  • DUJA SLAUNA BRAVO DA HRANITI VAS GASPODI AMINI!

  • The beard thing it has the roots in the Old Testament. While will not save you from your sins,it comes from what was called The Nazareneean Creed. In those days, you could choose (not mandatory), to let your beard and hair grow (see Samson who was part of tha Nazareneean sect). To date, many orthodox churches, confuses that free decision with a standard ,required act of obedience before God. Obedience,is in our hearts, not in our look.

Bible: God looks at the heart, but man looks at the face.

  • Nothing is "mandatory". The whole Christian life is built around your free choice. Holy Fathers (and you can look this up yourself) demanded that men would not trim their beards. This is also reflected in the holy canons (see, for instance, the book of Matthew Blastares, which quotes different passages from the Ecumenical and Local Councils).... not only for the priests but also for the laity.

  • It is true however that the shaving of beards is part of "piety" but so are many other things. Sure, it is not dogmatic and you or Church does not become heretical when those things are not kept. Nevertheless we must strive to abandon worldly habbits. This is exactly what Old Believers try to do. Thus, I cannot speak for others who call themselves Christians, As holy matryr Habbakuk (Avvakum) once said: "Forgive me that I scold on you, brothers-nikoniates, do as you wish". It is a free choice.

  • Every one has his ways to find the purity and wisdom of God. If someone think that the beard is the think that will save him is ok. Is not ok from my point of view to tell to other that he will not be saved without beard. The cannon of our church has been made by peoples, in a specific period of time, when mentaly ill where persecuted thinking that they are possessed. Everyone will be saved from evil. Everyone who really want it. We should stick together and see the good parts of our kind.

  • Canons were made by the Holy Fathers, not just simple people, to be kept and preserved. Such understanding of canons and Holy Tradition is the reason why the Churches are separated to this day. I'm not talking about being saved or not, I am talking about the fact that the man without a beard is like a man without his...ehem.

  • yes, you are whrite! just like St Gheorghie, Dimitrie, razboiniki so on...?????

all we have to do is make good things and let go the theory that splits us!

the beard wont save you from your sins!

  • I am a Yedinoverets, so Im not in schism. Beard won't save you from your sins but the Holy Fathers tell men to have beards. Even New Rite saints such as Nicodemus the Hageorite tell men not to shave.

  • I beleive in Jesus, and i did not find anything about the beard!

But everyone has his ways to belive in what they want! Jesus love everyone with or without beard, All we have to do is returning this love with good things and honesty

  • Jesus said "I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it". By the cannons of our church, a man must have a beard. A beardless men were not allowed into monasteries even.

  • wow...almost all are clean-shaven...sad
