after paying .50 you went again .
I can bet anyone that this is the Scariest rollercoaster you wil ever go on lol ... I have been on it and it feels like its gonna fall apart -- but it goes like 60 mph
Anyone who thinks The Cyclone is a wimpy or baby ride hasn't ridden it. It's not like the modern smooth ones, where you're belted in five different ways. You have a lap bar, that's it. It's not smooth, you're jerked around every which way the entire ride, and that first drop? I challenge you do go down it quietly.
It doesn't hurt too bad. I did scream on the first drop but you shud try the Great American Scream Machine. You're bones will hurt! Not trying to argue here.
If i were to nitpick, my only complaint is that this video doesn't demonstrate the slow and torturous climb up the first hill--that's when you begin to realize there's no turning back. Best ride ever!
I love the Cyclone! What an awesome roller coaster. Not to mention the scare factor from going that fast on something 80 years old made from wood and steel.
*sighs* I remember this ride..I went on it for my birthday and it was really fast xD..But i will miss coney island because they closing it..i will miss the rides, food, beach and mostly the Cyclone. R.I.P Coney Island v.v..
@funnydude911911 it hit my arm and leg and i think Im gonna go to the hospital for my knee because it hurts real bad amd the first turn is very not expected.
Roughest coaster ever. I thought I was going to die. And I've been on Psyclone at Six Flags Magic Mountain, and the original Cyclone was worse than that.
Just took my daughter on the cyclone for the first time, Hershey park coasters are soo much better.Cyclone is $8.00 to ride that is crazy!!!!But at least she can say she rode the cyclone
omg i went on that ride and i almost fell off ! when u put your hands up it's scary ! btw i put my hands up and they felt like they were going to fly off
Listen all of you New York People In Santa monica Venice Ocean Park they had this wonderful stuff now it is all memories. Just like good oldies on KRTH Now Everything is gone and on KRTH Wat too much Disco Music.
Save Coney Island We need Land Marks Not memories of these wonderful places Save them
I can't believe it's been nearly eight yaers since I rode this (i'm originallly from St. Louis). Went to the east coast and i HAD to ride this ride. Man that first hill doesn't look that much, but when you're ON it...
The Cyclone was my first real roller coaster experience when I was eleven-and-a-half. I didn't count the Monster Mouse at Rye Playland which I rode a month before. When I first rode the Cyclone I immediately fell in love with it. My last ride on it was back in 2005 (when I was 48)!!!!
Does anybody have footage of the Palisades Amusement Park Cyclone? I rode that when I was 12. The first descent and ensuing uphill were different from Coney Island's but it was a beaut!
I first rode the Coney Island Cyclone when I was eleven-and-a-half. It was my "initiation" to roller coasters and I loved it immediately. (Before that my only other roller coaster was the Monster Mouse at Rye Playland but of course it wasn't on the same scale as the Cyclone.) I also loved the Cyclone at Palisades Amusement Park but alas I rode it only once.
i went on this alone around 1993. never do it caus you slide from one side of the carriage to the other. brilliant ride despite being wooden. Recommended
That first left turn is something else. Been on many coasters before the Cyclone, but never had a sensation like that turn before. Felt like we were going to fly off the tracks. Had to stay on for a second ride :)
It's great when you can mix history, fear, and thrills!
awesome stevesolo1! i agree with your comment. my first time on it was in may this year! felt like i was gonna fly off and fall out! hope to see the london eye next year, no coaster but must be a awesome nonetheless.
long live the cyclone! great video can even hear the jacking and creaking!
8/9/08--took my friend, charlie, for his first time. he held his hands in the air; i held on for dear life(my 20th time, or so). coaster-gasms all around! haha
Absolutely right. I only have to pay $2 for a ride on the subway there, but otherwise, I feel exactly the same. That's why wood is so much better than metal.
Well, it's definitely up there in the top ten roller coasters just for being so historic and terrifying. But at some point, you have to give the modern coasters some praise. El Toro is steeper, faster, and gives way more airtime than this, but what the Cyclone lacks in sheer force it makes up for with the feeling you might not get off alive.

Rode the Cyclone On June 26th 2007 - 80 years to the day
it opened.. Spent a fortune transporting the family from
London to Coney Island for the sake of this Coaster Legend !! - VERDICT By far the best Coaster in the World...
Forget modern Coasters - You can't build Character - and sheer 'unsafe terror !!'
