@mrabuckten Dude, you're wrong. Cops only enforce the laws that POLITICIANS make. Our elected officials are the ones who instituted this asinine war on drugs. To be specific, it was Richard Nixon who declared it and then others just followed his lead when they saw how much money they could rake in by continuing it.
Your anger at the situation is understandable but it's misplaced. Get mad at the right people, be a do-gooder yourself, and work to change it. Blind hate only hurts the cause.
@mrabuckten I will agree, pigs are fucked up. But pigs are the law enforcement who hurt people, law enforcement who protect people are just plain law enforcement. I have my problems with cops, but logically speaking, I can't view any group as 100 percent 1 way or the other, it makes no sense. Besides, if your going 2 blame anybody for law enforcement fucking the lives of people who use drugs, blame financial institutions and the CIA who benifit from drugs being illegal and people going to prison
@mrabuckten your emotion is blinding your logic. I understand where you are coming from in your emotion, but no group is 100 percent 1 way or the other. Not even N.W.A. who put out "Fuck the Police" would say 100 percent of cops are bad. They say most, but not all. This group is a perfect opportunity to end new age slavery and the other negatives that this drug war causes. Be logical and strategic and work with who ever to end this immoral policy, even if they are law enforcement.
@mrabuckten Yup, and that's why they are better and deserve more respect than you. They have realized that there is a better method then the one we have in place and that they were part of. They see the error and are trying to make a change.
This video is what got me educated on where we are at, very informative and worthy of debuting on my podcast I will share with the world today Thanks for the sincerity and honesty that went into this production Vote YES on Nov 2 for Freedom
learn spelling then see if you can tackle bigger issues like prohibition. Tobacco is bad, alcohol is bad, but that doesn't mean they should be illegal. Controlling and regulating a substance is much more sensible than allowing criminals to, especially if it's a harmful substance. We could save $100 billion+ a year right away just by ending the drug war, the only reason why I can assume it still exists is because the men in charge are profiting on both sides due to it's existence.
It might happen. Even though on the television, they are trying to convince everyone that no one wants them legal, but in reality, lot's of people agree on legalizing drugs. Thing is, when your filling out a job application, or watch television, you get the wrong impression. It's like anything else, if you work in a supermarket you can't go around warning the customers to beware of the gmo's in aisles 2-12. But then in the lunchroom , you meet a lot of people concerned.
Your average person, when asked about legalizing drugs, has a moronic idea that icecream trucks would be peddling coke to infants and you could go to the corner 7-11 for a sixer of heroin. Uh. Ok, drugs like heroin, cocaine, meth, extacy (it falls in the meth AND hallucinogen category) etc, would be available only from a doctor and ONLY to verified addicts. As far as the moronic idea that addiction will EXPLODE, I've never heard of anyone, even a kid who said "I think I'd like to be an addict."
I was just thinking how many of those (probably fairly innocent) kids in the early 70's went to prison for years for weed and in the process hooked up with hardened meth or heroin dealers, left prison and went into a seriously profitable and violent new occupation? There's your gateway, bitch. Nixon had some bright futures in mind for these kids. No wonder we need so many prisons.
I don't believe that 69 billion dollar number at all, I think it's much, much higher. Maybe just that state he is in? Maybe just the federal gov or something? I have heard estimates at over 1/2 trillion a year across fed/state and local combined. And that is just the direct spending, there is much more in indirect spending and the incalculable cost to communities all over the country in losing their citizens to the jail system, arrest records, missed education opportunities etc.
"Prohibition goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded." ~ Abraham Lincoln December, 1840
First, these are very credible people and knowledgable on the subject. There are different ways to look at it. The big guys are the more violent ones rather than the users, but some addicts might commit crimes to support their habit - that might not change, but the first part would. Would it increase drug use or addiction? I doubt it. People don't quit because it's illegal, they quit because they figgured out it was bad for them. In addition deaths from contaminants could be eliminated too.
At the very least, when cops aren't having to deal with drug murders and narcotics busts, they can do real community policing -- like investigating child molestation, assisting abused spouses, investigating real serials thieves & burglars (not just junkies), catching people doing DUI, etc.
As it stands, the drug trade keeps cops arresting neighborhood young men, and the community gets stigmatized. If the neighborhood doesn't turn on the cops, the dealers intimidate the people.
