  • Thanks dude.!!! :)

    I love your tutorials.! ;)

You are a true master on Parkour&Freerunning.! /rock/

  • I always do a front flip land in the safety tap and walk like a monkey xd

  • I safety tap all the fucking time.

  • What shoes do you use?

  • he is awesome i wish i could do that

  • hey look it is Ezio from assassins creed

  • I learned this instnctively as a child!

  • Don't bend your knees more than 90 degrees when doing this, it defeats the overall purpose, jacks up your flow, and kills your knees!!

  • He bends his knees too much

  • If you skip to 1:20 in the new heights video response, I use a variation of this that works well to absorb impact :D

  • I don't mean disrespect. I can see you train well, but! How is this a new technique or something that has to be taught? What's next? A how to bend your legs tutorial?

  • Seems I'm late to the party, but it is pretty depressing if you feel a tutorial is required for a natural human reaction to the floor heading towards face to quickly.

I saw someone mentioning the 90 degree rule as well I thought people had moved past bullshit like that these days, the 90 degree point is where your knees are structurally at their weakest why would you want to stop there!? ( not aimed at anyone as I don't know who said it)

  • do it because the pros do it ok..

  • WRONG. WRONG. WRONG.

  • you don't get it do you, you fucking idiot

  • @StorrorBlog care to explain why hes a fuckin idiot and why youre so mad? theres nothing wrong with what he said. if it helps him wiht his saftey whats the proublem??

  • @Johnyhammersticks

I can't speak for storror, but I imagine the criticism is that this is just called landing everywhere else.

Having said that UF used to call this landing a safety tap back in the day as well.

No idea about the anger though lol

  • @thepantherx12 oh i didnt read the info, but they dont even EZ anymore so if anything theyd like it. Maybe they just have to keep their retarded "im a little prick" image they made past videos. by the way you can condition yourself so you dont have to roll like Misha and I. BUT hes way better

  • @Johnyhammersticks

There's a lot of people who've said that over the years, but rolling is always a good idea unless you don't have the room to roll.

I used to think ( back in the day) that my landings were good enough to not roll from, turns out it was wrong and I damaged the medial portion of my knee cartilage as well as the ligaments in that area. LULZ.

In all seriousness though better safe than sorry.

  • @thepantherx12 right, does the matter change if you cant do barefoot without no pain/discomfort?? i dont take alot of drops i just kinda forgot about the rolls because i couldnt stop bruising myself

  • @StorrorBlog ? Who doesn't get what?

  • hey epic, your so amazing that i was woundering

do you teach ppeople at some pleace?

  • what shoess are those

  • i love the music:))

  • i have learnt to land with one foot in front of the other, IF you are going to continue running on but if not land both next to each other

  • I love the song :D

  • I did this even before I knew it was a technique, its just natural to slam ur palms AFTER u land with the ball of ur foot, yeh a roll could've been better but I'm still practicing. Once I kinda hit my palm like just as my feet hit and man did it hurt!!!! I dont know why my palms came doing so fast

  • i dont think a tutorial is necessary for this, its just natural that u place ur hands down after a drop if ur not going to roll, the forward momentum practically forces u to put ur hands down

  • i thought this was gonna be something new i didn't know but it wasnt. im just glad i've been doing this naturally. Thanks a whole lot man, ive watched a few tutorials of yours and have to say, u r Epic!!! :)

  • hey epic, how tall are you? just wonderin

  • yo Epic how many feet do you say i dont need to do a roll cuz ive been doing rolls more often

  • Comment removed

  • I was at the park yesterday doing parkour, I do that just as an instinct and it really helps... thumbs up!!!!

  • so it's kind of like a frog landing, but your feet are together and your hands apart?

  • It's a very useful little technique but DON'T use it for over rotating front flips lol, I did a couple of times and have really done in my wrists. ROLL! Ah well... ye live n learn!

  • @maverick040690 yeah lol my first instinct when i see the ground coming out of a front is to tuck my head and get my arms ready to roll

  • I was like "oooooh safety tap, ive never heard of this" then i was like ooooh.

  • When i teach people i call this the 4 point landing :) and yea it really helps. props for finding this on your own.

  • good tutorial

  • i tought this was a common reaction?

  • @doommic maybe.. but I thought it was common knowledge that you can boil water in paper

or tell when good weather is coming by cirrus clouds...

but isn't it nice that videos are there in case people don't know? :)

  • @doommic o_0 I know, I've been softening my landings like this everytime I jumped over a certain height! I'm subbing.

