  • Used to sing this to my kids ...with some selective censorship when it came to Dixie Belle and her jeans!

  • Is that Willie and Waylon I hear? Plus numerous others I recognize. What a great song

  • Ccan one buy this song on i-tunes or other mp3 sites?

  • What a hysterical song by a very talented man!

  • I thought my Momma made this song up. LOL

  • This sounds like the "Old Dogs" group - I hear Waylon in there for sure. But I also hear Willie, and he was not in the Old Dogs group.... Great Song :-)

  • einfach nur klasse- bei dem Lied krieg ich gute Laune

  • What a jam.Thanks for posting .

  • hell yeah man...awesome jam

  • since Mr. Bare is my best friends uncle, i've been listening to this since the late seventies, a class act if i've ever met one

  • "Dixie Belle, she's Southern fried; If you wanna get in her jeans..." funny stuff!

  • I had never heard this song before I stumbled across it here - love it!

I had no idea what Shel Silverstein sounded like, but it's nothing like I would have imagined.

  • Really good!

  • I love this, classic country

  • Love it!

  • This is Awesome!! I haven't heard this song in 25 years, what a Blast from the Past! I love Bobby Bare.

    Thank you for this posting!!!!

  • haha

  • The famaliar voices are as follows:

    Bobby Bare Sr.

    Willie Nelson

    Waylon Jennings

    Ray Sawyer

    Shel Silverstein

    Chet Atkins (No Vocals)

Shel Silverstein wrote it for Bobby Bare Sr.

  • you forgot Dr Hook in that group

  • Dr. Hook was the name of a seven man band. Ray Sawyer & Dennis Locorriere were the band's lead vocalists. Shel Silverstein wrote the majority of their early material from '71 - '76. From '77 - '84, they only used a few songs of his. The only member of the band in this song was Ray and if you want to count the singer/songwriter, too.

  • Some copies of CDs with this song claim that Dennis Locorriere is singing. That is incorrect. They have him confused with either Ray Sawyer or Shel Silverstein.
