  • ssssso amazing

  • ...some time. Trust me when i say that nothing in the world could make me feel better than this right now. The sound, the groove and the outstanding showmanship of mr. Lindley just blows me away!! Thanks for putting this heroic piece of art up, you deserve a goldmedal! All the best. -Al Mo- Alanya, Turkey.

  • Merhaba brothers and sisters! I'm stuck in this turkish resort with nuttin but autotuned eurodisco and such. ( which of course has it's place in the musical spectrum, don't get

me wrong...it's not just for me. ) I've had quite a rough nite due to bad food, so I decided to chill out in the hotel lobby, which has good airconditioning and a descent WiFi-connection. Happen to stumble over this heroic performance and likewise heroic documentation, which I realize has been up on the Tube for quite s

  • wow, I used to live in Piercy, 32 years ago! Been to the Garberville theater many times for movies only. You could bring your own popcorn and goodies into the movie!

  • wow is this Garberville Ca? I grew up there!

  • @stopsigngirl yes this is Garberville California. The old movie theater.

  • @wavydavey I feel so proud to work there now

  • This vid actually has a very good audio track! Really gives the "leathery" feel of the wiesenborn. I still think his solo/duo work with these hawaiian beauties is the best slide work 'in da wierld'

  • @railman55 I lucked out on this one. It was shot with a kodak digital camera. The sound was just the right volume for this camera to sound good plus I was in a great spot, front row just right of center. This video has a life of it's own. Search David Lindley at the Garberville theater and you will find a dozen site that have taken it and not credited it back to this site or me.

  • @wavydavey I actually have to give credit to his amp -which I believe is a Roland Chorus with that faabulass stereo chorusing. Could be Roland Cubes, and a pedal.

The sound on this just - well its addictive,

  • freaking awesome musician the best

  • No, you got the bottom two backwards. . . It's G-D-G-D-B-G. Classic Open G tuning.

  • That's what I thought so I asked him after a show one night & he told me. 1-5-1-5-1-3. He said it keeps the third out of his way. Btw open G is D-G-D-G-B-D. Otherwise known as spanish tuning

  • I'd like to meat his tailer! lol love that double pun.

  • Gotta love this performance from Garberville!

  • cool

  • I would suggest the pink coloured "El-Rayo X live" and "Twango Bango De Luxe" (also pink) with Wally Ingram - have fun

  • Lindleys the best,what a cool kat

  • He uses the coolest instruments. That his special MD brand-x ;*)

  • cheers dude

  • I think it's open G flat

  • does anyone know what tuning thats in???

  • Top to Bottom G-D-G-D-G-B He puts the third on top so it's out of the way. I asked him after a show one night & he told me.

  • Aha!! Thanks for this.

  • Yeah, a lot of players actually use that tuning.

  • Great stuff! :D I see his CDs are available on Amazon. I'll have to buy me one.

  • Standard 440 Tuning???????

  • no way, lapsteel! open tuning!

  • Thanks for sharing! David Lindley is a giant!

  • saw him at the gaberville few years before, i remember when this show happened. great place. he comes up to humboldt either here or at HSU

  • Saw him this winter at the Aladdin in Portland, OR. Great concert.

  • Great to see him playing again, he doesn't seem to tour the UK anymore, he was round a couple of years ago with Jackson Browne but nothing since. According to his website he puts in a punishing tour schedule in the States, never seems to stop. I saw him some years ago in Manchester at the Apollo with Ry Cooder as a duo and then with his daughter Roseanne( WHAT A VOICE) she was seventeen I think, Ry Cooder and his son. Great memories. Some great albums on his website, check it out.

  • I saw this guy last year at a real small venue with Leo Kottke - what an amazing show. Two of the best performers I've ever seen.

  • was it at the Coach house because I also saw both of them perform one ofter the other.

  • I'm not sure what it was called - it was in NY, just north of the city. I think in westchester county. he's playing again on Long Island on august 30th

  • yeah I saw them in California

  • About twenty-odd years ago I heard Lindley do a great number which (I think) was called "Going to Columbus". Anyone got any info on this. David is evidently a great talent. I like this number. Greetings to you all from wonderful Western Australia.

  • I had the luck to enjoy a convert by Lindley and Jackson Browne back in March 2006. Since then I have been unable to forget "Mercury Blues". What an artist!

  • Lindley's one of my favorite everythings, musically and personally. The Claw, "B.J. Uncle Sam," 1975!

  • Dave is as great as cool!!! @ wavydavey: Thanx for sharing that Video!

  • wow...great !!!!

  • This isthe ultimate guitar player... this guy plays it all.. dobro, lead electric, acoustic... he played along time with Ry Cooder... then he had he's own El Rayo X... wasn't hea well used studio musician in the US... I've seen him once... incredible... him alone on a stage with 6 guitars.... that was Tromsø, Norway in 1986.... anybody knows what he's doing know?