  • This definitely isn't something you learn its called common sense

  • @LukeHurrell

A lot of parkour beginners have no common sense

although i feel like if they can locate this video they might have enough common sense to figure out this technique lol

  • @pkgrip Even if i didn't do parkour I know as a fact i would put my hands down if i was falling, it has nothing to do whether you are new its just something you learn in life. anyone that doesn't put their hands out if they are taking a drop or falling are just idiots.

  • @LukeHurrell you're wrong... no one is stupid. And you'd be amazed at how many people don't know this technique... I DIDNT KNOW THIS TECHNIQUE until I saw it on a vid. There's an eye opener for ya. =P

  • @Epic1 Aha! skinner.

This is definately not an eye opener just a head shaker.

  • @LukeHurrell those who have the responsibility to understand, can understand...

  • @Epic1 And those that have common sense will understand that you are an idiot and very deluded

  • @LukeHurrell and a cunt.

  • @Epic1 and also maybe if you learned this earlier you wouldn't have bad knees.

  • @LukeHurrell I hear you there!! =))) ahahahaha =PP

  • how old are you dude, i mean like you only look about 23 or something, lol.and how long have you been doing freerunning? and one last thing, i recently re-tore my ATFL in my right ankle and have to get surgery for it soon but i dont want to stop doing free running, any way to save my sanity?

  • @Freerunnah420 Indulge in some yoga my friend... it's soooo great for the soul. I may be doing so myself here soon cuz my knees are giving out.

  • @Epic1

alright ill see if i can do that then, and good luck with your knee problems

  • the last part was the coolest moves from Epic.. HAHA! =D

  • Wow, very entertaining. Just curious, what do you do to keep your knees, joints, and cartilage healthy? Diet, stretching, supplements? Very cool tutorial.

  • @tarantarans i take glucosamine tablets with chondroitin... and i excercise the muscles around the joints. Funny thing is a trampoline is going to save my knees. But... only for so long. -lolz-

  • hey kyle i was wondering if you could do a cool trick ive thought about....

  • whats the song?

  • A great way to help put strength in ur wrists is to stretch them, that can help prevent

from hurting them, just constantly stretching them

i doit cause iv injured my wrists from skateboarding

but know that im into parkour, i need to keep them strong and stretching them

has been the #1 solution for me

hope u guys stretch out those wrists!!!

  • It comes naturally anyway

    Don't you think?

  • @yazanarar that is true but always to have it in mind

  • any one else notice the epic "stay positive" bracelet? awesome, want one of my own

  • @UrbanSpiritsPR I did too! I asked him where he got it, and he said from a friend. I found them on amazon for like $6. I ordered one without delay.

  • Comment removed

  • so the safety tap is basically bending your knees, instead of slamking into the ground with stiff legs?

  • what kinda shoes u wearin Epic?

  • @food4ever981 the K-O's, dude! :D he has a vid bout them once u enter his utube page ;)

  • Can someone Message me the name of the Song please?!?

  • Why do your ko's look softer than mine? lol

  • hey dude it was a very helpful tutorial

  • I think it's epic.

  • Could anybody tell me what the 90 degree rule is?

  • @GSFCarlJ I explain it in more distant comments.

  • @Epic1 Found it, thanks. I think maybe that rule is subjective to how strong your knees are. I'm no pro. Just a thought.

  • @GSFCarlJ it's total bullshit that's what it is.

  • @GSFCarlJ It's the rule that your knees won't bend more than 90 degrees. So your upper leg and lower leg always have 90 degrees or more in between them :)

  • Where can I get a stay positive wristband like yours?

  • @Jonnypcakes Not sure... a buddy of mine got it for me, but there are bracelets online you can order im sure.

  • you are a wanker aren't you!

  • next time make a tutorial on how to walk

  • @tomipranjic If you can't walk... you must be a cripple. =D

  • @Epic1 i didn't said i can't walk, can't you read

  • @tomipranjic hahahaha so quick to resort to negativity... I was merely indulging in your sarcasm with some humor. It seems you have some social skills to develop. ^___^

  • @Epic1 don't need to use humor in your comments, it's enough in this video

  • @Epic1 you don't need to use 'humor' in your comments man, it's enough in this video

  • i freakin' love your tutorials, and outlook. keep up the good work. =)

  • ha I've been doing that move since like age 5 jumping off slides at the park.

  • I want one of those stay positive wristbands :P

  • So much love for your channel

  • Awesome music! : D One of your origianls? ^.^

  • Epic, you sir, are a wise man AND you are actually there to answer questions, you don't belittle anyone's thoughts, and you give your thoughts as opinion opposed to some people giving their thoughts as fact.. I applaud you for your positive role model/ leadership in the PK community, you deserve it. "Epic" suits you...Train safe man!

