Does Chris Tomlin use 'different' chords from playing live and in the studio?
Youtube doesn't allow the posting of an actual link, apparently. But if you search for the video "qF08AvMOWpA" on youtube without the quotes, you get Chris' LifeLight2007 version. Ever since I found that video, I've tried to figure out what version of chords he used.
But if you search for "C6bfUf9S7wY" - you get him playing a lot more clearly at "Jongerendag 2007" (youth day). Seems like different versions.
For the first video, I'm thinking that weird "far out" sound must be reverberating sounds of some type, or some kind of overtone going back through the mic again. But it's in the second video too. It sounds almost like a very high pitched G. I've tried just about every chord method available for this song, and not too many versions seem to sound like what he plays. Yours sounds pretty close, though. Thanks for posting the video to help us out. :-)
That 6/8 timing is pretty interesting to get used to, as well. lol I've found that Chris uses various hammer-ons in between his chords. There's a video on youtube where Chris teaches how to play Indescribable while on NewSongCafe - but he uses a bunch of hammer-ons there that he doesn't teach how to play. I guess that's just sort of his trademark that he can't really give away in slower playing. :D
