@erixorcist A new album is in the works, just don't expect it to drop anytime soon. This is a quote from Asgeir Mickelson on the Ultimate Metal Forum dated february 12th 2011 "We've been working on the next album - obviously more off than on - since 1999(?) and have maybe an hour's worth of music (bits and pieces). The good news is that it looks like there will be continuous work on this album from March this year. Time will tell..."
There is was looking for the album version and nearly didn't watch this...A few seconds in and I though the sound was gonna ruin it but fuck me blind was that worth it. ABSOLUTELY SHIT HOT DRUMMING.
They formed in '95 when that sorta thing was a bit more the norm in Euro metal circles. Check out Psychotic Waltz's album A Social Grace for some perspective(their from San Diego but were definitely a profound influence on Spiral Architect.)
Simply one of the best bands I've heard...their songs are complex as hell, the song composer (I don't know who is) is without a doubt a fuckin' genius!!! It will be great if they release a second album...
I bought it when it came out, my buddy who owned Bluemeanie record store pointed me in that direction. To be truthful, this is so intense and complex that not even once I finished listening to the entire cd. I always have to take in pieces. Totally sick and it puts to stop to any argument to which band is THE top gun. They keep talking about making the second one but still no album. Can't wait.
I wouldn't hold my breath on a followup album. I was excited as hell to see an update around '05 or '06 on their official site talking about having made progress toward this 2nd album but 4 yrs later we still have nothing.
@Davidinofunghettino I agree -- I bought this record 4 or 5 years ago (I know, it came out like 9 years ago), and I still listen to it a lot. It keeps on giving... The most impressive thing is that this record came out in 2000 when metal was at a pretty low point, and not during the metalocalypse resurgence. Now every douchebag on the street is wearing some Master of the Puppies Metallica t-shirt, and even House is referencing (very lame) Metallica material. DILDOS! Lars is not the best drummer
This band is great if you're looking for an exercise in pure technicality. If you're looking for a band with similiar technicality but with artistry to match it, look for Gordian Knot.
guazakk, escucha el disco, y si la caga el vocalista no te gusta este tipo de música. El factor que marca tu desición es que usa tonos poco convencionales si quieres escuchar algo mas comercial no escuches Spiral...
technically, it isnt that hard to play but he changes a lot from tempos, first 5/4 then a fill in 7/8 and well, so on. The only hard thing will be to memorize it, but i think he doesnt always plays it the same.
Spiral doesnt ripoff Watchtower...their definitly similar but Spiral Archiect is a lot more complex and incorporates more influences from outside metal...Watchtower is good it's just they get a bit stiff sometimes IMO, Spiral Architect is more varied.
I like how I get -2 for suggesting that the music isn't difficult to understand. I'm not going to be pretentious about the album's complexity, it is what it is.
"I can only accept your negative comment if you've heard the entire album through a few times, otherwise you have light years of understanding to go through in order to properly assess this gem of an album."
haha. people act like this album takes an epic to understand. if you are a good musician you can get the songs in 5-10 listens.

I can only accept your negative comment if you've heard the entire album through a few times, otherwise you have light years of understanding to go through in order to properly assess this gem of an album.
I really don't understand you guys who don't like the vocals. Seriously, he's one of the best I've heard when it comes to this style of music. The voice suits the music like nothing else
I agree with you Kapteinar, I have never listened such great clean voice since Psychotic Waltz's best moments, he is probably the new Devon Graves! Up the Spirals!

You have to read this!! you won't believe it!!! don't stop now!! make a wish - - - - - - - . . . . . Now that you have your wish it will happen! in exclatly 4 days. just copy this and paste it to 4 videos!! only one wish use it wisely and it WILL HAPPEN!!! but if you break the chain your wish will be the opposite