  • i'm not hugely a follower of 90 degree rule, the only thing i'd say is that with these landings, make sure you dont use the entirity of your squatings range....which could result in 'bouncing' at the bottom of the crouch and causing serious damage. so by purposefully not using your entire range you help protect yourself from excessive muscle and more importantly, tendon strain. it also gives you a fighting chance if a drop turns out to be higher than though, or more impact.

  • Glad to see the weather is back on track for you over there :)

  • i love the sound !!!

    xD

  • well ,i learned something again :)

i just thought this was a move called like "landing with your hands used"

or sth. and you just do it when you cant roll properly, thanks for remembering me how to do it right and giving it a name too ( ;D ).

but what i REALLY like about this video is how effortless you get that wall up done :)

it always looks like it was extremely hard to do,when i do the wall up :D

sorry for my bad english, and thank you from germany! :)

    -vince

  • whats the 90 degree rule

  • You realize you ARE the American Daniel Ilabaca right?

  • @RueMyView haha

  • @RueMyView hahahaha

  • whats the 90 rule?

  • .... putting your hands on the ground to catch your fall

  • You didnt tap the last landing after saying stay positive :(

  • I used to think you were Epic, then you made this tutorial. This is common sense really; if you're leaning slightly forward but with not enough momentum to actually roll, you will naturally catch yourself with your hands. Did you make this because of popular demand?

  • @JustElijah No I made this because some beginners do not yet know. Keep in mind I have people of many levels who watch my channel.

  • @Epic1 I understand that, but it seemed like you tried to make common sense, something a lot more than just common sense. If you were making a tutorial for beginners; it would be better for you to explain landing in general, as well as rolling and this hot new trick of yours. Instead you did a load of cool flips and vaults; then touched the ground where you needed to, when you didn't need to, and when you should've rolled. Training safety taps for everything is not good, but you never said that.

  • @Epic1 I usually have my arms on the outside of my legs to avoid kneeing myself in the face, but you seem to have them on the inside. I don't think it really matters... but is there any difference?

  • @Momentimum oops, I mean vice verse. My arms go inside. Yours are outside.

  • @Epic1 Can the Safety Tap be used in the same areas as you would use a roll? ( same height ) or is is just for a smaller landing?

  • @JustElijah You have 0 videos. Enough said.

  • @vvti713 Neither does your mum. Say no more.

  • @JustElijah HEY! Stay Positive! >=(

  • @Epic1 IT'S THE TRUTH!! Why didn't you say it to Mr. vvti713 then, or was his comment positive? Scrap that, get off my case rudeboy. Stop trying to limit my free speech. I think everybody being positive on your page, has resulted in you calling this showcase of flips and vaults; a tutorial for touching the ground!! A tutorial for touching the ground!! You clearly do not realise how ridiculous this is, so I'll leave you to your business.

  • @JustElijah I am not trying to limit your free speech, I simply suggest that you use that energy for something more positive. You could have ignored his comment but you decided to step in anyways didn't you? And now because you are disappointed in me addressing your unnecessary behavior you criticize me? No one likes to be angry, upset or disappointed, so why would you attempt to cause more of that? STAY... POSITIVE!

  • @JustElijah

I like this tutorial, not because I needed this,

But because a few new people I've worked with train have tried NOT rolling and they

try running right when they land, so their body isn't taking the force of their landing

like it should, making Parkour SAFER!

This Video is awesome, NUFF SAID! :D

  • @anguish12 First and foremost, yo mama! Number b, why are you telling me this? Am I the one who made this video, for you to be giving me feedback? Letter 4, I did not address you, so piss off yer twat.

  • @JustElijah Such negativity IS NOT NECESSARY!! Why would even enjoy resorting to such unnecessary aggression?!? Because he stood up for what he believed?? If so, then what do you stand for?

  • @Epic1 I stand for myself; so if you can't stand me, I suggest that you sit down. I'm not at all aggressive, I find it hard to take myself seriously when I read what I wrote; but you clearly see it as a threat of some sort. The negativity is coming from friction, which only arrived from confrontation; in the forms of random people feeling the need to address what I said subjectively. Although I was not addressing them. That "vvti713" guy made an unnecessary point too. Go tell him to be positive.

  • @JustElijah Sounds a bit selfish. Wouldn't you agree? ^__^ ahhahaha

  • @Epic1 No, you're just targetting me and being a dickhead. Take no offence though, being a dickhead's cool.

  • @JustElijah Indeed. I see you post a lot in my videos but I'm disappointed you wouldn't know me better or at least practice the things that I say. I think you'll be fine once you find balance. =D

  • @Epic1 I've been doing the safety tap long before it was given that name.

