Great video, that was made back around the time of my first trip over to the Curve during the summer of '85. Family went over for a day, and we only saw the Curve and the tunnels. I went back in 2003 and 2004 spending four days/three nights at the Tunnel Inn. Very cool getting to see the engineer's perspective. Favorite area to railfan outside of Ohio.
Outstanding post. Great cab conversation. The first tunnel is indeed known as Spruce Creek tunnel, with the little village of Spruce Creek a half mile or so west, where the silos can be seen.
@cbehr91 Possibly, I'm an locomotive engineer in Detroit. Our engines make noises when we make a air reduction but that would get annoying after awhile lol. I've been looking for the one this guy did on the Lake Cities but its expensive.
@geeps08 I hear ya. Most of his videos are $40 or more. At least they're DVDs now. There's no way that I'd pay that much for a VHS tape anymore. I only happened across this one because it was in amongst three boxes of tapes that I got from a friend. What you're seeing here is actually a dupe that a professional videographer friend of his made a couple of centuries ago, LOL.
Ah, nostalgia; a plethora of Can Openers and Chessies! Thank you so much for posting this!

At 11:30 the narrator says it's the cab signal response whistle.

@geeps08 Probably some sort of air release in the locomotive.

@geeps08 You are probably hearing the cab signal alertor whistle when the cabs drop.

@geeps08 I know sometimes when the cab signal changes, a small whistle in the cab blows to get the engineers attention