I agree crock. When the more violent cartels were eliminated in Colombia, they were replaced by other Cartels, and the FARC, and ELN (terrorist groups operating under the guise of revolution) took over. The Mexican Cartels are even more bloodthirsty than any Colombian Cartels ever were (Pablo included) and have a strong gang contingent here in the US. Take away their incentive and it will cut down on violence. I also agree that a bunch of young peoples lives are being ruined unnecessarily.
i agree with what you are saying in all the other videos. but the officer from new jersey is augmenting the truth from 1:30 to 2:20 . How could they get into a group of friends 1,000 times. wouldn't the youth of nj (my area) realize that if some new kid comes along offering weed is a cop? aLSO, why are you guys removing comments.
The year was 1990...the time now is 1:14 pm EST Feb 28th, 2009...I still can't go to a proper concert and I believe and know that I hate witches (WTF).. too! Burnt, burned, burning...with the latter being p'referred in correct context.
I'm not for the use of use of hard drugs like PCP, Meth, Heroin, and mostly for the concern of public safety any Hallucinogenic drugs. Obviously the drug war seems to have little progress to show for all the money dumped into it. The upside of broad range legalization is the restrictions and management you can put on the drugs distributed, jails wouldn't put such a strain on the nation, and violence (not garunteed) would drop because the decline of illegal cartes. prohibition didn't work 4 alch
The military has used amphetamines since WWII, 56% or all opiate addiction begins with a perscription, 90% of heroine related death is caused by what it's cut with. I'm not big on hard drugs either but real education would be nice. hallucinogens are not for everyone but they don't put the public in any danger. in fact many people claim long lasting positive effects after just one experience, i.e. feelings of oneness with everyone and the universe feelings that are verified by quantum physics
Yeah. I'd rather see doctors, psychiatrists, or parents/grandparents administering hallucinogens in a safe and guided environment -- like they have been for thousands of years. Instead of by dumb teenagers at house parties. Its like having sex under the same circumstances -- a disappointing waste of an experience.
I'm for keeping LSD generally illegal though (except for psychiatrist administration.) Even though it was derived from an organic compound, it is a synthetic and hyper amplified.
I know it sounds a bit superstitious, or 'hippie-logic', but I'm just not keen on anything that is that new and untested, who knows what ti does to your brain chemistry and neural pathways, synapses, etc. Plenty of things that don't kill or blatantly hurt you, do have negative effects.
B4 the tyranical age of the war on drugs; when the drugs heroin, marijuana, cocaine, etc were legal & widely available at any pharmacy, over the counter, and no questions asked, America had 1/10th the drug use it has today
This is proof we WILL NOT see a huge epidemic of rampant crackheads & people giving hand jobs for a dime bag of heroin...Drug legalization does not promote drug use, it controls the market, reduces violence, reduces OD's due to consistent purity & DEGLAMORIZES DRUGS
I don't necessarily like the "war on drugs," but we've been told since middle school (I am 30 now) to stay away from drugs, and how much trouble you can get in. I've never even touched an illegal drug, and the only one I've even seen is pot (and even that was just because someone had a joint). Why can't these college students and "black men" just stay the f*** away from it?
potentially yes, but you have to remember that these people are abusing drugs in spite of the harsh laws which prevent nothing. eating food in a manner that make you morbidly obese is bad too but does it make any sense to put you in jail for it. it's a health concern. treating it as a legal concern has done nothing but make drugs a highly lucrative venture for the criminally inclined. Your position is based lies.
so are guns, rocks, sticks, spears, knives, fists, cars, words, farts and the government....people use all these things to hurt themselves and others..... so let's outlaw all of these.
As a longtime police beat reporter, I agree with LEAP that the War on Drugs is a hoax that should be stopped because the ban itself contributes to unneccessary crime. However, this is NOT to say that efforts to erradicate dangerous substances like methamphetamine and its production are fruitless. Even meth users admit that the drug is dangerous and destroying their lives. But to throw any drug user in prison based on drug use is an expense that should instead go to drug-use prevention & therapy.
ever listen to the alex jones channel? he's a radio talk show host in texas who claims to have documantation that the government is importing the drugs to feed the growing private prison industry. Your organization should go on his show to get more exposure
What about growing my own...I dont want to have to go to the FDA to grow my own. I dont have to do that for my vegetables, and fruit.