  • Stay negative.

  • hey epic how much is a qbo sir??

  • I bet following your own advice makes you a lot better too :P

  • @Swizzle62 It is but the hardest thing I have ever done was practice what I preach and take other's preachings into consideration.

  • yo wat song is tht?

  • Loving this comedy channel. I love it how you just rip it out of "parkour" people who believe they have seen "the light" and can philosophise the most basic thing and so they chat shit just to sound cool. And then this tutorial spoof is amazing!! Its classic coz people actually do tutorials on this type of basic stuff lol

    Keep up the good work

  • @03jwhitelegg Have you watched @freddiew 's new vid on trolls?

  • @03jwhitelegg Thank you for understanding. =D

  • @03jwhitelegg it's funny because it's not a spoof har har!

  • @03jwhitelegg I am pretty sure this is not a comedy channel. Am taking this comment of yours out of context, but this guy in the video is being pretty serious. A total beginner, who has never tried any kind of parkour movement before, could definitely need to know this technique. You might learn it from trial and error after awhile, but direction when you are a beginner is important.

  • I call this "Landing"...

  • YEY!!! i think this is my fav epic song made yet.

  • so fluid im speechless

  • You can see safety taps at 1:54 and 2:57 in the video I've attached!

  • i've been doing move mostly instead of rolls and i never knew the name

  • Nice.. There should be more Tutorials like this. So that beginners train more safely .. thats the most important thing.

  • Yea, I can't believe people still believe in the 90 degree stuff. What's that, a quarter squat? How about some people catching 200 kg in full squat position when they do olympic lifts?

Landing safely is about mobility and strength. Flexible ankles + flexible and strong hips = bulletproof knees.

  • @Krpi DAMN RIGHT, a thousand thumbs up for you

  • @Epic1

    Cheers man.

In my opinion you could just remove the 90 degree thinga from the video, now we have all these less informed people asking about it. Or you could replace it with something about mobility and having strength and stability in the bottom position.

  • AWESOME!! This was posted on my birthday!! ;))

Nice tip. I am already practising for the summe!

    Stay Positive!

    -Jani

  • Lol i knew this move since spiderman got out.

  • bro r uat usf? i was just on top of the parking garage and it has the same auning and look?

  • hahaha, it also transforms "boys and girls" into "girls bob" (that's right, bOb, not boob) lol)) love youtube translate)

  • lool, youtube translate transforms "stay positive" to "can't deposit"))

  • Haha nice KOs :D

  • hey epic what should you wear that helps you not hurt your body parts like whists and ankles?

  • @JoshCroall simply stretch man....

  • @JoshCroall Condistion your joint muscles aswell. Don't underestermate a good strength work out, and don't Always do big high impact moves, work on the small stuff aswell. I used to only do the big stuff and it busted my unkle and my knees play up alittle, so now im making sure im stronger with my joins and not always going for the big stuff.

  • this was a move?????

  • @zonkara any movement, is a move. =)

  • did you get new shoes dude? your KO's were wasted last time i saw them

  • @kurei2001 yup...

  • the song is peacefulll ahhhhhhhh~~~ nice one epic

  • Good brother:) here in Guardian Art we use the old school name frog stretch...lol

  • Co za asy...

  • hey you kinda look like Daniel Illibaca.

  • hey epic is that a NEW pair of KOs? lmao

  • What exactly is the 90 degree rule?

  • @Taekwonler Some believe that if you bend ur knees upon landing past 90º that you are causing stress to your knees and other joints. I believe that it's complete bullshyt, because the more flexbile you become the more comfortable going lower feels and allows the landing to take more time..

  • safety tap-

sounds like something you do when

you don't wanna give your girl a cooch contusion -_-

  • @yhtrow1 haHAhaHAhaHAhhAHahAHahAHaah

  • thats just unfair. how is all the snow gone there???

  • Thank You so much for this tutorial!! I dont like rolling on concrete because I dont have much muscle to cushion my rolls so this tap would feel more comfortable.

  • @DragonWarrior7771 I'm glad you like this!! Just keep in mind it's good to have a roll too. Don't be afraid to practice rolls on concrete, i know it may be a little funky, but get acquainted with the ground and work your way up to be more fluid. FEEL the ground, let it guide you... feel your back, let it guide you.

  • I use that. Alot with my jumps. I just don't like rolling from a height. I always hit my back to hard...

  • @RaceFord777 My dear apprentice Race, you must master your rolls!!!

  • @Epic1 I mustn't! I always screw it up Lol
