Eric was at his best in 1986. He began to play badly in this final because Whitcombe couldn't raise his game. The first set, which Bristow won 3-0, was done with 10-darts, 11-darts, 12-darts, which is an average of 136.

Eric then was hitting 88/89 average. I think he would be lucky to win 1 set aginest Taylor. Good back then but Evan in his day he couldn't Evan reach the top 32 in our day and age.
