Going from a song about fun which is the Blitzkrieg Bop to this. It sounds like two totally different groups. Born to Die in Berlin is poetry, and Blitzkrieg Bop is just a fun song. Very different.
This song appears on Nina Hagens 1996 album Bee Happy. writing credits are Dee Dee Ramone /Nina Hagen. Nina wrote the German verse. There are four more Dee Dee tracks on that album "Zero Zero UFO", "Star Girl", "Leave me Alone" and "Runaway" if anyone is interested.
Following a short translation of the german verse (what I could understand)
Kiss me now girl, everything is true, you can read it in the Morgenpost (German newspaper)- OK. The winter is going to be cold again and Berlins want America. People who die under white flowers.
Sounds good to me, although I hear the second last line as "vorgestern gestorben"
I can't understand how some German people say they can't make out a word Dee Dee sings. I'm not German and don't speak the language properly but I managed to get most of it myself.
Hey, what a bunch of saddos we are, striving to transcribe a fuzzy German passage in the middle of a punk song.
Yeah no doubt about that. Dee Dee quit in 1988, of course. But as i don't speak german i always wanted to know what the third verse says! Can someone who speaks german explain it out to me?
Nah. This song and about 4 other songs on the 'Adios Amigos' cd were originally on Dee Dee's solo cd that came out the year before 'Adios Amigios' (1995) it's called 'I Hate Freaks Like You' (1994). Credits on the cd read "written by Dee Dee Ramone & Johnny Carco" his then bass player in his solo band Dee Dee Ramone I.C.L.C.
I cant find this song on freaks. I wish i could cos it's up there with some of the best songs i've ever heard, please enlighten me as to where i can find a dee dee version =)

und Berlin voll [...]
und du kannst es hören in den [...] in Berlin.
Sid3nt3rtainm3nt 3 years ago
It's not CJ, it's Dee Dee. Although he wasn't in the band at that moment he sang the third verse. It was recorded during a phone call.
sinnvollproductions 3 years ago 14
This comment has received too many negative votes show
it was CJ. Dee Dee had a darker voice. and they used some effect, it was no phone call.
