@Xezlec They are NOT everywhere like many people seem to believe. I've yet to find a single one even with 100x magnification. Not even in a dirty blanket that our cat sleeps on and which hasn't been washed in over half a year. In fact, at least here in Finland, some experts go as far as to say that dust mites are almost extinct due to dry room air and the use of artificial fibers.
@Uxmai It's not just that many people seem to believe it, it's actually taught as scientific fact. My dad is a biology professor and he still insists that they're everywhere. Usually, when he claims that something is true but it doesn't seem true to me, he turns out to be right somehow. So I'm not going to give up looking for them just yet. I read somewhere that they hate light so they usually live only deep inside things like mattresses. We'll see.
wow I should get an award for reaction time... this video is just to make neat/clean freaks paranoid, us regular people can care less and live our lives beyond these little harmless dudes... i'm a somewhat dirty guy, and if you're afraid to get sick and become immune to it (never the same sickness twice rule) then thatd suck cuz I have other stuff I'm interested in.
calm down everyone, this video is just corporate propaganda! after the end it shows you to a link called "STOP DUST MITES" which has a link on it which says "Ergomatic - 100% Dust-Mite-Free - Hypoallergenic PILLOW".
they specifically mention pillows in this video and include specific information, such as the fact that they're related to spiders, and the closeup shot on their disgusting mandible things, just to scare you of dust mites so you'll buy their pillows! heed the conspiracy!
Sometimes when you go a little longer than you should without washing your sheets/blanket.... you're lying in bed and you feel itchy here and there... these guys are the reason why.
who cares wats so bad about em, they mite look like nasty bugs but ther too dam small to see n they eat ur dead skin n other shit n prolly clean ur bed, but i ges they shit in it too but fuckin too small fuck it
@FingerLickinGravy67 agree. Yeah, they may look nasty and all, but as humans, were ourselves are covered in parasites like these as well. Our eye fluid contains similar parasites that actually keep our eyes clean. Who cares if we have some 'friends' eating our dead skin flakes.
I don't know if it is dust mites but on some dark coloured clothes in one of my cupboards there are bugs that look like these which are as small as a full stop on a page crawling on my clothes.
Not necessary "harmless." Many people suffer moderate to severe allergies because of mites. These allergies can significantly hinder their ability to enjoy life. Anyone who has these kinds of allergies knows that although it won't kill you, it is extremely frustrating.
I had really bad allergies for the last two years... all year long. after i used this spray to clean my mattress and pillows. In about 2 weeks all my allergies went away and never came back. I am really happy with the result.
Sure they're a lot, sure they look creepy, but no, they don't really suck your blood or any of that crap, you give them dead skin, they stay alive. Equivalent exchange?
you can't really be allergic to dust mites. People are usually allergic to the dust given off by the dust mites, but without them, there'd be far more dust anyways.
YEA, well theres two: one is the expensive one , go to home depot u buy like 100 sparys against dust mites and boila bnut u gotta put em in the sun (the pillows and bed) to disapear them, the cheap one is to move ur bed to the sun , pillows, all with the bed and wait leave it like 5 hours in the sun and dead mites and living mites will die and disapear, then wash all ur mantles and there we go! (wash pillow because not all mites die and disapear with the same about 70% do)

Some people don't mind living in filth and some people like to be clean.
I have actually taken my cousins microscope and scraped off some fuzz from my sofa and sure enough - dust mites...
I don't want to live with them so I get my stuff cleaned once per year.
Oh well ----

Question: Do you crush dust mites when you walk or are they like ticks, you can step on them but it will have no effect?
ironspring 2 years ago
Blah, there are less dust mites in soft materials than the clean-freak propaganda says. Those bugs are harmless.
Even our eyebrows have their own mite species. ;) Look "eyelash mite" in Wikipedia.
