All survivors - be grateful, not angry. One can't possibly be angry with the American Red Cross? It is difficult to be rational during crisis & in stages of extreme grieving. Every angry person, please consider if your expectations are realistic before your comments destroy the ARC which is there to serve during crisis - a safe place to sleep, a change of clothes & basic nutrition - not long term recovery. ARC gives invaluable crisis intervention by private sector donations only.
I know it will do no good to tell you that the American Red Cross receives NO funding from the US Government but is supported totally by donations. The present President of the Red Cross receives about one fourth the pay she was receiving in the private sector. Sadly your attitude is typical of the uninformed and uneducated amoung us.
