This was from Lifetime's former series of breast cancer awarness concerts "Women Rock". On this evening DC had opened across town at the Universal Amp for Xtina Aguilera. This performances was one of the last in a long evening. Cyndi orchestrated several numbers all but one ran smoothly without having to stop the taping. When DC and Cyndi began the number something was way off. Cyndi stopped the taping, huddled with DC, animated with arms in the air regrouped, they started again and magic!
I love Cyndi and I love Destiny's Child, even much more that I like Beyonce alone.
Cyndi has suffered from being cast as an 80's "new waver" or something, lumped in with mediocre singers, though she has a BRILLIANT VOICE!
That said, this show was very true to the original song. No wild runs, no grand vocalizations, just a very simple song that is meant to give us hope and strength and optimism! WORDS MEAN THINGS!
They should've let Cyndi loose...she is old school sho nuff...but she really knows how to use her voice. I would have liked to hear more from her on this song!
