i made a new world in 1.2.3, and build a house in the marsh. explored around a few meter away there was a pit with a cave in it. Going deeper in the cave i found brick wall and there it was, a strongold barely a few meter from where i decided to settle in. Found spawners of zombies and 1 spawner of silver fish in a weird demonic altar with lava. Also found through corridors a regular dungeon with spawner and 2 chest like always.

@Gamasix that place where the silverfish spawner was is the end portal. if u put an eye of ender in each of those wierd blocks, by right clicking, then you can go into the end
