  • Massey's stormtroopers hard at work! ...

  • As a fellow Appalachianer I appreciate what you guys are doing

  • are you kidding me!!! ... I went there,i never got sick, im perfectly fine...and my dad, brothers, and uncles work in the mines...not changing anyones believes or anything but hey it is me not u

  • wait until the dam fails. and those poor kids are dead.then what will be the reasoning behind not doing anything about it.

  • Coal keeps the lights on.

  • MTR is not safer...

    MSHA News Release: [01/09/2009]:

"Of the 51 fatalities reported [in 2008], 28 of the victims were at surface operations, while 23 miners died in underground mining accidents."

  • Its a symbolic nonviolent protest. He's tired of the sludge, dust, and chemicals. He's tired of the sickness. He's tired of being told his town's prosperity depends upon some rich man's company.

Nobility cant be taught. Civility cant be taught. Honor and decency cant be taught. Environmental stewardship cant be taught. Reason cant be taught...

To those of you who wont care. It's ok, we'll move on around you.

  • How is is different? The company destroys the land that gives them buisness. So what if the people destroy the company - they dont need it? We need the mountains and the streams. Thats a fact. We dont need some company. Even if we have to go without, other energy could be harnessed. We'll get by. But not without clean water and air.

Dirty money built the school - dont go to it.

  • I don't like Massey because of the way they treat their workers...BUT...Massey money built that school, and these people are turning around and shitting on them. What respect...If there was something "from that coal mine" actually making the kids sick...one: the board of education would not let the kids be there, and two: the EPA would've done something about it. Mines are fined very hefty amounts for stuff like that.

  • Precisely what they told people before the Buffalo Creek flood. The children at Marsh Fork (and in Charleston) deserve a lot better.

  • I personally know many of the faculty members at Marsh Fork Elementary, and the only complaints they have are about the protestors. Why don't you get a life and mind your own business and leave Pete Landy alone. It isn't his fault.

  • As for placing blame on anyone, blame the Raleigh Co. Board of Education or Don Blankenship, not the people that work at the plant. They have NO control as to what they can do about the "pollution". As for "pollution", there have been rumors that the coal silo causes the school to be nasty.

  • I hate to tell you this, but I go to a school that isn't beside a coal processing plant and I have headaches and sore throats all the time. If you want to grouch and complain about pollution, go to Charleston and complain about the nasty dupont plant, because everytime you drive through Charleston, you're inhaling the wonderfully nasty emissions from their smoke stacks.

  • Wake up America! Public places are not so public any more. Are the Great Smoky Mountains next? Why is'nt this act of violence dealt with by homeland security? These corporations are terrorists destroying the country. Who is in charge? Wake up or face charges of treason.

  • sorry. Not good to fight arrogant ignorance with arrogant ignorance. Time for a little humility here. This computer is powered by the largest strip coal mine in the world. 4 corners area. I am feeling real crummy right now, Go ahead and shut them all down and we will expierience the growing pains of finding clean alternatives and cleaning up the mess if possible.
