  • Where can I get the record w/ this song on it? Love it! :) Great tutorial btw, thanks.

  • @RainyDayzandFunDayz The Starkweather Boys albums are still out there...JD McPHerson is the lead singer and he's an AMAZING solo act now. Check out my '60's Inspired Look for Evening' video for more of his stuff.

  • Thanks! You're the best...keep it up, 291 videos aren't enough. I'm addicted!

  • You are adorable! I love all your videos. But I can't open this one on my iPod. I have a short bob like you, but thick hair. Help!

  • @jellosh0tlady I don't have a short bob in this video. It's just rolled really tightly. :)

  • Why can't I view my iPod?

  • @jellosh0tlady You can now, actually. Sorry about that...yt has blocked some of my vids from mobile viewing. Thought this one was.

  • Can you post a link to Iris' instructional video? My hair is about mid-back length and I need help.

  • @T4B1C4T I'm not sure what it is called...go to youtube search and type in 'rose banana ilovegerardo.'

  • ! thanks a million doll!

  • Does anyone know the iris video she is referring to?

  • Oh my head!! So funny, watching your video and realize I am sitting in front of you, making yourself look just like I do right now!! So funny. Except my bandana is tied at the bottom so I can put on sunglasses and look like a snow bunny. This is a morning look for me,because I had my hair styled up last night. I am even wearing Christine name necklace, so frigin' funny!! Have a good one.

  • I have thick curly hair so I would just pin up the curls on my head? :D

  • i <3 the 1st song 'Abigail Blue'... maybe bcoz my name is Abigail? lawlz

  • i'm a big fan of everything vintage lately so i love your videos. your so talented and seem like such a friendly person. i know this is an older video but i was wondering how you got your hair so light blond? i was thinking about going really light like this. did you do it yourself and if so, what products and techniques did you use? or did you get it done at a salon?

  • @hurtgrudge5 I had this done professionally...i don't recommend trying it at home!

  • @LisaFreemontStreet ok thanks. yeah that's probably the smarter choice to get it done professionally.

  • I have down to the middle of my back hair and I wear it like this all the time!! I leave most of my hair in loose pin curls all around my head under the bandana. I love it!! Vintage hair styles are the best!!

  • you're so pertty!

  • lol nevermind i found her video! but still is there a particular method/product that will help my hair stay curly?

  • @nmholle89 Using her method, you pin the curls in place so you don't have to worry about them falling out. :)

  • Can you tell me the rest of Iris's name so I can look her up? My hair goes to the middle of my back. Also it's pretty thin and very straight and fine...I curl it and it looks gorgeous for about 10 min then starts to fall and just looks wavy but depleted. Any tips?

  • @nmholle89 Iris's channel is Ilovegerardo. She is really good at the vintage styles. Definatley check her out!! It looks like two l's I wrote but the channel sharts with a capital I ( i ) so it's ilovegerardo.

  • Wow omg I never thought of doing it that way w/ the curls! Great hair and awesome video! Thankssss.

  • very good!

  • so adorable

  • What's That 1st song?

  • @dll0990 sorry that I did not answer your first comment quickly enough...the first 'damn' song is 'Abigail Blue' by the Starkweather Boys. And there is actually a big bold annotaton that says that plastered right across the video. :)

  • @LisaFreemontStreet ur such a polite bitch xD

i love it soo much!!! dont worry, it IS a compliment!!!! <333

    im sooo subscribing!

  • Just love ur style ♥

  • WOW....you make this look so unbelievably easy!

  • @xblaccatx It IS unbelieveably easy! ;-) haha. Look for a printed version of this tutorial in the newest issue of Vintage Life Magazine, available later this month. xxoo

  • this is so cute i wish i culd do it i have long hair and when i brush it..it gets into a afro so it dosent look very good :( u shuld try to do a video for people with long hair

  • @iamlucyX You need to keep brushing until the 'afro' goes away. Most frizzing is a result of not enough brushing. My hair is much longer now so I have done quite a few videos for people w/ longer hair. And ilovegerardo has a version of this rockabilly bandana look for very long hair.

  • hey!! NICEEE! you make it look soo easy i will try but im too yeah.. no talent of this.. soo i will try!! but the video is is pretty cool! :) and.. GOOD MUSIC!!

  • you're beautiful

  • Great Video. Thanks for sharing!

  • I love this look! My hair is a bit longer than yours though. What I do is put my hair in a ponytail and then curl is...then, of course, bobby pin the hell out of it (almost into a bun).

    It looks really awesome :)

And THANK YOU for using "Abigal Blue", since listening to that song I bought a Starkweather Boys album and fallen in love with them :)

  • I just love your videos. you're creating the looks I always wantet.

Is there a chance that you could put the name of the songs in the side bar?

  • *psst...I think they get pulled quicker that way!* LOL

In this video, I used 'Big City Good Time Gal' by Wayne Hancock and 'Abigail Blue' by the Starkweather Boys

  • lisa- all these videos are awesome!! I've had a bettypage bang/bob type haircut for a year now ...and im so bored with it! thank you for curing my boredom.

    -amy

  • wow beautiful!

  • my hair is actually about 3 inches under shoulder length..

and i was wondering if it would work out with this kinda of hairstyle. plus my hair is super straight, and i have some layers...i wish u were my sister, so that u could do this stuff for me:) by the way! i love all your videos;)

  • Yes it will. Sponge rollers will draw the length up considerably...then when you use the combs, you will just pin the additional fall out to your head.