  • He's still touring. I recorded this in 2005 I have seen him twice since then, the last time in 2007 with Billy Frissell.

  • thanks a lot wavydavey... that's good to hear the man is still moving... doyou have any idea of how old he is now? are youa fan? where are you from?

    Greetings from Norway

  • I just saw him a couple months ago... he's still sounding great as ever, with a bunch of great new songs. He's doing a version of Copperhead Road by Steve Earl that's really great.

  • I am a big fan. I was living in California when I recorded this. I am in Indiana now.

  • saw David twice with El Rayo-x but you must see him solo with all the unbelievable complex sounds he is able to produce................PRICELESS

  • screw the money listen to the music

  • I was at this gig...drove all night to get back to Davis for work the next day...totally worth it. I too have seen Mr. Dave oh so many times, travelling up to 600 miles, and bought every CD he has, so I don't feel too guilty reliving the glory with this video. However, do send the man some dough if you download his music. We gotta pay Bo Diddly (and Mr. Dave too!)

  • I got there late the place was filled. For some strange reason the whole front row was empty. I thought it was reserved. There was no sign or anyone to ask so I picked my seat (best one to tape from) and sat down. Instantly the row filled up.

  • First time ever I recognized him was as one of Jackson Brownes musicians so many years ago. The n I saw him together with Wally Ingram playing in Bremen/Germany (guess it was in 2000 at the Bremenale). And he's till going strong - he's pure music and pure fun!

  • Newcomer comment ........this dude rocks......this type of dude deserves your money no doubt.......I feel the same about some other mostly unheralded songsters such as Johnny A........ instrumentalist guitar slinger .......check him out too......buy his cds...good vid keep posting

  • David has played with Jackson Brown for years. Check out the playing on any classis Jackson Brown tune.

  • another education for me,I never heard of this gent until this day, thanks, I am now a fan...

  • For my money, this is the most accomplished solo performer available today. You want virtuosity, passion, substance and humour? The "Prince of Polyester" is your man!

Anyone who watches this video more than once, owes it to him or her self - not to mention Mr. Dave - to catch him live the next time he travels to your town. Pick up his latest CD and slip him an extra fin if you can afford it.

All involved will be suitably rewarded.

  • Mr Dave dislikes bootlegs... You can repent of this illegal viewing by sending 5 bucks to Mr. Dave at his website... Tokyo Bootlegger Man...ain no friend of mine..

  • I have seen Mr Dave 4 times. I bought CD's from him at every show, had them signed and talked with him for a few minutes each time. He was always a gracious man. What Mr. Dave wants five bucks for is if you copy one of his CD's (a very reasonable accomodation). These clips are Just good commercials for his live show. I don't Think Mr. Dave would mind that over 11,000 views have happened. (just on this site, that doesn't include all the people who have taken it and put it on their sites)

  • Please dont get me wrong.. I dont have the ability to see Mr Dave unless I travel 500 miles... these views are great... but he still deserves the money.. lets all send him 5 bucks anyway...he's earned it. I wish their was a video of him I could buy...

  • Whenever I see a great vid- someone new, or, as here, someone I have known and admired for ages, it is likely to compell myself and others to go out and buy hard copies of the music. it can only be a GOOD thing!

  • Mr. Dave is the best!

  • The audio is awesome!

  • Thanks for putting this on. I saw Kaleidoscope a million years ago. Happy memories.

  • Hey WavyDavy- Thanks sooo much for submitting this vid! I am a slide player myself, and a longtime fan of DL's. This vid is KICKASS!

  • I have a couple more from this show. They are partial songs, maybe I should post them anyway,

  • awsome player! i'd sure like to see Dave and Wally Ingram doing "Jah Raggae"

  • oh yea please post more

  • WOW!! I was getting tickets to a Leo Kottke concert and saw David was sharing billing?? So checked him out here on Youtube and I can easily see why they are friends!!! They are both going to be at the Birchmere in April. >>> Hey David ....your a hillbilly arn't ya?? ...I bet you also play the banjo an sit on porches??? HA HA ...Great picking!!!

  • I'd give anything to see him again. To see Leo Kottke on top of that . . . I am going to check for Birchmere, whatever that is.

  • wow.

  • man that's a deep bodied weissenborn. must be like a 30 incher baritone or sumthen. great tune.

  • Hi man, thanks for the post here - you wouldn't happen to have him doing Redneck Friend would you?

  • woo hoo..happy to find this

  • The man is a rather dab hand at the gitar aint he

  • Along with Ry Cooder Mr. Dave is simply Awesome. Nobody,

and I mean nobody can light a candle to Mr. Lindley.

    The man is a legend.

  • This guy can really hear the music and is so versitile. If you haven't seen him do!!

  • The King of Polyester one of the best slider on the entire planet and one of the most charming and entertaining player he is GReaaattttt !
