@JustThink00 Actually, the star sapphire needs both genders. It's not a complete power. It is only truly complete when two who love each other give in to each other to create a new star sapphire. Therefore, the violet light was contained and given out to those who lost their loved ones. And no, it isn't sexist, because the violet entity of love chose a male to be it's host first. It doesn't discriminate.

@newcollector This takes place far before the War of Light saga which revealed the different lantern corps. Think WAY back to the silver age, during the Super Friends days of comics. "The Star Sapphire" was originally an evil, ethereal entitiy that wanted to take over the world (OF COURSE!). The Zamarons were it's servants and made Carrol Ferris it's avatar. The sapphire and Carol were independnt personalities and one of Hal's foremost enemies for a really long time, straining their relationship