  • Did u get those pillow rollers @ avon?!!!

  • No...on ebay. :)

  • love it love it love it

  • what kind of hairspray do you use? It seems to work like no other ha

  • Haha...I think it was Tre Semme Extra Super Hold in this video but I actually prfer the Aussie Hi Hold Hi Shine hairspray. Lots of it! ;-)

  • That's what I just bought to recreate some of your looks!! haha I guess great minds think alike!!

  • Ok, I officially love you. Thank you so much!!!

  • i wish you were my mom... so you could just do it for me

  • LOL!! I think that's a nice compliment...:)

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I was trying to figure out the right way to fold the bandana without the little tip showing and durrr I should have been folding from the point lol. It's almost midnight but I'm gonna go try this right now! Thanks girl and GREAT tutorial ☺

  • OMG! I LOVE THIS! THANK YOU!

  • Wow i love your tutorials, i just subscribed. Your awesome!

Where can you find pillow rollers? I dont know if ive ever seen them

  • I had to get mine on ebay. They also have them at Sally's. I haven't seen them anywhere else...They usually come in packs of ten. Thanks for all your nice compliments. :)

  • i was so glad when i came across your tutorials! my hair is the longest it's been in about 15 years or so, so i've been playing a LOT with the pin-up/vinatge look with mixed results. you make everything so easy and clear. and it's also nice to see someone else with fine hair pull this stuff off. thank you!!

  • Awesome video, both gorgeous and easy, me like =)

  • what song is this? it's great! :)

  • It's called 'Abigail Blue' by The Starkweather Boys. The 2nd song is 'Big City Good Time Gal' by Wayne 'The Train' Hancock. :)

  • looks very nice! thank you! :) i gonna do this some day

  • thank you so much, i have to be a riveter in our play and this just help me so much. now after I'm a riveter i have to come back as a USO hostess and do victory rolls. will doing this mess up my hair when it come time doing victory rolls. i have to do them in about 4 min.. do i have enough time??

  • I wouldnt even know anyone who could accomplish victory rolls in 4 minutes...so I have to say 'no'. I'd just put the sides up in combs, personally.

  • You are too cute! Love it! It's such a cool style, great job:-)

  • thank you so much, i loved the video.

it helpped me out a ton

    but it wasn't

  • hahaha. Well, er....thanks?

  • haha you are welcome

  • Cute! very nicely done =)

    your a total doll!

  • thank you so much! i had been trying this several different ways and you made it look sooo easy!

  • yay finally a tutorial that is perfect for me!

such a great job thank you! keep it up!

  • you are such a doll!

  • ^_^ That's such a sweet thing to say! I like dolls!

  • i absolutely love love love this look!! i tried it the other day and my friends loved it!!! you did such a great job on this tutorial!

  • I LOVE IT!!!

  • i love the look on you!!

how long/short can your hair be to get the curls that short? just curious, its such a cute look i want to try it out

  • You can literally do this look w/ almost any length hair. However, mine is to my shoulders when straight. You can see the length in my other videos. Thanks!

  • Aww, you look gorgeous with red hair, too!

Great tutorial, can't wait to see more!

  • Well dang, you should see me now! I'm very frustrated because I went to have my hair done and it is now dark reddish brown...grrrr. Oh well. Better brown than bald!

  • I love it!! Thanks so much for posting this! I tried it and it came out perfectly the first time!

  • Yay Becky! I'm so glad. Yeah, it's easy but it did take me a while to figure out how to 'put up' the hair so that the bandana would lay flat against the back. I'm happy it worked out for you.

  • You look a lot like a character from that Mad Men TV show!

  • Oooo, thanks! You know I saw all of them at the emmys and they were wearing 'modern' clothing. None of them looked nearly as nice...hmmmm. :)

  • Great easy tutorial. I wonder though if it would work with short hair.

  • Thanks iamaneysayer ( I just got that user name, cute!!). Yes this works well with short hair, depending on how short of course. If it's very short you could simply tease the hair at the crown and do the bandana for the same look. If it's chin length or so, it should still work just fine. You might require more bobby pins around the nape of the neck.

  • I love the song!!!

  • Abigail Blue-The Starkweather Boys...great jump blues band! The 2nd one is Wayne Hancock-Big City Good Time Gal.

  • wow, i had always wanted to know how to do this, and you made it so easy! thanks!

  • cute!

  • Love it ! ♥

  • Thanks so much! I'm thrilled this is helpful to some of you.

  • thanks so much for posting your styling videos, my brother does world war two reenactments and asked if i could help/hang around with him so i needed to find hair styles of that time, i might just do this one, and find a jump suit. thanks again, i also have fine/thin shoulder length hair and its sometimes hard to style

  • Yay! Have a ball in your reenactment. I actually have a pair of Dickies cover-alls I wear w/ this hairstyle. Yeah, I'm the only girl I know who wears them for fun.

  • I'm putting this under my favorites. Love ittt.

  • Thanks, my numbered friend...:)

  • I really love this hair style

  • love it :D

  • Thanks, lady. :)

  • Cool video

  • Thanks JAustinDuke...I really appreciate your videos as well!
