This game was ballzier, sleeker and had more personality than 94 and 95, which were still good. I wont go as far as to say the series sucked after this game, but I consider 96 to be the high point in the series.
I don't think so. If you compare 96 to 97 and 98 you have that,
- 96 is much faster.
- 96 damage is bigger.
- 96 super special moves have a different strategy.
- You can't do combos with super special moves (I hate those combos that finish with a super special move in 97 and 98, sometimes starting with a single weak crouching kick).
- There are only a few combos you can start with weak punches or kicks (in 97 and 98 almost all characters have one).
So, I prefer the 96 strategy, faster, and exciting, like old school SNK games, as "Samurai shodown" or "KOF94" and "KOF95". These games are based in PURE STRATEGY, not in large combos like the KOFs since 97.
Also, 96's music and stages backgrounds, are probably the best in the whole KOF saga.
i agree for the most part, but you can do combo. i used Mia and she really good at combo. i did it. you can do it too. also i can make athena and mai walk on air too.
@artty132 in kof 11 why when i press L1 or L2 it auto do special move slike shooting fireball and sometime dont? it seems like it random do. but sometime i press agin it dont do it. what it supose to do? how it work?
@artty132 It's the first really solid entry, IMO. 94 and 95 suffered from some turtle-friendly gameplay that made it relatively slow and sluggish. 96 smoothed out the gameplay so it made back-and-forth matches more likely.
Chin has *not* lost his cheapness, as the last 10 seconds illustrates perfectly. :D But yeah, Kensou *finally* becomes a useful character in this one! Plus, '96 has the best Psycho Soldier theme ever! (Actually, '96 probably has one of the best OST's ever, period!)

I think since kof 96 all the kofs have the same gameplay.... (fast movements).
Only 94 and 95 are a bit bold hiting, that´s the reason because many peoples preffer 94 or 95... I like this 96..
