Indeed it was relatively boring, BUT you, like me have just watched the DVD 'bonus' disk - the BBC Alan Yentob documentary is really worth a watch for any Stones fan, lots of actual shots from the Villa giving a insight into the time spent exiled in South of France.... it can be purchased from Amazon......

The problem was that they owed so much for taxes that ''on paper''they were broke.Not the case however.To them having a million dollars in the bank is being broke.Think about it,during this time they put out Beggars,Bleed,Ya Yas,and Sticky,plus toured to support each album.Shit,you're talking 20mill albums sold in a 5yr period,plus tour proceeds.Lotta dough!

I'm watching this documentary right now on Netflix. If you like seeing old footage of the Stones long before they became has-beens, then its a must-see.

There's no audio from the video shot back then, Thus, we have no idea what anyone in the band was thinking at the time.

However, there's reflective commentary recorded recently. That's pretty cool.

@harp1925: This is a charge that some critics have leveled at the band in their later years but, having seen them live in recent years, and having seen a lot of recent concert footage, it's a charge that just dosen't stick. It's not The Rolling Stones in their prime but they remain a great and real Rock N Roll band. However, I do have to agree that ticket prices have become over-priced. $135 to attend a Rock N Roll show? Prices like these exemplify how grotesque this "industry" has become.

@dockaiser I think the Mobile was built before thos album. Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Bob Marley and countless other used it later. I was the first mobile studio to my knowledge. I actually recorded Patti Smith with in the 90's!
