And people were paying to see these guys beat up.

I saw Terry, "Magnum TA" and his son Christian today, He and his family are fine. 7 kids, just had twins. Problably one the the nicest guys I know. But he broke his back in the crash, So He Could Never Wrestle Or Do A lot Of Other Basic Things. He gets around very well considering. He Is Not Bitter And Has One Of The Best Outlooks On Life I Have Ever Seen. Proud To Know Him.
Well, back in '85-86, wrestling angles were still portrayed, so to speak, as being "realistic," and part of that mock reality was that they wanted the babyfaces to appear "above board" to the kids who were watching. So when Magnum accidentally-on-purpose says "damn" and starts his rant all over again, that was just a way of establishing the kayfabe territorial quality of wrestling that existed at that time. So yeah, that slip of the tongue was scripted and part of the whole segment.

Well, back in '85-86, wrestling angles were still portrayed, so to speak, as being "realistic," and part of that mock reality was that they wanted the babyfaces to appear "above board" to the kids who were watching. So when Magnum accidentally-on-purpose says "damn" and starts his rant all over again, that was just a way of establishing the kayfabe territorial quality of wrestling that existed at that time. So yeah, that slip of the tongue was scripted and part of the whole segment.
