great vid! always wanted to see a live version of this. they were truly innovators, a huge influence for all 1990's RATM, RHCP & etc sound, among with FISHBONE, LIVING COLOUR and some others, not necessarily in this cronological order :] anyway, thanks for posting!
You guys are totally lost. The original base of this song is SALSA. They transformed and mixed with some rock+hip hop. The original one was back in 1968-69 recorded by Ray Barretto, pure salsa.
i thought it was late 80's but i guess i was wrong. its been a while since i skated or rode freestyle. i was 15 or 16 then. they say the memory is the first thing go (ha, ha) thanks for the info bro.
Sounds like you don't know UDS but you heard it correct, that was really revolutionary when they began in 89 a crossover-mix of rock, hiphop, rap and some reggae, and DJ DNA as part of the band! Later they became an inspiration to other bands like RATM.

Give these guys major props. Only know Deeper shade of Soul but looked at some other vids and they are tight. Definite innovators. Big ups.

In those days (late 60's, this rhythm was called Boogaloo, or Latin Boogaloo, later merged with Salsa.

Ahhh...Love UDS. Their second album was killer to. Too bad this was the only song of theirs to really hit mainstream.
