Okay, okay, the Touhou Project is a long running independently published "bullet hell" style shmup, known for its ridiculously challenging yet beautiful bullet barrages, colorful cast, excellent music, and crazy devoted fans. Though the Touhou games are the work of one man - the enigmatic alcoholic known only as ZUN - fan works based on Touhou are both plentiful and often very high quality, even including two anime projects (the good one being Memories of Phantasm).

For information your best bet is go to google type in wiki touhou( this one is more in depth about its songs, characters, sound tracks, overall universe) or wiki Touhou project for the basic information

Check the game sprites, they don't actually hold their instruments. Better yet, if that doesn't convince you, check the Touhou wiki.

These characters are from a VERY popular videogame series called Touhou. Touhou is a danmaku (or bullet hell) side-scrolling shooter series that is as fun and addicting as it is frustrating. You have a small hitbox meaning that you will die only when you are hit in that spot. However, there are, more often than not, THOUSANDS of bullets in many different colors and shapes that are shot at you and it only takes one hit from a bullet to kill you. I would recommend it. It's fun.
