@09:22 when one of the crew slams the axe into the wooden statues chest and lets go of it leaving it there,i find that to be a very cleaver piece of trickery considering this film is 37 years old.If you watch carefuly as the axe leaves the mans hands as it wedges into it,an amazing illusion of interaction when you think in reality that is only a small model that is being animated in stop motion.
@Carbon657 There was a liitle model axe used when you see it stuck in the statues chest probably no bigger than your finger tip but the way it merges from a real axe that the actor swings into into the small model one you see left stuck in the chest is seamless.Amazing effects for the age of the film.
These old Sinbad movies were awesome for 2 reasons : Harryhausen's truly creative work on special effects, and some the most beautiful actresses at the time :
Kathryn Grant (the 7th Voyage), Caroline Munro (Golden Voyage), Jane Seymour and Taryn Power (Eye of the Tiger) ♥♥♥♥
Caroline is beautiful

Whenever I think of a Wood Golem in the Dungeons & Dragons RPG, I have to think of the scene with the animated figurehead.

This is a great film, such fun and that's some seriously good Harryhausen work.

@Carbon657 But where did the real axe go?,it definately was not in the actors hand afterwards,very cleaver.
Carbon657 1 year ago
@Carbon657
The actor threw the axe 'behind' where the model was inserted, and it falls out of the shot.

@eddiefuzz Not bad for a 37 year old special effect what do you think?

All of the effects in Golden Voyage are fantastic.

I like that Sinbad is a gentleman, not a "macho" and respects and obtains the true love from that woman
