Ashens the note played on a recorder is based on the highest uncovered hole... so to play different notes you should have, covered the 1st hole, then the first and the second, then the 1st 2nd and 3rd, etc.

I'm fairly certain that you only got two notes out of it because you were playing it completely wrong.
